this song is the reason i started playing guitar lol my stepdad bet me i couldnt play this song (which i still cant -_-) i tried for months and months
I'm pretty sure I've accounted for at least 100 of these views. Oh, and I'll put money on it that the one dislike you have is from some dude who's been struggling with this song for years.
@jonnyasprin HAHAHAHA! I remember when I learned the harmonic opening, and was like, "YEAAAHHHH!", when trying to get the next part, it was like, "NOOOOOOOOOO"
@MrXAVIERDB It's hit or miss with me. I cringe at the performance in some parts but at least it's honest. Rik was a major influence on my playing growing up too.
I've been trying to play this song for a few years now. Seeing you play it gives me hope that someone other than Rik can play it properly... it also depresses me when I realize how much I have to learn. Love your vids, great inspiration as well as reference. Thanks. - AMT

Yep, I agree with some the others, best Midsummers cover yet. I noticed on of Chanson's pieces you commented and he replied back you were a helluva player. Well, he wasn't lying, that was spectacular. Very well done sir!!!
is that not a larivee? awesome playing too. It sure is tough for a guy to find the tabs/music for these older songs any kind of input as to the whereabouts of tabs could someone please respond. THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG ON YOU-TUBE PERIOD...
Wow thats brilliant, perfectly done, I have been playing this for friends for a long time but never done it that flawlessly, and that crisp, you really captured the essence of the song good job man! just wow.
I've been into Triumph and Rik Emmett since "Just a Game" all those many years ago. You did this piece (my fave Rik solo) true justice. Not just the notes, but the feel of the song. Bravo, sir.
Thank you very much. I can definitely credit my enthusiasm for fingerstyle to Rik Emmett primarily. And from the same time period as you. Fantasy Serenade? Hmmmm.
This inspired me to learn the song. I posted a video of it. I think I rushed it a little; I should have played it a little slower. Also, the acoustics in the room weren't the best.
Wow! this is almost better than the original! I wish to play it as well as you. Just a quick question: the sound is perfect ( reverb somehow); is the back of your kitchen that vast to creat that sound? :))
When I saw the title of this "Midsummer's Daydream cover" I was, no way this guy can make it sound good at all. Wow, was I ever wrong. Great job, nice guitar, awesome cover.
Jesus, I though oohindie's versions were good. This without a doubt the best cover I've seen of any song on youtube. You nailed it in every detail. It sounds EXACTLY like the real recording!
I see you're not signed to a label, that's mindblowing. Someone with your talent should be.
Awesome. Have been playing for awhile now and that is the song I want to master. Warren, you make it look effortless. I look forward to every post. Keep them coming.
Very nice! I truly enjoy your playing. You use some different chord progressions than I have seen, I am learning this tune and I like what you do. Is it possible to get the tabs?
Hi Scott, send me a PM and I'll share the tab I found - it's not exactly how I play it however. I think the major difference is the run on strings 2-5: Rik keeps it on those strings while I prefer to use 1-4 (1st position chords?) for part of it because it's easier on a 12-fret guitar.
I must be getting old. Even my eyesight can't keep up with the finger movements ! (well, thats my excuse). To have a go at playing it myself i have no hope ! Still watch this everyday and never get bored of it. Beautiful playing
Thanks. It was quite the experience building this guitar as it was the first real woodworking project I had done. Frustrating at times, but extremely rewarding in the end.
Looks like I never got around to making the video. I remember getting the music to this piece when I was a teenager, and I rememeber picking a few strings during that run. I can see how frustrated you could be trying to do it as one continuous hammer-on and pull-off!! I'm sure it will be alot more fun to play...scott
Hey I remember this tune! I still play it! I will make a video of it tomorrow....great job, I never hear this one anymore, thanks for keeping it alive...Scott
Just take it slow....like instant replay slow. You seem very proficient on the guitar, but if you isolate that one section, and really concentrate on it, you will break through it....I really should make a video of this song, I've had so much to do lately, but I will try to make it and post it today...I will try!!!!! Scott (I still think you play well!)
Actually I saw a video of Rik explaining the tune. I didn't realise he picked each string through the run. I was always trying to do it as a series of hammer-ons/pull-offs from top to bottom. Made it much easier.
I have never heard this piece. I really like it. Nice guitar work! You guitar sounds really good too--cedar and walnut evidently work very well together. Thanks for posting. -Derek
Wow! You built that guitar?!? That's fantastic! I recently attended the Newport Guitar Festival in Miami Beach. It was my first opportunity to play a lot of handmade guitars, and it was just awesome. I told my wife on the way home "no more 'off the rack' guitars for me." :-) Are you planning to attend the Summer NAMM Show in Nashville, TN this June? -Derek
