This was a very poetic piece. This performance, through indirect eloquence, has told a story. For every motion was a syllable clearly pronounced by its storyteller. Imbued with the richness of a tradition, this performance was profoundly instilled in my heart. Thank you.
I loved this dance. It is a great example of what ancient Kathak was all about. Telling a story, set to rhythm, enhanced by mime and gestures and with a moralistic message. It also seems we have been rapping in India for hundreds of years. lol. I was also impressed that the dancers, no longer youngsters still retained their grace and stamina. Maybe someone should put out the word, Dancing Kathak will keep you young.
