  • in the summer, mls only competes with mlb. in the fall, it would have to compete with nfl, nhl, and nba

  • @fanofgoodteams or Toronto and Montreal.

  • THE SEPP WAS INVOLVED IN CORRUPTION MANY TIMES!!

  • Russia plays from spring to Fall why doesn't he give them shit.

  • @bigsteve032291 agreed..Sepp Blatter thinks Americans are stupid about soccer

  • please don't ever listen to FIFA!!!

  • YOU FUCKING FAT CUNT, SEPP FUCKING FATTER, FUCK OFF AND DIE YOU TWAT

  • The most corrupt shithead in the westurn world!

FUCK OFF AND DIE SOON YOU FUCKIN TWO BOB SWISS NAZI GOLD HORDING CUNT!

  • If soccer were to play in the US during the fall/winter, soccer in the US would become more irrelevant than it is today...

  • @fanofgoodteams lol...if they played in winter in chicago...and if the ball was all white..players would be looking for the ball only for whole 90 mins(sarcasm)... + fans cant stay 90 mins in that cold in an open stadium...naah..summer is good! :D atleast we'd get to see some chicks with small amnt of clothes ....haha

  • Real soccer fans kno that soccer could be played in the snow look at England .And we should play from fall to spring that way we can take fans from Basketball American football and baseball and we would have the same transfer windows as Europa.IM a American and got love for the sport yes we could play in the winter and its nice to kno that fifa wants MLS to be a big league and i think obama is ganna help with that lol

    REDBULLS babyy...

  • Look up Denver's "Barrel Man". That alone will render the argument that Americans dislike cold weather null and void. The reason behind our schedule is simple: if MLS tried to steal fans and viewers away from the domestic ratings and ticket sales juggernauts that are college football and the NFL, MLS would fold.

  • you americans are pussies, they play football during snow in europe. am was interested in following the mls but i was bored by the fact that i had to wait till march for the season to begin and by that time, the only thing on my mind was the finish of european leagues and world cup so i couldn't be bothered with the mls. true fans will follow their team in snow, rain or any weather condition so thats no excuse and not many football fans like NFL(Gridiron) or MLB.

  • European soccer is played almost year around, Love the game but thats too much and you wonder why players are always hurt. To change to season would conflict with NFL and MLB, it wouldnt work. Its perfect the way it is

  • CORRUPT BASTARD.

  • FIFA MAFIA

  • Sepp Blatter is a stupid jerk. He's unfit to be FIFA President.

  • man

have you seen the osccer games in ITALY

those guys sometimes play on the snow

  • Sepp is stupid..he does not know how the truly fair play game is when he allowed the france to win the play off match and refuse to replay...wat an a.s.s.hole!

  • I'm American and I love soccer a lot better than football. And for those who haven't been paying attention, soccer is getting more and more popular. People would still come out to watch. Here thousands go out to watch football games in the snow. Why wouldn't they do the same thing for soccer? Not only that but in Europe, they play soccer in the snow so it's not like it's never been played in the weathr. I think it would make sense for the MLS to switch to the traditional august to spring season.

  • it's hard to play in the winter in the cities where it gets very cold in the winter.

  • why does the world tear their hair out if we dont worship in the house of soccer

  • How could they play from the fall to the spring? In Utah, or Denver, places like that, there would be snow on the ground, and lots of it. They wouldn't be able to get fans to come to the games because it would be soo cold!

  • Just how the NFL, NBA and MLB are expanding their sports around the world, soccer its going to be just as important in the US.

  • I like all American sports, but I'm telling you all in a near future soccer is going to take over the US and its going to be call football, I'm not hatting the other sports but soccer is growing in the US and its growing fast, I seen more and more people pay more attention to soccer than they do to football or basketball and also more people want to learn how to play it and they are not foreigners. It the truth and I'm not trying to offend anyone.

  • What.A.Fool.

  • well said about yourself

  • Nice third-grade insult. What, are you Sepp's mother or something? Couldn't handle people criticizing him?

  • Soccer is in prime position to find a good following in the summer months. Beyond weather issues in places like KC, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, NY - American football takes over the winter, both college and pro.

Baseball is really the only competition, and this country is big enough to support both very well - in many markets they already do. However MLS needs to schedule around as many FIFA dates as they can.

  • Players slated for the European market aren't leaving because they want to play in Champions League. MLS knows they need to develop as a better feeder league first, before even entertaining the possibility of taking on Europe. 50 years at the soonest. The league is only 13 years old in a country that partially found it's cultural identity in rejecting soccer.

  • what part of you can't play soccer in NY, Toronto, Chicago, DC, Boston, Seattle, Philly in december to February? soccer is played on real grass not ice, shorts not longjohns and leg warmers.

They don't play FIFA calendar in Russia for the same reasons.

  • Stretch the fringes of the seasons a bit, go to an apertura/clausura system, and throw Sepp Blatter down a well.

  • thats stupid. one season, one championship. i know it works like that in mexico and south america, but theres no point with liguillas and playoff bullshit like that. point total at end of season is true showing of consistency and greatness

  • The weather doesn't matter cause the MLS has teams in Texas and Cali... and we aren't Sweden, Russia or Iceland. So take that out of the picture.

It's more about the ratings and attendance, and the MLS can't compete with the NFL, NBA, NCAA Football, and the baseball playoffs. Sepp seems to forget why soccer is a second tier sport in the first place.

  • yeah move it to the fall. when both nba and nfl games begin.which means even less fans than they have now...sure that's a great idea!

  • they should start right after the NBA finals so they only have baseball and the WNBA to compete with

  • I don't know if MLS can compete with NFL or with NCAA football. The theory makes sense but in America, the adults have the money and the children play soccer. (America has the most youth organized soccer players in the world) But none of the adults grew up playing soccer. Maybe in 10 to 15 years when all those childhood soccer players grow up there could be a fanbase. But I think for now the parents are more interested in watching their children play than the Crew, or Chivas... etc...

  • It's not a bad idea, but attending Dynamo games on summer nights will be missed...

  • All clubs would first need to make fully enclosed stadiums. These are not just rain shelters or even minor cold.

Think -30 degrees celsius or -22 fahrenheit.

If you think that now is the time that North Americans will support another sports league to that degree you are fooling yourselves. Maybe in 10 years...

  • Football (real name, cause you get it, right? foot and ball, makes sense) could be a great sport in USA if you just follow the rule of playing all the year, except in summer (transfers). But here in "US and A"(?) we have a season for every sport.

  • Right now, it has a better chance of competing with baseball than with American football. Does Sepp have any idea how many people attend COLLEGE football games? Or that the TV sports market is full of these games?

Why? Because we LIKE our domestic code.

Another thing, please do not force the code and your ethnocentrism upon us. After all, there are MANY in this country who like both codes of football, perhaps more so than like football (soccer) and baseball.

  • im tellin you this now if the usa take football seriously (sorry dudes it aint soccer:) then theyd be one seriously good team on the international sceen, and the usa is making great progress already, mite stick a bet on them to make it to the last8 in south africa nxt yr

  • Soccer has a hard enough time getting fans as it is, put it up against football and you will destroy the MLS

  • good luck XD

  • trying to compete with Football? thats ridulous! I dont think it will work
