@jorasave - Many Thanks for your comments. I do have have some kits to build for the layout but unfortunately I am not able to do them now, so I will have to re-think part of it.
@pyronathanpyro - Hi, underneath the layout is a container for the water, 9 inches x 7 inches x 4½ inches deep (approx 229mm x 178mm x 114mm) with a small pump, a tube goes from the pump out of sight to the feed at the top of the mountains as you can see the water vanishes under the bridge into the hills. Here it just drops back into the container to start all over again
For those that may wonder where I got the bridge from, it is actually the top of a Hornby 'OO' wagon repainted silver.
@pyronathanpyro I painted it the colour that I wanted with poster paint and then a number of coats of yatch laquer, while it was still wet I added miniature pebbles etc.
@TheKidsOfBretten - The track, locos and rolling stock are all Marklin, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't use any others if there was something that I liked by them.
Hi, if you watch the video again, at 1:22 you will see the front of the tunnel removed, minor maintenance like cleaning the track, retrieving derailments etc. can be done through this gap. However in the case of any major problems, although I can't really think of any, the whole top can be lifted to sort them out. If I lifted the the top though I will then have to do some very minor patching up.
okay, i am buildingan ho scale layout with my brother and our freind, they want to carve a mountain out of styrofome, i think we should use spray fome, neat layout, how big is that board.
The Z scale layout is 42.25 inches (1073.15mm) x 22.75 inches (577.85mm).
My 'OO' Layout that incorporates a 'OO9' layout is a wedge shape, 164.50 inches (4127.50mm) along the front with right hand side at right angle 69.25 inches (1771.95mm) , the left side also at right angle is 48 inches (219.20mm) the back edge is 164.25 inches long (4171.95mm) being on a angle of 80 degrees.
Yet another great layout, and video. The river with actual running water really adds to the reality. It's obvious that you are a model railway buff, along with a love of canals and waterways. Might I also add the sound on your videos somehow always seems very apt. Thanks again.
how much one can invert in Z trains to have a small lay out like this? is pretty nice !

Two minutes, twenty seconds long - was that done on purpose?
(Hint: Z-scale ratio is 1:220)

@JBofBrisbane - Ha Ha, well spotted. I would like to say it is but is just a coincidence.

Is that mountain made out of spray fome?
NathansBackwoods 2 years ago
No it's made with multi purpose plaster filler (like plaster of paris) on a base of newspapers.
