  • This song is deep....

  • Everyone's got a sadist inside them. It's that part of us that thinks maybe a villain running the world wouldn't be such a bad thing, and rooted for Joker in The Dark Knight

  • @Inuyashagirl234 I don't think being a sadist has very much to do with rooting for NPR or the Joker. Did you ever see Dr Horrible torture anyone? Or enjoy someone's pain for pain's sake. The reason i connect with the character is because he's an underdog, he's been dealt a shit hand and from that perspective he's able to see how messed up the world is. He was trying to fix it. Granted for deeply shallow reasons at first, and he didn't do a very good job at it XD, but you still have to love him.

  • In this part of the film, Dr Horrible reminds me of the joker...

  • omfg. your videos of dr. horrible's songs are perfect, except in each one you cut off like the last 2 seconds. -________________-

  • Is it wrong that, when I watch this, I keep thinking that the doctor really should kill Hammer? I just wanna avoid everything that happens after, and I pretty much hate Hammer.

  • @CBeliever I know how u feel, but thats what makes this more than just a movie but a fantastic play, a great tragedy and one of my favorites with a great cast <3

  • This is everything the "evildoer's" song should be.

  • I like Dr Horrible because it's funny and all these humor elements then if you look at it properly it's a really deep story, exploring how Dr Horrible is just a guy trying to be evil even though he hesitates in killing Captain Hammer but Hammer pulls the trigger straight away.

    Also, it's just plain awesome

  • The background music in the fast part of this song reminds me of a song in super paper mario

  • what's weird is that the beginning part of the song basically describes stereotypical society

  • captain hammer, Penny, and the mayor all disliked

  • @TheHeroBoyNamedFin no it's the three fans of captain hammer

  • @gabygogo505 Can't be; They became Dr. Horrible's fans in the end. :D

  • this gives me an eargasm

  • @TheWarnerSister well with Captain Hammer the reason he is so worshipped in the movie is because he has more power than normal people, and when Dr.Horrible defeats him he is worshipped instead so it is a reasonable argument that he is seen as a hero is because he lives in a world where the man with physical/intellectual power rules

  • Think hard. What does Captain Hammer DO exactly, other than beat up Dr. Horrible? What is it that makes him a hero? He's just kind of an ass. Really, it surprises me how Penny is never considered part of the hero/villain thing. She has a backstory, motivation and a genuinely loving heart and she does more for the world than Hammer does. She's a hero in the real-world, non-comic-book way, and the literal, cartoony hero is a cheesy jerk. This writing is so... NUANCED 8D

  • GO AHEAD, RUN AWAY, SAY IT WAS HORRIBLE!

  • after the end of the song on the movie....*stun ray turns off*

Dr. Horrible: That can't be a good sound.....

    *C.Hammer punches Dr. Horrible*

    C.Hammer: WHATTTTTTTTT!!!!!!

    AMAZING!

  • @TheLPlayer1 He actually says "WAY!!!", finishing the Everyone's a Hero song.

  • @CireNosttam Oh bahumbug.

  • @TheLPlayer1 He was actually singing "Way!" as in, what he was about to sing before Dr. Horrible hit him with his Freeze Ray.

  • @StevenUlyssesPerhero -_- if you can't obviously see that someone already told me that.

  • @TheLPlayer1 Blame it on the page layout for YouTube comments. I didn't see that you'd already been correct until after I'd corrected you myself.

  • ha at the closed captions. xD turn em on. it's hilarious!!!!!

    "fire up your brain grandma

    and human side you're on

    it seems so sad

slowly demand everything so that don't know where"

  • best part 0:55 - 1:03 &

    1:30 - 1:45

  • You know... the day they take This movie off of Netflix... is the day I unsubscribe XD

  • A maaaaaan's gotta do what a maaaaans gotta do!

  • This world is going to BURN! BURN! "yeah it's two R's, H O R R right" BURN!

  • Ill be the first to like it

  • I just love the line "It's gonna be bloody head up bill buddy." It's so powerful with what Penny (Felicia Day) says earlier in her song. Something that was used to sound so innocently now sounds malicious and evil. Kinda sends a shiver up you spine but I love it haha =]

  • "I bring you pain, the kind you can't suffer quietly" for some reason, even though I'm not a masochist, that line excites me....

  • @theiaw Cuz when it's Dr. Horrible, everything gets a little exciting

  • @theiaw BDSM is a powerful thing.

  • @theiaw It's Neil Patrick Harris, almost anything he says should be "exciting"

  • @theiaw I completely agree. <333

  • @theiaw cause your a sadist you love to hurt people lol

i know i do (luckly i limit it to people who deserve it tho)

  • @theiaw It's because NPH said it. XD

  • I miss the Death Ray sounds :(

  • He has an AWESOME voice!

  • umm in the lyrics it says no sigh of penny its supposed to be no sign of penny

  • "...that's not a good sound..."

  • . . .One of the best songs ever sung by a villain in anything, ever . . .

  • @therealcritic28 One of the best songs sung by anyone. Ever. :)

  • @Marz1200

    AMEN TO THAT.

  • I think it kinda says something if the good dr. hesitated in killing hammer when hammer did not even flinch when pulling the trigger. Who was the real villain there?

  • @Sinprak also notice how at the beginning of the film, all he wanted was for penny to notice how evil he was, to "show her the way, show her he's a true villain" but in this sequence, he's glad that she's not around to see it

  • @Sinprak

    Well...you know... A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do? :(

  • @Sinprak

what gets me is when the freeze ray stops he looks at it, then points the gun AWAY from hammer,

he could have easily have shot him instead. but he didnt

  • @Sinprak not to mention that Hammer had to steal Penny from him (not because he likes her but because the dr. wants her, and hammer gets what he wants) to even make the dr consider it

  • @Sinprak That's the thing with Dr. Horrible's sing-along blog. Dr. Horrible is a better person than Captain Hammer. Its what makes it so awesome when he makes into the evil league of evil.

  • @Sinprak dont forget, the good Dr wanted to reshape the world to help those stepped on by corperate injustice and captain Hammer was the coperate tool :)

  • @Sinprak Well, from Captain Hammer's point of view he was being a big-damn heroe, singing his big song and then he's suddenly frozen by his arch-nemisis who is posing as an actual threat for the first time ever, so while I agree with you on the point you're making, I can't say I exactly fault Hammer for acting as such.

  • @Sinprak precisely!

  • @Sinprak think the whole idea of the film was built on him been the hero hammer been the villain , dont think it was meant to be cryptic

  • @Sinprak that was the entire theme of the movie. along with the cruelty of the human nature. point of view is everything.

  • this is my favorite dr. Horrible song...

  • I love how he never says "Everything I ever wanted" he always stops at "Everything I ever.." almost like foreshadowing? Subtle

  • -WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

  • lol Sheeple XD great song one of my faves :D

  • Neil has such a great voice... he should sing much more! Is there anything he can't so? :D

  • Does the "hammer meet nail" thing bother anyone else?

  • @BeautyIsContrast Yeah, it bothers me 'cause it's weird. Hammers beat nails into wood, so why would Dr. Horrible, who wanted a victory, say he was a nail?

  • Comment removed

  • @Narahiel All his attempts were constantly being defeated by captain Hammer. Metaphorically, Captain hammer was indeed a hammer while Horrible was a nail.

  • "That's not a good sound..."

  • My favorite song from this movie! It's such a sadly truthful song and sung so beautifully

  • But it's not sheeple it's sheep'll as in sheep will, says so on the official website... :(

  • @Mugwumpscutt22 It's a bit of a pun. See, "sheeple" are people who go with the flow, just like sheep. There's also the "sheep'll" thing you mentioned. :)

  • BURN, BURN, Yeah, it's two R's , Horri, BURN!

  • is Captain Hammer the dude off Castle???

  • @RemoNPHFan2000 Well, yes. He's also from this little show called Firefly. It's a western, but in space. You should check it out. It's a great series. Unfortunately, it was cancelled after its first season. If you have Netflix, you should be able to find it. They also had a movie made called Serenity. It's also quite.......shiny. You'll know what I mean once you watch it.

  • @RemoNPHFan2000 *facepalm

  • Anyone in or around the Kingston, Ontario area wanting to see a LIVE production of Dr. Horrible with a live band send me a message for details!

  • NPH is AMAZING :D <3 <3 <3

  • *freeze ray turns off*

    Dr.horrible:that not good

*punch to the face by captian hammer*

    Hammer:WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    (Favorite part XD)

  • sheep'll, not sheeple

  • @GBUSthePANDA

It's "sheeple." The phrase has already been coined. See XKCD #610 or anything else.

  • Head up, Billy Buddy. Theres no time for mercy.

  • He started with a sort of means-to-and-end thing at the beginning, the world sucks and he had to do bad things to fix it, right? This entire song is just illustrating his change of heart. "then I win, then I get everything I ever- all the cash, all the fame-" and then he adds "and social change" as an afterthought. He's lost himself. This song breaks my heart a little bit.

  • @Draikinator ik it breaks my heart too :'( I'm a little bit obsessed lol XP Well, not neccisarily OBSESSED, but I just seem to get a little bit too deep into stories and people I take stories and movies and plays a little bit literly :\

  • Two people can't hear the lies.

  • Am I the only one who got chills at 1:08?

  • @SilverAmphithere NO! I DID TOO! I <3 NPH!!!!! <3333

  • sheeple = people like sheep

  • @hummingbees It's actually sheep'll, as in sheep will. "Amazing how sheep will show up for the slaughter"

  • Comment removed

  • i always thought it was 'sheep'll, as in sheep will' or 'sheep all'.....but okay, i guess sheeple makes sense too...

  • joss whedon is a genius. always has. always will.

  • Hammer meet nail.

    Best line ever

  • Um. When he says "Sheep'll" he's making a conjunction out of "sheep" and "will".

"Sheep'll show up for the slaughter"

"Sheep will show up for the slaughter"

  • @Ninjewdi are you serious?

  • BURN! BURN! uh, yeah that's two r's. H-O-R-R- yeah right. BURN! best part XD

  • I think sheep'll is just a contraction(conjunction?) of sheep and will

  • I like this one, because this is the only track that puts lyrics to the main theme (the gung-ho, laser-death rant).

  • Haha "Anarchy, that i Run"

    Total Fail

  • @methodicallyChaotic that's exactly what I thought when I heard it xD Anarchy... fail

  • Sweeney Todd, Epiphany ;D

  • @1140jp Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog really made me think of Sweeney XD

And you're right. This song is the equivelant of Epiphany.

  • best part is, my friend's little brother looks just like dr horrible. especially when he puts on the goggles >< it's so cute.

  • I have about 400 of these views i listen to this constenly daily but it applys for all songs.

  • Comment removed

  • "why can't they see what I see, why can't they hear the lies?"

    best line

  • It would've been epic if you left in the "That's not a good sound...."

  • @ColdRiceBall

This is the iTunes version. The 'That's not a good sound' isn't on there. Same with Freeze ray. With the 'Wanna say, love your hair, there I go, mblhmbl, mumbling', then real mumbling is taken out....

  • It's a shame that the blaster sounds weren't in this recording, I personally think that they add a really nice touch.

  • I didn't even like Dr. Horrible all that much, but Neil, Nathon, and Felicia all sang absolutely wonderfully.

  • i love how his voice sounds because its all mad and evil haha this song is my favorite out of them all because at first it was kind of creepy but now i totally love it its catchy and i get it stuck in my head alot haha =)

  • this song started my obsession with Dr.Horrible. I memorized the songs 1 by 1 until now I only don't know "so they say", "penny's song", and "everyones a hero"

  • This is my favorite song out of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. <3 c:

  • I would have a huge orgasm if Amanda Palmer covered this.

  • @sinnab0n

or Terrance Zdunich... that would be AWESOME.

  • @ThatHauntFreak

    I just came, just saying.

  • i love how dark this song is untill he talks to the reporter :P

  • o.o this actually has been designated as the theme song for an rpg thread that i am in with a friend. Though, i prefer the evil lyrics to the actualy song..er...the first part.

  • That's great, he put Barney Stintson (for those unaware, a character from How I met you mother with Niel Patrick Harris as Barney Stintson) in the tag ^_^, also I think it's Sheep'll as well and I love this movie, I have the DVD too!

  • this song is soooo evil. i love it.

  • you cut off the best line

    "that's...not a good sound"

  • and its those little things that just add to Joss Whedon's genius

  • double meaning

  • According to the Dr. Horrible website, it's actually "sheep'll," as in, sheep will. But the "sheeple" version works as well.

  • the second part is the BEST

  • Seems more like sheeple(people+sheep).

    Double meanings probably.

  • Well, sheeple is still funnier^^ And it's quite covering.

  • I think it's supposed to mean both

  • The background piano sounds like Breaking the Habit by Linkin Park.

  • i like how he says "Everything I ever..." and he breaks off before saying "wanted" or whatever comes next. And then the same thing in the next song, they never complete the phrase "everything you ever"

  • I always thought that it always stopped with 'Everything I ever' or 'everything you ever' because he wasn't sure that this was what he *really* wanted.

  • That's probably exactly what the writers of this song meant by doing that. In fact, the movie's ending reflects on that sitaution after Penny dies.

It's supposed to showing us that Dr. Horrible does regret the price he had to pay to become a villain, but accepts his fate now that there's really nothing to do about it. The ending is really sad, I know.

  • the ending made me friggin cry, sad doesnt come close

  • u shoulda added the part *gun turning off noises* "well thats not a good noise"

  • It's not part of the soundtrack.

  • every little thing he sings sounds so individual and perfect and makes you shutter. he has such control over his voice.

  • @aliciayago I <3 NPH!!!!! :D

  • Oh, my favorite part is when the tone changes right at "everything's slipping awaaay..." and also just the way he says "rioting society"! Shudder-worthy. ^^

  • Agreed. <33

  • triple agree!!! XD

  • Oh my God, I LOOOVE this song.

"Why can't they see what I see? Why can't they hear the lies?"

"I bring you pain, the kind you can't suffer quietly"

"Society is slipping, everything's slipping away, soo.."

    My favorite parts. <33

  • You are right. It's on their actual website. They have all the lyrics.

  • "Now that your saviors

as still as the grave youre

    beginning to fear me

    Like cavemen fear thunder

    I still havej to wonder

    Can you really hear me"

my favorite part from this song lol

  • You may be right

  • xD That makes much more sense. Lawl.

  • "Sheeple" lol very clever

  • "Like cavemen fear thunder,

    I still have to wonder

Can you really hear me?" i love that part... not sure why.

  • "Anarchy, that I run!"

I love that line! It is absolutely lovely!

  • "society is slipping" zomg. L0VE iT.

  • This song is on the disturbing scale of Sweeney Todd. Especially the last few lines.

    Love it!

  • I LUV THIS MOVIE

  • "BURN BURN...yeah, it's 2 r's, h-o-r-r, yeah, right...BURN!" best line ever. joss whedon is stunning.

  • :) this song is stuck in my head

  • i agree! :-D
