LOVED this. Thank you so much. I have been on a John Hughes binge this weekend and have watched most of the stuff on here. I liked some of the other tributes equally, but yours is the one that made me smile the most. The others were mostly sad and bittersweet, but you chose the uplifting moments from his movies and set it to the music perfectly and beautifully and celebrated him. Afterall, John did make us laugh, right? I am ending my binge tonight with a smile on my face. Thank you!!!
I'm 13 right now and in about a year 1/2 I'll become a freshman. And I can say that these movies are helping me get through this weird time. He has also inspired me to be a filmmaker.
John Hughes I will never forget about your movies!
thank you so much i remember growing up on these movies that made my teenage world make sense for and for other people.he didnt even use sexy people like they do now,he used regular people like molly and anthony and matthew or a judd nelson that is what is missing in teenage films like this era
That was awesome, I have showed my kids these movies and they love them all. His films are timeless, and covers teen culture no matter what generation.
0.38 Watts playing the drums. Pants at 1.05. 3.48 Walking through the museum. I could name every second that i think is good in this AMAZING video. Its all exceptional. Well done. R.I.P Mr Hughes.
This is by far the best tribute I've seen, hands down. I don't even know how many times I've watched it since August 7. Thanks for putting it together. Awesome job.
Good job! nope GREAT JOB! I absolutely love it. I am still tearing up b/c it brought back great memories. I blogged about JH and even posted it on my blog if that's okay. Thanks!
I congratulate you on such a fine piece of editing. This is a touch of genius and a triumph. The films of John Hughes will live on forever. Again, congratulations on a job well done...
Saw this at the Hollywood Outdoor Pretty in Pink, and had to dig a bit here on You Tube to find it. Really nice work: I can tell you really know these movies well, and I think that the way that you've sync'd everything to the song would make Mr. Hughes very proud.
Glad you checked it out here after the Hollywood Outdoor screening.
Yeah, it was great watching this with a live audience on the big screen! I've been a John Hughes fan ever since these movies came out. A lot of passion went into putting the piece together. Thanks!
I'm very happy this touched you in that way. A lot of fans are really connecting with my tribute and it's very gratifying to see this kind of outpouring for John Hughes and his films in general. Thank you!
The only reason I left out "Weird Science" is because it didn't quite fit into the teen angst catagory of Hughes other films. However, I'm a big fan of the movie!..."How about a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ash tray". Classic!
Your filmography tribute to John Huges is stellar! I have watched it twice within the last 30 minutes and am sending it to all my online friends and family. I am a boomer who graduated from high school ( in a small midwestern town - south of Chicago ) in the 60's. John Hughes' films are timeless, made so as depicted in the opening scenes of your tribute to him ( friendship, jealousy, angst, etc.) His films will live on for generations. Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you!...glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I really wanted to set the mood in this piece for his teen films with the opening run of what many experience in high school...friendship, jealousy, angst, etc.
wowzenshizen! It's great to see all the films I grew up with, and a little scary to realize they are over, and that he is dead. I am sad. Time is so odd. Living is odd. But what unadulterated fun!
I guess he has moved on, but thank humans these films continue, in my heart and in Hollywood.
Fabulous tribute to one the the best directors . . who gathered what he saw us all experiencing . . packaged it up . . . and shared it with all of us . . for pure wonderful . . entertainment and enjoyment ..and for our emotional catharsis. Thank You John. Thank You LAFilmcutter....... funguy/PGProducer
Yes! A proper John Hughes tribute! Great work, his movies MADE my childhood/teens. They make my adulthood too, since I am 30, sitting home on a Saturday night watching John Hughes tributes.----Bravo
excellent video! your tribute is the best that i've seen so far!
R.I.P. John Hughes growing up would have been a real nightmare if i didn't have ur wonderful movies and ur characters to keep me company they were not only my heroes they were my friends
Absolutely loved this - You know you're a child of the 80s when you know every word to this song - and recognize all the scenes from the John Hughes films in this clip! Thank you for sharing - I'm 16 again!
Hey, if they ran this on TV or online officially, I would not complain at all! Now that Hughes has passed, I just want everyone to be able to remember those incredible moments in his teen movies, and connect. Thank you!!
still can't get enough of this WELL-DONE tribute!!! i have sent it all over ( hope you don't mind??)..NOW you need to do one for his more grown-up films..Mr.Mom-Planes,trains, auto- Uncle Buck-Christmas Vacation- Vacation-Home alone...etc etc..see the guy was just amazing ...and i'm pissed his passing did NOT get the attention..of that Billy Mays (pitch-man)..WTF!!!???..thanks again for THE BEST vid-tribute!
You put a big, big smile on my face and I even LOL'd a couple of times - and I think that's the best way to remember Mr.Hughes, with a smile. Thank you John, and thank you LAFilmcutter! 11/10!
