Okay about this whole American Revolution deal. When the war started Americans tried to ally with france and spain, but neither of them thought americans were strong enough to actually win.Americans fought awhile by themselves until a battle (I think it was saratoga?) that convinced the world that they could really win. Then the french joined them., and helped them win. I wouldn't call this "saving" seeing as the americans had a good shot at winning anyways, but there you go. That's all i know.

Dude, someone paid for me when i was a child, for being in good health. All France paid for it with taxes as you said. At the same time...smokers contribute a huge amount to the health service here in the UK via the tax they pay on a packet of ciggs (aound 90% is actually tax) and so I don't think getting rid of smoking is a good idea :)
