  • Every time I hear somebody mention the CSI episode being accurate I always ask another question. This one is mine.

"Do you also believe that shows like WWE are real too?"

  • ....oh my... he's very intelligent and charismatic. I'm very happy he heads up this event. Too many people talk without thinking, he encourages people to think before speech, especially involving something as controversial as "furries." I'm not a furry...no.. but I am a fursuit/costume enthusiast, but, even so, it's a good turn to see this kind of awareness going on.

  • Unklecage knows me like on AC as skittlez

  • rule #34 relates to everything....EH-VUR-E-THANG

it even applies to candy, sandwiches, etc

  • Lol uncle kage is absolutely right.

I used to hate furries then it turned out that one of my friends was an 'In the closet' furry. I couldn't believe it for a second then he explained it to me.

    This was my reaction:

"You mean I was calling myself a furfag this entire time?"

    And so I was. XD

    Cudos to uncle kage.

  • Words every furry should listen to.

  • I found about this video. Hopefully one day discrimination against us furries will end.

  • A have a friend who is a furry. His name is Kyle.

  • I love the way this was put and how it was handled. GREAT analogies-- I'm going to start explaining things this way. :)

  • @ThePaxilrose Look up a few news reports on furries.

Or watch the CSI episode "Fur and Loathing."

  • @ThePaxilrose lol, he's not lying, why would he have any reason to lie? I'm sure he'd be happy to have more people attend, but Kage is not the kind of person who lies to do that. Plus, this video is only addressing furries in case they are ever encountered by someone inquiring about the convention, he's not saying the media is going to be swarming to Pittsburgh to report on anthrocon. As a matter of fact, he's not saying that anthrocon is that popular to begin with.

  • @ThePaxilrose Well, if you watched the rest of the videos, you'll learn that 7 other local news papers and stations, The National Geographic channel, and Reuters all wanted to report on the convention. :)

  • @ThePaxilrose No, the media just wants to gain something called "shock factor", it's a classic trick to get better ratings. And the furries have grown substantially larger in recent years, and have had some rather unpleasant media appearances in the past, so the media is still using that to gain this shock factor. The fandom has sort of been given a bad name, and all this is doing is to help other furs to sort of "clean it up".

  • Oh this is posted by lionkingg300, watsup bro.

  • Hahaha, i love how this guy speaks, i haven't been to anthrocon, yet, but I just started seeing this guy, and it's pretty awesome how he explains the fandom.

  • Thanks for posting this up. That way I can know what to do.

  • Oh my gosh, I love Kage. He's like.. Epically amazing. <3

  • to answer kage's question about why the furry fandom is singled out. Cause it's not human well partially not human. Then again that's only one possible answer. Another is that they get a kick out of the reaction. poke something that's used to being poked it won't flinch, poke something that isn't use to it will and depending on where it might get a very big reaction. A third possible answer is that it's still a unknown and misunderstood fandom to the public. It might be all three.

  • But yeah, I agree with Kage on all of his points :>

  • I have to say G4 is getting better :3

  • Cartoons... face palms! I've never see U.K mention the CSI (LV) episode with furries which is what the media think what furries are.

I know that furries around here get a bad rap and even get the cops sent after them, even if they were hired for a show. But i don't agree with the cartoon label which has become the hollow " excuse " of the fandom as being people reconnecting with their youth and cartoons. Not every furry is so void of life and spirit no matter what society dictates.

  • @aleutiansrealm Using the terms "Cartoon Animal Fans" to describe the Furry fandom is very much sugar-coating and simplifying what is a very diverse fandom. But the terms works when you have little or no time to explain the furry fandom and need to use the simplest terms that curious outsiders and the media can understand easily.

  • @wildbilltexas Well there is a rather large downside to that "sugar coating" . Most media won't believe a cover story these days (particularly in the US.) and will start digging deeper right away and usually covertly. The G4 tv review of FC 2011 got mostly favourable reviews even if it showed a little frisky content which with that particular reporter work out quite well. As for the covert reporting on the fur cons, I will give Kage points for that accurate statement.

  • @aleutiansrealm That's already been tried. The early furcons in the 90's were totally open to the media, and because they let in bad reporters who wrote exploitative stories is the main reason why furries have a bad reputation now. I'd rather see many more stories like the ones from Anthrocon this year focusing on the art and fun of the fandom rather than just the sex.

  • @wildbilltexas Hi. If you need something to possibly give you pause for concern. There is a new or semi-new tv series called "FanBoy Confessions" . It has a few episodes on the furry fandom including many of the more popular furs in the video bytes.

The shows also showcases D&D, Vampire, Werewolf, & Sci-fi " sub cultures" .

  • @wildbilltexas BTW it's on sci-fi channel or SPACE channel in Canada.
