Thank you so much ..I enjoyed Ms. Galou wonderful voice and delicate performance ..Beautiful images ..Thank you so much for posting this exquisite piece !
I recognise the tune from one of Vivaldi's instrumental pieces or was it vice versa - the vocal piece came first? Baroque composers were always recycling pieces of their music.
@MrAbellink In addition to "Teuzzone," Vivaldi used this aria in his operas "La costanza trionfante" and "Ercole su'l Termodonte." He reused this material and repurposed it as a flute concerto (RV 434) and also a recorder concerto (RV 442).
OK, I'm not familiar with Teuzzone at all, and yet this instrumental accompaniment feels so familiar. Is this a case of Vivaldi borrowing from himself as so many Baroque composers would?
@pow309 This aria was apparently very popular. It first appeared in his opera "La costanza trionfante." In addition to "Teuzzone," he reused it in "Ercole su'l Termodonte," and this material was borrowed and repurposed as a flute concerto RV 434 and a recorder concerto RV 442.
Thank you for posting this! Beautiful aria, and wonderful singing, as always by Ms. Galou. Very nice pictures in excellent taste, too!
