  • why is there a Spanish flag, but no Swedish or Portuguese?

  • I eat the swedish diet!! :D And it probably works because i've never been fat ^^

  • GB also considers potatoes as starch

  • Where is the swedish flag?

  • @gideon359, I would prefer an answer from someone who wasn't a racist! Get a life because i is obvious you have none. I can't believe I even wasted my valuable time responding back to you.

  • Ok, but what about the food group for Africa?!?!

  • @Ladyyah In africa the guidelines are: EAT WHAT YOU CAN FIND INCLUDING MONKEYS.

  • @Gideon359 Well obviously you know nothing about Africa. In Northern and Eastern Africa, we have some of the most healthy diets in the world, with everything being organic and minimal simple carbs. Plus, our animals are treatead better and get more exercise, so that = better meat. Most of us don't eat pork, either, which is better for us in the long run. Please keep your ignorance to a minimum.

    ~ from Eritrea

  • @Ladyyah well it depends which country in Africa, most of the countries don't have a national guideline that should be followed. I'm from Tanzania and there is no guidelines. I would think countries in North Africa and the country of South Africa MAY have guidelines, but thats an assumption and you know what assumptions do to you.

  • Chinese food is the best..... i dont realy eat it,

becouse i dont like eating scorpions and shit like that,

    but its healthy...

In usa they eat only sugar in fat !

  • i think it's strange that we humans can fly into space and perform brain surgery but we still have no certain idea what foods and quantities are best for our health.

  • Obesity is an enormous problem all over the western world and eating more vegetables might be a step in the right direction, but I just have to point out that she totally misinterpreted the Swedish food circle. Those are not our guidelines on dosage of different foods, it's actually just a way of categorizing the different food groups and saying: Gotta eat em all!

  • I suck at nutrition. I'm usually too tired or don't have enough time to eat from all of the food groups. I'm surprised I haven't died yet. I have supplements and vitamins almost every day, which helps. I know protein and fiber are some of the things you can't get from pills. I'm sure vegetables are good for you, but it's hard to have them every day. I can't bring a garden with me every day to eat while I'm at work.

  • u r fat because u should grow ur own food lazy americans , and eating fruit and vegies is not healthy the government is telling u shit and feeding u shit , dont belive this bitch , she should tell the truth and vegies and fruit are chemically grown to make u fat , and kill u slowly and ther doing a good job

  • In some countries ..they wish they had the circle.

  • American's are fat, slow witted, and choose to watch lots of TV about celebs and boring as fucking hell sit-coms. When they get tired of watching TV, they drive their gas guzzling SUVs to the mall to buy garbage at super low prices made in China. If they changed their diet, I have a strange suspicion that their TVs would be turned off, their political leaders would be tarred and feathered, and they would reverse their unbelievable obesity epidemic!

  • damn it, the problem isnt whether you are a vegetarian or eat meat, its the GODDAMN fast food places and SODA and ARTIFICIAL CRAP.

When the world ate natural food they were more healthy, doesnt matter wht shit they ate. Nowadays like half of america is obese. There needs to be some McDondalds arson, becasue they keep serving McHeart Attacks to everyone that walks in their store.

  • I wanna marry her!

  • Er, since turning vegetarian, the variety of food has grown massively. I eat much better than I did as a meat eater, and as a result feel healthier and cleaner.

Protein is easy to obtain as a veggie. Americans are having on average 400% recommended daily allowance of protein due to eating too much meat. This is causing many health issues as well as obesity. Vegetarians are far healthier on average and live longer.

  • @CompassionateChap And the foods have more variety of colors instead of just white, yellow and brown.

  • How does vegitarians be healthy? They dont get there protein and eating only one kind of food is very bad

  • Buzybuzz you are an imbecile with absolutely no idea about nutrition or anything!!

Vegetarian diets are incredibly healthy, and the very fact that vegetarians live longer completely puts your weak argument to bed. Try to research more eh?

  • Yes...both in USA and Canada...grains should NOT be the emphasis! We are overfed and undernourished!

  • Over all in the states if people ate like they were supposed to many companies would lose monney. Everything is directed towards manking monney at the expence of peopls health.

  • natalie you need to make up your mind and commit to a theory. You are like... "it could be this, it could be that, whose to know? blah blah blah"

If you go to westonaprice . org you will learn that vegetarianism is extremely dangerous. What we need to talk about here is the nutrient density of animal foods. YOu need to stop hedging your bets and look at the evidence that shows eating animal foods are far superior to maintaining health than plant foods.

  • High fiber fruits and veggies and also a moderate amount of exercise. These fast food chains care more about their profits than people's health. The formula for health is simple we have the power and the will to make the best choices.

  • the canadian food guide has changed... fruits and vegetables are now recommended in equal or greater portions depending on the age group

  • sweden rules!!!

  • Very Very Use Full Dear

  • I'll stay to the Swedish one, it has worked for me and everyone I know.

  • "I am gonna talk to you about the food guidelines which I think is the best" (Vegetables in the background) *hint hint fellow americans!* LAWLSKEEE

  • i love you natalie...LOL

  • I want to hear about Vietnamese food.

  • The USDA food pyramid was created for the purpose of selling the products of the corporate food producers, not to promote the health of US citizens. It is completed backwards and should be completely fismissed by americans.

  • Metabolic Typing!

  • It's so sad there aren't much "real food" left on store shelves. Processed food provides more suger in itself then in the past, which means that we eat much more suger then the "recommended" amount if we eat a lot of non-real food. To save Earth, world economy, and farmers, I personally think we should consume organic food.

  • And here I would think you would find the Japanese guidelines would be most accurate.

  • you have the perkiest breasts on you tube.

  • She is trying to teach us to be fit, but I'd like to shuck fit out of her. Then, perhaps, we'll all be good with our diets.

  • i wanna bang natalie in the shower.

  • the canadian food guide has changed and now the vegetables are on the top and the grains are underneath

  • @mnbm786 comments like this sicken me. She's trying to improve your life through lifestyle changes, not her "perky breasts"

    get a life mnbm.

  • Thanks Natalie for all your videos!! This video was very interesting.

  • More beans pleEEEEEEEEEEEZE! [Beans beans, they're good for your heart, the more you eat, the more you fart. The more you fart the better you feel, so why don't you have beans for a meal?]

  • Everyone should eat paleo, lots of meat, vegetables, fruit. NO dairy or grains.

  • I would have said Japan #1, China #2

  • water duh

  • yeah i think sweden is right :p

  • I think one of the principles to make these guides is based on how much crops or fruit or meat they can produce or find in their land, so that's the explanation of why no guides are true as they are not totally based on what they need.

  • all the diagram used for food guides all over the world are cute. LoL

How come they didn't get any food guides from middle east, africa or south america? Just curious

also just curious are there any food guide pyramids that base the foods on importance rather than amount?

  • I believe that the larger ammounts suggested imply the importance of such foods in your diet, more so than others.

  • No countries in South America? Argentina Peru Brasil? or what about Africa?...o well.

  • You seem to know what you are talking about, however, your grammar needs some work. Your "is" and "are" verb usage is horrendous.

  • Sweden is right!

  • your an idiot

  • The Swedish "food circle" is telling you what food types you should eat each day, not the proportions. It is based on the US "The daily 7". It's the Tallriksmodell ("plate model") that is the official advice to laymen on the proportions. The advice is very similar to that of the UK: Same amount of starchy foods, and fruits & vegetables.

  • Transgenic food is shit and that's what the US is selling to Latin American countries why dont they eat it?!!!

what a shame that US is never conscious of what they do.Bunch of idiots!!!! (the government)

  • wow Natalie is beautifull and I thinck that the guides based on fruits and vegetable are the best.

  • no wonder, I recently ate swedish food and I realised that there are not so much carbohydrates like rice or noodles in it.

  • if i ate that many grains i would be sooo fat!

all u need to thrive is raw fuits and veggies.

  • USA FOOD IS CRAP 100 percent.!

  • agreed

  • We have plenty of good food, unfortunately most people choose to eat the garbage processed "food" instead of real food.

  • I think they should enforce cooking class in public schools instead of it being an elective. The problem is that most people don't know how to cook so they keep ordering out or buying microwavable processed food.

  • @DRDNIBOY

I guess what you wrote here and the extremely ignorant things in your profile page demonstrate your incredible intellect.

  • where is japan :(

  • Yeah, you know the country with the longest life expectancy isn't listed. XD

  • Thanks For this Video.

    I needed this.

  • I liked this video. I have never seen a comparison between various countries food guide lines. Nice job! On a side note (intended to be humerous) I live in Canada and can't help but laugh at the back drop chosen when showing Canada's food guide. Perhaps our country reccomends more carb intake due to the fact that we have all those mountains to climb and all that snow to wade through, lol!

Thanks for the videos and please keep up the excellent work!

  • Lol, I know what ya mean. I am Canadian too and I still don't see why they think we all live near mountains.

  • That was fascinating. I haven't seen this kind of comparison of food guides anywhere else. The heavy emphasis on grains is a relatively new thing in human history so it doesn't really reflect the real needs of our bodies. But we've all been taught to love carbs. Me included. How can we overcome this craving for carbs?

  • Easy, read up on what carbs do to the body, especially wheat. There is a reason why the NWO wants you to have a high carb diet. It works as a natural Prozac, makes you kind of dumbed down and docile. That combined with the fluoride in the water makes a perfectly easily controllable society. Same with the low-fat diet. Good fats are essential to brain function, heart health, skin, lowering bad cholesterol, preventing cancer etc. The grains that aren't high in protein need to be avoided!!

  • alexswigg is a hater... it takes skills to put out entertaining and informative videos... show some luv and class, playa.

  • And look who has the healthiest people. Not the Americans. Even the ones who follow the food guide. Sweden, Portugal, China, Korea, Germany, Mexico. These are the healthiest countries. Obviously America is doing something wrong.

  • Natalie! I cant wait for the next video! I would really like if you list things in text next to you sometimes because you talk a lot and its hard to to remember all the numbers you say.

I initially thought you were super annoying but what you say is great! Way to win me over

  • That old Canada food guide had a side chart with it... its image was for athetic people like soliders... who need to eat like that in the winter time type deal.... I got bored once and found the supplemental chart and I'm glad they got a new one out because how many people would know that there was another chart to go with it? O_o

  • Nathalie, go to Hollywood! Became an actress!

    You're beautiful! :-)

  • Natalie I must know. Is corn good at all or should I eat the green beans my mom prepares with them instead? Love your info!

  • Canada has a new food guide now, the grain is 2nd now. I saw a dietician recently. I wasn't very impressed how she poo-pooed protein and vitamins. I read like 20+ books from doctors and nutrition researchers, and whatnot, and she's showing me stupid little plastic pieces of bread and banana like I'm 3 y/o. And I'm like that's about 70 grams of carbs right there, and negligable protein and not complementary protein either. She went 2school 4years 2 show ppl plastic food like they are 3.

  • LOL! This is the Illuminati education. Apparently they are trying to legally kick all the people who aren't educated like this to make sure that people stay stupid.

  • So as a cannibal, it's probably best to eat Swedes.

  • Oh yes she is hot, and what a dam lucky husband she has :P

  • We're not related, you and I.

  • i think you should check the guide of israel food

  • mmm she's hot

  • AAAAAA, it`s really, really interesting topic, but she`s very, very annoying

  • This is very educational and I thank you, but Dear God I wish we could eat as many Oreo cookies as we wanted:-)Oh yeah and Ice Cream too:-) Cheers.

  • oops, wrong place

  • The whole argument of "meant to eat" is nonsensical. Our body posesses all the processes to break down both plant and animal nutrients, if we hadn't been omnivores we wouldn't have survived long enough to be selective or creative in how we eat. We're evolving beyond the need for both plant and animal matter, though, and becoming photovores.

  • Looking forward to the next video.

  • A cliffhanger, I like it.

  • my god you are cute! I had to watch the vid twice to get the content, the first time I was just focused on you. Thanks for upping this, it was very informative for me.

  • This is a great topic. Thanks for covering this report.

  • Based on readings on ayurveda

20% Fruit (Selection of sweet/sour/bitter fruits depending on your doshas)

30% vegetables (again root, green, sweet, sour bitter veg depending on your doshas)

    30% grains,beans,legumes,rice

    15% dairy

    5% seed oils,dry fruits

  • fruits and vegetables should make up about 70%of total daily food-intake. No sweets, 20% wheat-made products as bread, and 10% meat.

  • Why don't you mention average weights, heart disease stats, etc for each nation when comparing the guidelines. Also, does genetic makeup have an effect? Ideal Native American diets are a lot different. So, it is possible each group requires something different. Can u include any data to answer these questions?

  • You're awesome! I have the Filipino Diet!--minus the roasted pig

  • i think i love you!! haha very cute!! MExico is right hehe:P estas preciosaa!!!:)

  • Cool Video!

  • very informative, but also an enjoyable experience, cause you're pretty to watch :)

    love your eyes

  • Thank you for more interesting information.

  • Oh no you di'eeent pull a "To be continued" on us!

  • All this won't matter, becuase in 2009 'codex alimentarius' will start modifying food that you eat, and thus will start "population reduction" and ppl are purposely unaware of this.

  • thank you for mentioning this a7green. People need to be more aware of the codex alimentarius, and realize its sinister roots.

  • No prob, just trying to inform ppl.

  • Won't matter cuz the Earth will end in Dec 21, 2012 based on evidence presented by the Aztecs. :P

  • Yeah, so far their predictions have been very precise.

  • theyve predicted the end of the world forever, and nothins happened, ill believe it when i see it

  • could u explain a bit what that is? ive nvr heard of it

  • Actually, search it on YouTube, LOOK for the pic of skull crossbones on the vid, best summary.

  • looked up the russian food pyramid and they have the following at the top of their pyramid :

    "Others: Fats, Oils, Sweets;

    Lard

    Vodka

    Butter

    Sour Cream

    Kvas(small beer)

    Eat Sparingly"

haha the rest of their pyramid is much like the Us one, yes they have a dairy section and they STILL put butter and sour cream in the "other" category. I can't believe they recomend drinking vodka "sparingly." That's no way to drink! You gotta pour on that draft!

Seriously tho, the Russian food pyramid is wack!

  • Grains are garbage.

I'll really be looking forward to your opinion on what the diet should be.

  • Interesting! Waiting for your next video.

  • HAHA, you don't think any of them are right! I love your tips and I am super excited for your next video.

  • Love your videos ! would you mind letting us know what is your education in nutrition? I am curious to know how you obtained all these wonderful informations!

  • the russian food guidelines...

    vodka

    pickles

and 8 glasses a day of pickle juice

  • I don't go by the US food pyramid, I go by what Nattie says lol :P

  • A cliffhanger?! GRRR!

I always saw government health guidelines as analogous what any mafia boss says will keep me 'healthy'.

  • HOw Young are you Natalie? are you single?

  • she's married.

  • That's never stopped the Zachmeister before...

  • Good work! Keep em coming

  • where is south america, peru and bolivia have better piramid of food than mexico... please help american people to realize that mexico its not all latin countries

  • she tried her best. can't talk about everyone. notice she didnt include any of africa, russia, etc. so don't take any offense :)

  • i agree with you... just im tired to see american information mention mexico as a representative of latin people... there is a lot countries here and all of them are so different. but america always use mexico. its the same with africa, there is so many countries there but they mention africa as one big ... but i know she tried her best, thanks linzizzle for the comment really

  • notice how if I were really curious, I could look up the common, Russian diet on the internet. You know, that thing I used to watch this video? I'm sure it's found in a few key strokes on google. Probably in less time than it took to write this comment. :-D

  • Yeah I don't even agree with our own pyramid. Grains should actually be in more limited quantity. If I ate grains the way our pyramid says, I'd be tired ALL THE TIME. Carbs knock me out and I end up having to sleep it off (usually 2 hours) if I eat too many carbs. Not to mention our grain supply is nearly 100% contaminated with mycotoxins (fungal poisons), one of the most carcinogenic substances known to man. Should eat more fruits and veggies I say, and avoid all sugars except those in fruits.

  • Hey Natalie, those food pyramids and guidelines - it's all a big food industry/pharma industry conspiracy, right? right? :) I mean Kellogg's is clearly behind that 40% cereals (+bread...) number! :) They would never make a pyramide and recommend on first place sth they don't produce or make alot of money with...

You should definitely try to give an answer on why the countries can't agree on what mixture is healthy.

I'm from Germany, btw, and this was my conspiracy theory of the day.

  • heheh I agree... they're probably all made by food companies

  • you remind me of the Alyson Hannigan character in American Pie. You even speak like her.

  • Really eye opening. There was an article, I think in National Geographic that showed pics of what people eat from around the world. I think there might not be one right way to eat- because of our different metabolisms and whatever else that influences that. Do you consider beans a vegetable? I've always thought of them more as a grain with added protein.

  • There are 4 basic blood types in human society, type A, type AB, type B, and type O. The diet for each individual person should be based on blood type. Im type A and have been on the Vegan diet since 1996, this allowed me to overcome all my health problems like athsma as well as reducing my likelyhood of catching colds and flu's. I believe in practicing my own health care, Im the one who knows best how to take care of ME.

  • Keep eating hamburgers and you'll end up with green blood and heart failure. ;/

  • Enjoy snacking on peanut butter sandwiches all the time. During the summer heat I can drink nearly a gallon of apple juice every day, that way nobody can say "Im full of it!"

  • Very interesting Natalie. I live in GB so its interesting to see the different food wheels.

I Guess Japan might be interesting. I guess if Im honest I eat too much meat and fat. tThough I do try to eat my 5 portions of fruit and veg. Thats the guideline here in UK also figures are worked on a 2000 Calorie daily intake. Protein isnt about 55 Gramms correct? (roughly 2 oz for US).

  • They lost all their muscle tissue. 1LB of muscle burns 35 calories as opposed to 1LB of fat burning 2 calories. It's a vicious cycle and the whole high carb low fat scam that has been forced down our throats is the reason we as Amercians are soooooo fat! Low GI is the only way to go.

  • i wish theyd change that intro

  • See here's the thing. It is very hard to get enough protein unless you eat a fair amount of meat. That's just the way it is. Some can do it but most people who do the low fat thing just do not get enough protein. So what happens is people do the low fat diet lose weight but in the process lose a ton of lean muscle tissue. So when they begin to eat normally again they gain all the LBS back very quickly. Then when they try to diet again it's harder to lose weight becuase......

  • I enjoyed your video Natalie :). But I can't help but wonder what basis these countires actually use to make their food guidelines? I am amazed that so many countries can't agree on what constitutes a good daily food intake. Aren't foods that are healthy for you, healthy for you? Why is it so complicated?

  • Sweden, I want to live there ! :D

  • Great vid, and I eagerly await the next installment.

  • Another thing, is homework, which should be outlawed. Schools have kids solidly 8 hours every weekday, that should be plenty to educate them. Nope, schools fail. So they dump so much homework on kids, just stressing on it and working on it takes up 6 hours of a kids home time every weekday. Kids never ever have a *chance* to learn basic home skills like cooking or cleaning or other valuable life skills from their parents. The tv, placed in the center of the home, and schools, destroy it.

  • Actually the school I have allows you to pick commercial cooking and life transitions (learning to pay bills, buying homes). I don't know what type of school you go to...

  • whole grains are basically glue in your gut..not good.

  • Its this subconcious psychological predisposition against dirt people have that you must attack, at least it was for me, to gravitate to sweet sexily markted and sanitized packaged (fake) foods. I assumed that because something was packaged, it was 'clean', uncontaminated, and therefore safe to eat. And if its packaged, it was made by machines under quality control, more 'modern', and therefore more advanced (like a technology scale). WRONG. WRONG. WRONG! Dirt is magic. It can grow things

  • very interesting video, it would be interesting to correlate the different levels of health as compared to the specific diet a people have. Thanks , and keep them coming!

  • My new gf, who was and still is a wonderfully beautiful girl, but is now very overweight, went into Kroger and bought a POM Wonderful Pomegranate Cherry 100% juice drink. She loves the stuff. My god. 16 fluid ounces, 2 servings per container, 33g sugar per serving. That's 66 grams of sugar in the size of a Can of Coke. I explained and warned what a horrible hell it is to be confused and fatigued all the time from diabetes, but it just doesn't register.

  • Most people's nutrional education is not much better than a 7 year old. A 7 year old buys a Snickers bar, because all things equal, it tastes better, so it must be better food for you. Dirt tastes bad, so you don't eat dirt; grapefruits, rye bread, vegtables, etc. taste bad and are boring, so you don't eat those. The crooked food industry knows our evolutionary predisposition for sugar (to eat fruits when in season), and uses it against us for profit at the expense of our health.

  • You need to have a Bachelors in Nutrtion Science like Natalie to navigate the minefield that is the modern grocery store. Its not about people making bad 'life style' choices and eating the wrong food. Its more like a game of Russian Roulette with the odds against you. When you buy food at a grocery store, you buy it with the assumption its not going to make you sick or cause you health problems.

  • What is throughly rotten and underhanded about the USDA food pyramid, is that 'sugar' is placed at the very top. The eye naturally starts reading from top to bottom, and tends to focus and return to the top, or if lazy, gets no further down. Further, you assume what is at the 'top' is the best and most expensive, and you want the best. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sugar shouldn't even be in the diagram at all, for a healthy diet, and definatly not at the 'top'.

  • Seems to me like the North American food guide was designed to get people to eat lots of the stuff that is cheapest and easiest to produce.

  • hemp seed nut rocks my world
