Fantastic. Awareness is out there. MM would certainly appreciate this May her light look down on you Child of God and Goddess Child with his third eye open Thank you Thank you Thank you A million times Thank you
Thank you a lot. :) I am very pleased that my work could provoke such enthusiasm and appreciation. This song was very sincere when it was written. However, I seem to be in a completely different place,a much more agnostic place spiritually, and a much more complex place musically, so I don't really feel I can take a lot of credit for that enthusiasm anymore, especially not the kind implications about me personally. (cont'd)
Still, I look back to it with a particular fondness, and I'm glad that it is appreciated, it is verification to me that art takes a certain amount of independence once it is distributed and 'set in stone,' and that it can influence people long after it is created.
Thank you. :) I'm very pleased to know that one of my songs has reached somebody on such a profound level. I haven't really played this song for a long time, I guess probbaly because I can see how flawed it is from a structural level. But it was very sincere, and I've lost touch with that at least some.
Well, son, :D, i am a muslim, and i only can tell u that such person as u are mentioned in the holy Qur'an. They are named as the ones who worship "female idols" or statues, i wish i could help u about it, anyways, thanks for the video and playing, i like it! :) Peace!
There you go again, pointing out very isolated times in which real musicians sing somewhat like you. Lou Reed has good pitch. When he does sing, melodically, he hits the right notes. He's not Mariah Carrey, but he gets the musical job done. And he didn't get any formal training, as you suggested one would need to have adequate pitch.
I would assume that if he was covering Lennon, he'd want to actually sing the melody right if he could, which he hasn't done. But really, I don't care. I'm not going to go out of my way to try to work on pitch and kill the passion. Maybe some day, but right now, I simply don't care that much. My mission in life is not to please the type of musicians who nitpick about pitch and rhythm instead of looking at the broader more significant picture.
What's the broader more significant picture? You're not expressing anything musically if you can't get the right sounds. You're just yelping discordant notes, and there's nothing artistic about that. If you're still intent on making dissonance work, like Philip Glass, or John Cage, you'll still need to master good ole' fashion melodicism and correct pitch.
Picasso's cubism didn't come ex nihlo. He was initially an excellent draftsman.
See, I don't really care that much about making it "sound right." Most people in this generation look up to people like Lennon and Cobain rather than Beethoven or Cage or something like that. You can argue Lennon had great pitch, but really he never mastered technical profiency. And Cobain did not have great pitch.
I'm interested in protesting society and evoking emotions, which I've been successful at doing on some level with my music. I made the school paper playing this song at a woman's rights rally. I'm not going to sit around exhausting myself with the technical aspects of music right now, I'm far too depressed to do that.
Art to me is about self-expression and revolution, not technical adequacy, which is why I called your concept of art bougie earlier. Because you're thing seems to be, "Get right pitch or get off the stage" rather than "Say something or get off the stage." Dig?
Think of it this way. A good actor is someone that speaks his character's words with a certain intonation, a certain rhthym, and so on, in order to express the intended emotions. Right? A good musician does the same thing, but with sounds. You need to get the right notes if you want to express anything. That's not technical proficiency, but just the bare minimum in music. You need to understand how important that is.
Honestly, you come off to me as a pseudo-intellectual. Melodies are often repeated, and the songs I mentioned have derivative MELODIES as well. I'm not supid, and I know that my melody is like the Loco-motion, I'm just not sure it's that big of a deal, really. I've thought about changing it, but I don't feel anything else fits. The songs I mentioned have derivative melodies, particularly "Just Like Starting Over" and "It's So Hard."
See, honestly, John said there were a couple different types of "fans" he had. He said there were the ones that truly appreciated what he was doing from an artistic standpoint. Then there were the ones that were just masturbated to his music, using it for their own indulgence. I say to you something similar you said to me: I would expect differently from you being a Lennon fan. I would expect you would look into expression and meaning rather than technical proficiency.
Dude, whatever. You can tell yourself pitch in music has nothing to do with expression - but that won't make it so. I'm not too worried what you think of me because you're just so bad at what you do.
That's not an ad hominem. We're talking about your musical skills, so when I say "you're just so bad at what you do" I'm not diverging from what's relevant to what's merely a personal attack - they're both the same thing here.
I wish this discussion was carried out on the pages of one of your other videos, since this song actually isn't TOO bad. The song is just a little bit catchy, and you're not totally off pitch here.
Should we continue on your "You know you're right" or your "Yer Blues" page? Just kiddin'.
"Heart and Soul" and "Sh-Boom," several blues and folk songs, certainly melody is repeated plenty.
And you can apply your criticisms wherever the hell you want, I just personally haven't received any indication from you that you would know what art is if it bit you in the ass.
Ok, you ONLY sing badly and have bad rhthym. They might have done that here and there, but they also had periods of musical brilliance. That's the difference between you and them. You at your best, is them at their worst (the worst they can possibly be).
Okay, what's your point? Why are you trying so hard to put me down? I don't care that I'm not technically proficient, I've been able to evoke emotion and thought in people and that's enough for me. And we're talking about the derivative thing, so really I think you're just trying to get me to admit that I suck, which isn't going to happen because I can't judge that objectively.
And Actually, Lou Reed isn't a melodic vocalist, as far as I know. He like talk-sings. If he can sing brilliantly, I haven't seen it, though my V.U. knowledge is limited. Honestly, have you seen his covers of "Mother" and "Jealous Guy?" Yeah, I know that's "his style," but god it is not melodic at all.
The songs I mentioned previously have derivative melodies, that was my point. I said that my song had three chords, not those songs. Pointing out your hypocrasies and saying I'm good are too completely different things. I didn't say I was good, I'm just pointing out that the grounds you criticize me on could be used to criticize several critically acclaimed artists.
The melody of your song sounds like that of The Loco-Motion. It doesn't sound like any of the other songs you mentiond. And btw, none of those Lennon songs are three chord songs. Just Like Starting Over has, I think, around 12 chords (from what I can remember).
On a final note: If there's only one thing you do, stop defending yourself by saying that Lennon, or Lou Reed, once did the same thing. They didn't do anything as bad you, my friend.
I don't need to defend myself, I've done nothing wrong. I'm saying, criticize them as harshly as you do me, since they did the same things. I can't really do much to improve my pitch and rhythm aside from formal training, which I don't want to do at this point in my life for personal reasons.
What do you want from me? To back down and submit and then you'll stop trying to shatter my spirits? It's not going to happen. I'd be lying if I said you haven't succeeded in crushing my spirits in a sense, but I'm not going to submit and conform to your viewpoint when I don't agree with your philosophy on what art is, as far as I can tell anyway from your post.
It's a simple three chord structure rock song, I believe a derivative melody is in order. Keep "Just Like Starting Over," "Come Together," "God," and "It's So Hard" in mind. Actually, Lennon was sued for one of those.
For the sake of argument, let's say you're right that Lennon has sung poorly often, and has ripped melodies. Why is that a reason to repeat his mistakes? He was melodic, and had good pitch. Copy those aspects of Lennon, if you're going to copy anything.

You know , yesterday I was thinking about that how many Andrew I know who are worthy , in Hungary too.
I found one , he is a jazz drummer.
Other Andrews were not good to me.
Few minutes ago I was in a very bad mood , then I just found you with this song - and you
saved me somehow .
It was very important for me to be saved from those feelings because usually I am well , even if I don't always feel it .
Now I needed help - thank you for your braveness . I believe you are brave and clever.

Look you still don't get it. I don't care. What I've heard from Reed has all been poor vocalism.
