Why making a problem of the name, It can't get the name Shin Shoryuken because the user has to be pure of soul which Ryu isn't .. it's called Metsu Shoryuken because in the storyline Ryu is still fighting and struggling tha Satsui na Hado (dark power) that's why his Metsu Hadouken has the same purple color like Akuma/ Gouki's fireballs.

shinshoryuken was made in sf3 or sfex2

sf4 timeline is supposed to be before sf3

so he hadnt learned the shin shoryuken yet

Actually Shin Shoryuken was what it was called in Alpha 3, he's always known the Shn Shoryuken. The fact that it did or did not show up in any game at anytime does not mean he did or did not learn it. It's simply a matter of what special moves the developers wanted to put in there or what was available.

I should also point out that Metsu is different from Shin as Metsu is more in line with his dark powers ( I think it means Murdering or Killing), just like Metsu Hadoken.

alpha 3 is non-canon though. he never knew the shinku shoryuken technically, so when he gave sagat his scar he did the metsu shoryuken, im going to guess since he does goukens (cant remember spelling) dengin,(thunder bladesurge fist) he must eventually overcome the satsui no hadou (surge of murderous intent)
