Hahaha I love it, now try the on a ZX250RR, not even close. I love the KR1 lads 2 finger (middle finger in the USA) salute to the ZX400 guy when he regains the lead. It's reminiscent of Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts battle from all those years ago. I'm still smiling. I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning.
cool footage . had a KR1s for quite a few years best fun motorbike ive owned . could fly around corners and the sound of the mighty 2-stroke engine - fastest 250cc production motorbike around
Thats Glen English riding a matchless sealey G50 the very same bike he won the World Classic Championship on, the series was only ever ran once so Glen still holds the title, Bike was built to original specs by Fred Walmsley. The bike was a missile and the rider was pretty good too, Witham took the sealey out a session later and was smiling from ear to ear when he arrived in paddock. An engineering master piece.

I was nearly in tears and biting the keyboard to this video, I've been off my baby now for about 2 years and all but forgotten what its like to ride on the very limit. This with the music brings it back hard. I used to work at Fowlers UK and yes the 6's n 1000's are lovely and undeniably awsum I am climbing the walls until my Cagiva is back together. No seat, no headlight, just an 80kg track bike, diddly 39hp StanStephens engine and the most expensive rubber this side of a Durex factory...
Great video. Listen to that old zxr 400 sing. Now, I'm no expert, but this video shows you just how much fun a zxr 400 can be. Your lines are great and you get on the power nice and early. The big bikes pull can pull a few bike lengths on the straights, but they have no chance everywhere else. Looked like fun!
chimp664, what hairpin at cadwell would that be then that you can get wrong at 135mph??? i think the nearest point on the circuit to the hairpin that you can reach that speed is about 1.3mile away!! and im sure you didnt reach 135 on a 400, def not a cbr. zxr's are way better and quicker than a cbr 400. a cbr400 will do about 125mph. kr can do well over 130mph (63hp) in race trim with tall gearing. zxr's (rmkd's) well over 140mph with about 80hp. oh., what was your best lap time??
thanks for the great vid mate. it brought back good memories of me racing my KR1S against my Brothers CBR 6. He could get away from me on the straight bits of road, but on the twisty bits i could out turn him, out brake him and out perform him...lol I own a ZX6R now but i miss the noise of a KR1S exhaust in the power band.
thanks glad you enjoyed video. Camera setup was normal camcorder mounted on tank bracket. Hopefully will be back out at Cadwell later in the year. Check out hc racetec on google for zxr ram air boxes and fairings (based in uk but posts worldwide).
Cool vid. My old m8 actually had a KR1s and his Mrs had a ZXR400. He took out the ZXR and let me on the KR1s and after warming it up (carefully!) I gunned him easily on the country roads in my area (I live 20 miles from Cadwell). KR1 had LOOOOADs more power as long as it was kept singing in the powerband. Of course my arse was in pain after 1 hr while my m8 was fresh as a daisy :)
well i have a cbr 400rr inported to new york where i live. and my brothers has a kr1s ive raced him loads off times the kr1 is quick but when it comes to top end i rape him lol
What is completely INSANE is at the end of this clip at 5:57 you can see a guy on an old 50's 60's bike run through these guys like exlax! He is knifing through them on 50 year old technology!!!!!!!!!!
Zed heads, this is just great fun to watch, music reminds me of one of the gcXG3 soundtracks, boy I dig that game, the zx is hardly ever under 9krpm those rings must be burning, I've done some track on my zixer '02 but never as busy as that, the zx must be easier to maintain than the KR, I wonder what engine breaking is like on the stroker, sure need lots of brake on the 4strokes, sold my rd many years back once rode it from Bordeaux to Birmingham and back, sure had the vibes ;) GREAT VID !!
I would have liked to have seen more of the guy at the end. I dont know if it was a ducati or what ? but he sure showed everyone how to corner. There is a lot more available from your machines but its having the confidence and skill and trust in the machine.
maybe the kr1s is not tuned very well or the zxr is very well tuned.does any one know how competitive a kr1s would bare in club level.and is it formular 400 that it would run in as i have just purchased 1 thanks for any replys

Great vid. certainly taking no prisoners. Bit heavy on the rear brake a few times which is why the camera shakes, rear wheel chatters. Little KR1-s is amazing.
I don't ride yet so forgive me if its a silly question but don't bike riders 'blip' the throttle on the downchange under braking the same way a car driver would? (heel & toe). Thanks :)
Normally yes but to be fair camera bike is not been ridden at full tilt, Jon (camera bike)has done 1m43 laps of Cadwell on the same bike when racing lapping on vid at 2m a lap!
Fair play the fella on the classic the 7r by the looks of it showed you boys the way. Went past like a knife through butter. His bike is from the 60s and has about 40 bhp.
