  • Hi Peggy, please post a pic of the nice man who gave you roses for Valentine's Day.

  • did u take acting classes?

  • @azjmiles nope, how do you like my acting? :D

  • A Chinese girl once told me I have nice handwriting. But I have awful handwriting. At the time I was too stupid to know what she was doing.

  • @BobLeKatt Do you think she was trying to pick you up? :D

  • Cutie pie :)

  • @JRCrowley coconut cream pie. :)

  • is it not easyer to just invite her out for a drink or food then you can find out if you can spend time with her before she dose your head in

  • 我很高兴把这个课找到了。 I think, I shall start with 我觉得你有内涵. The only thing left is to find a nice girl who has 气质 and speaks Chinese. :)

  • @YarrMeHeartey 找個有氣質又有內涵還要會說中文的女生 好主意!:)

  • dear piggy pls advise me how to start learning to write mandarin, i mean what is the best sequence to do it?

  • peggy ur amazing, i wish i could reach you, you r the person who makes my dreams of learing chinese come true.

  • I have a suggestion for future videos, could you please -not- write the Mandarin characters in bold? They are hard to read! Maybe just not putting them in bold or changing the font to a clearer one :P Otherwise I think your videos rock! Keep up the good work, I like to learn watching your videos :) And you do a lot of gestures but I think it helps too!

  • @maximepaquin1 you should see my recent videos. They have become much better! Let me know what you think~ :)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese I watched the latest ones and it's very easy to read :) I like your videos! I was wondering about something. I saw you speaking Taiwanese in a few videos like the one about stinky tofu... which taiwanese language is it? Min Nan? (Just out of curiosity)

  • I love it!!!

  • you are piping hot

  • This is by far the funniest video you posted XD!!! <3

  • @PetiteKennie Thanks for watching and commenting~ :)

  • WOW!! i see black culture is popular in taiwan also! the baseball cap over the due-rag

  • @soilsminor11 it wasn't me!!! XD

  • Comment removed

  • that funny "bla bla bla" you said is translated as 什么什么 right?

  • Well shit, you aren't supposed to compliment looks? I saw this girl with nice shoes, and I was like "Hey, I like your shoes," then she said thanks and walks away.

  • Peggy, you should not teach white men this lesson!

  • I notice that the Taiwanese say 我爱你 pretty quickly to each other, without it being as heavy as it is in English. Interesting.

  • Hahahaha, you are crazy... but i like it :)

  • 嘿老Peggy! 这个电影是很有用的为从女儿不能说的人,但是我不用这个东西。我开说话这样:请问,黑色还是红的?以后,你说她:我要从我朋友去,还是我问女儿喜欢什么颜色在羽绒服。

    同时,在马路,我看美女女孩的时候,我说他:对不起,我不常感它,然而为我,你很美女!

    原谅我怀的中文。谢谢!

  • Why don't you use banner ads to promote "PeggyTeachesChinese" rather than letting your competition advertise? A click on your own ad would drive traffic to your website. BTW, great lesson!

  • @daveinxian1 Thanks for the tip! Glad you like the lesson~ :)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese

Are you a YouTube partner? I would think you have enough views to be one.

  • Comment removed

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese lao shi why is it that i cant find "curses in Chinese" i saw that before but now its gone..T_T

    Your help appreciated.

  • Peggy, wǒ juéde nǐ fēicháng piàoliang! However you make a very ugly boy, ;) Thanks for the videos, they're wonderful.

  • @CalebSchultink Hahaha. But I like the boy more than the girl. :P

  • Comment removed

  • wo3 ai4 ni3 is great!

  • You have certainly put some effort into this and I like the explanations you give in the second part of this clip.

However, please allow me following comments

    a. If you have tow or a sequence of 3rd tones then all 3rd tones turn into 2nd tone and only the last remains a 3rd tone.

    e.g. 我喜欢你.

    b. You carry a Taiwanese accent, which is ok, just wanted to mention it in order to let others know what they are hearing/learning here

  • peggy i am confused about zhi2 ? it seems i thought it means something is straight? i had learned it as you qi4 zhi4, but it was from fujian person, perhaps they say it different? or most likely i just confused it and learned it wrong haha

  • @PeggyTeachesChines The cinematic quality of the first half was nice, and kinda funny. Only I think there was a little too long of a wait between phrases. Also, Peggy could you please put the pinyin in all your videos instead of just the Chinese charaters? It would make it a lot easier for who are actually trying to learn. Also, it would be very helpful if you could put the pinyin and the translation in the video description, so we could review after the video is finished.

  • lol

love and romance is everywhere the same just use respect with it and be calm ( never rush someone with anything ) :D

  • Peggy, thanks so much for the videos! there are a lot of Taiwanese and Chinese here in BORACAY Island right now. if ever you're coming here also please let me know. i enjoyed learning a few words from watching your videos! :)

  • @trondzc I have always wanted to visit Boracay!!! But it's too expensive for me.... I hope I will be able to afford the trip soon....

  • @trondzc boracay is awesome! i cant wait to go back to ph again. im hoping next summer

  • Oh "Peggy" how do I get to know you? You're fine! And I love your videos. Real cool. Keep it up.

  • I will say to her 今晚如何?<_<

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese

What's the word you've translated as "corny"? It sounds like you2tiao2, but all I can think of for that is 油条...not quite the same! Love the videos! ;-)

  • @0darroch Yes, this is it. It's a metaphor. :D

  • PeggyTeachesChinese,

Stop pretend to be a Chinese Girl when U R a SouthEast Asian! I speak English very fluently, which I can READ and WRITE! Do that make me Caucasian Race? Of course, that's NO WAY!! >=(

Racist Blacks are targeting Asian women for hate crimes in New York....

    v=HJBqOCouKkE

This is what our East Asian Women have to face in America everyday! My father is robbed at gunpoint by Black in his own store!! >=(

  • Is this for lesbians ?

  • PupuTheClown,

Yeah, those are GAY PEOPLE that are currently hiding in Taiwan, and they paid her DIRTY MONEY to humilated our East Asian People especially the MEN!! >=(

Look at their Hollywood in America! They'll never represent our East Asian Women in any POSTIVE LIGHT either beyond the ONE-DIMENSIONAL ROLE of HyperSexual Asian Women and Dragon Lady STEREOTYPES! In fact, their ROMANCE of White Men/White Women SCRIPTS are always more REALISTIC than White Men/Asian Women SCRIPTS!! >=(

  • PupuTheClown, These GAY PEOPLE just hated our East Asian People as a whole.... v=lX2imWBwnKE These GAY PEOPLE will always put up UGLY ASIANS such as William Hung to pretend that's all our East Asian Musicians can offer!! >=( Yiruma - River Flows in You.... v=rhN7SG-H-3k Ken Oak Band - Analog Girl.... v=_mBopbjQL1Y Train - Hey Soul Sister: Violin Cover (by ear).... v=GUgRTFo_gdM That's just some of our East Asian Musicians!! >=)
  • I said "zhen ben"

  • The best thing if you want to pick up asian girls is to be white... its funny but its soooooooo common.. check it out you will also agree with me..

  • peggy, keep up the good work. Being a half-chinese i really like it.

  • The examples are very practical

  • That raper is very handsome XD

  • How did you end up with an Atlanta Braves hat?

  • @mdp8989 I didn't know what that stands for. :D

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese its an American baseball team ;)

  • The male peggy is wearing my city's hat! whoo

  • haha i love the editing, amazing video!!!!!!!

  • I only had a crush on one Chinese girl and I married her so I must of done something right!!

  • hahaha what a good video, I speak Spanish and I remember saying something like a girl I liked, I was well felis

and how do I tell a girl in chines : do you wish were in love?

sorry for my English, I do not speak English so I use a computer traducctor I hope I can understand. peggy xie xie and upload more videos like talking to girls in Chinese, I like!"

  • I think with my face I could be talking about kittens and daisies and creep a girl out. Peggy, you are using the English word "content." I'm not sure in what context though you mean it. A TV show or a web page has content. A newspaper has content, but for people, it's not a word we use. What other word would make sense there?

  • @MarkAllendotnet @ricesociety

I've heard English native speakers describing a person has a good content though, that's why I thought it'd go perfectly with 'nei4han2' in Mandarin as the word means "meaning, content, connotation". When we describe a person "hen3 you3 nei4han2", it means the person is very knowledgeable, intelligent and interesting. Help me here if you guys come up with a better word to explain it in English. :)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese A very close word that might be used is "substance" - but even that would seem foreign to most native speakers. It sounds like you mean the person is simply a "good person" - but maybe some specifics: "Good intentions," "Good manner," "Good energy," "warm," "kind," "soulful," "deep." (the last two imply they are a serious thinker, nearly pensive, but in a soft way.)

  • @MarkAllendotnet That's true. Today I asked my linguistic teacher who speaks fluent Mandarin; she also referred to "someone has a lot of substance". :)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese The more I think on it, I think you mean to say they "Seem like a person of substance." But it's sort of a pedantic thing to say. ("Pedantic" is sort of an advanced word, do you know it? It means to be condescending but in a preacherly way.) Like a teacher might say to a younger student. Or your friend's mother to you.

  • So how would you politely suggest this gentlemen not were his pants so high in Mandarin? Cause I think that's his first problem :P

  • i think u go the pinyin for 女wrong... should be umlaut

  • @beingbanana Nope, I double checked. It's certainly 'nu3" :) Thank you for watching!

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese i hate to argue, but im pretty sure that it should be denoted "nv" using chinese pinyin, where the "v" represents this character ǚ. while this "u" does have falling rising tone, it also has the two dots (umlaut) above it. this signifies a more unique sound which can also found in 鱼.

    keep up the nice videos~

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese

yin pinyin its nv3 i guess maybe something gets mixed up with the Wade-giles stuff

  • 哈哈真爆笑

  • Hehe, love the video, Peggy. Your lessons are always a lot of fun :-)

  • Mmmm that is rediclous approaching. Some girl nuh only chines any girl staring over bout I like or I LOVE. Your. About destroying nuh making up. Cuz whan she her those thing she gonne star blinking. I beilive. Me am about geting lil bit swag approaching hahaaaa........

  • 哈哈哈很可愛

  • 哈哈哈 好瞎~~

  • I like it. You're funny. I especially like that you chose this topic cuz sooooooo many guys learn Chinese cuz they are motivated by a Chinese speaking girl.

Can you explain near the end the phrase, "you nei han" - you have a content? That didn't really translate well in English. is it like, you're interesting, or you're really worth something?

  • fun lesson idea. xie xie.

  • another fantastic video

  • seriously peggy, your freaking good looking, ive been watching and learning from your vids for a long time, i must say you get prettier every video, its too bad your in taiwan, or i would be all over that, in a gentlemen like fashion of course. ; )

  • 4:23 talk to the hand! hahaha

  • LOL, this is hilarious!!

its actual useful real things you should know in a language you are studying though.

  • 好無聊, LAME!!!!

  • Awesome video :)

    我的女朋友是华人。她是从印尼來的,但是不可說普通話。她可说英语,印尼语,和福建话。:)

That's a lot of work for me, I haven't actively tried writing in Chinese for a pretty long time...hope you understand me :)

    Gum sia!

  • @BuayaGuy

Better say 印泥巴 for Indonesia. The first and second 的 are wrong.

Instead 可以 I would use 会, cause it indicates she learned a language. For her native languages I would use 能.

  • @BuayaGuy @Jackpower1989 I have never heard the term "印泥巴" though. Somehow it sounds pretty inappropriate to me. We usually say "印尼人" or say someone 從印尼來的 or 來自印尼. :)

  • Hahah so hillarious lol ^0^

  • hmmm... hmmm.... hmmm... it's very cute... I think it's actually one of your best videos... BUT i think now your kinda exploiting the fact that you're very cute and probably have a lot of subscribers who are male and have a crush on you... (-:

But why is it wrong to say i like you? I am not desperate if i say to someone that i like her... cause i don't necessarily mean it in the sense that i am attracted to her. I mean hey i am true to my wife, but i can still LIKE other people, right?

  • @Supenmanu yea not really, the "like" translation is still way to strong to use, especially when first meeting. It translates into our like but its still very personal in chinese.

and "i love you"?? yea you'd never say that, most people dont even say it even if they're married! i know somecouples who wont even say "i love you" using chinese, they have to say it in english because it doesnt carry the same weight

  • @chowdaw That's right. People don't really use that phrase to each other. I always say it to my mom and she says that I am "e3xin1".

  • @Supenmanu Sure but it depends on the 'target' you are referring to when you tell your wife, doesn't it? Is it appropriate if you tell your wife that you like a particular woman?

  • I can definitely use HELP in this department.Because I'm so helplessly in love with a women from taiwan,This is the real reason that I started to study with you to learn to speak Mandarin to show her that I'm really trying to communicate to her because I don't want to be misunderstood eventhough she speaks English.I got it bad for her and she is not teaching at the same college anymore but I have a deep feeling that I will see her again.

  • @shengchenfan I am sure you will. And when you do, don't forget to express how you actually feel for her. ;) Jia you!

  • haha sry to disagree with you peggy but dont #2 actually works pretty well in taiwan!

  • @chowdaw Hahahahaha! Really!!! Did you try before?

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese haha commenting on physical features? of course! i usually get a 你的嘴巴很甜 followed by giving me their number! however, i thikn that speaks more to the type of girls i ask out hah

  • peggy should start giving up her friends when we purchase lessons! sound good, hahaha im kidding, i work for mine!

  • hahaha what a good video, I speak Spanish and I remember saying something like a girl I liked, I was well felis

and how do I tell a girl in chines : do you wish were in love?

sorry for my English, I do not speak English so I use a computer traducctor I hope I can understand. peggy xie xie and upload more videos like talking to girls in Chinese, I like!

  • Hello, miss.

  • 我喜歡你,但不是變態的法辦。 (i hope that made sense). 你要做一部視頻為女孩們,好不好?

  • oh peggy, 你太好玩儿了 :P

  • Seems that just like in the West there's a lot more "don't"s than "do"s ^^

  • how do yiu say him or her or she like you;)-nu ai ni;)?

  • @Rohan4basu Ta1 - pronoun of 'he or she'.

    He/She likes you - ta1 xi3huan1 ni3.

  • You could also be a fashion model.

  • so would asking for help with my chinese be a good ice breaker?

  • @mitchnesbitt Yep! :)

  • lol who can think of the absoloute worst most terrible line to say to a Chinese girl? I always thought this was good: "Hey girl, I know Wing Chun and I love Bruce Lee, also Chinese food is great! Wanna hang out sometime!?"

  • How do you say, "My girlfriend thinks you're hot" ?

  • @jeridl "My girlfriend thinks you're hot - wo3 nu3 peng2you3 jue2de2 ni3 hen3 la4"

    Is that for me? :P

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese Thank you for the translation. Actually she does think you're very sexy d: Love the crazy hand movements, you're scary.

  • You've completely convinced me to take Chinese now. :)

  • Looks like someone has to take care of those poor bad temperament girls since apparently no one likes them in Taiwan. Do not fear, help is on the way!

  • @theoneandonlypete I am one of them. I need help! :P

  • Lots of hand movements. Fearsome Wing Tsun skills I suppose...

  • haha good advice. I can't usually "pick up" white Caucasian girls as it stands, let alone anyone of another nationality. ;) But i'll have to keep these tips in mind if I ever meet any cute Chinese girls. Good stuff.

  • A funny video to learn chinese language, excellent:-)

Don't say asian persons have no sense of humour.

Good teaching, thank you very much.

Thank you to mark the tones^ with your hands.

  • 在太晚讚美與歐洲讚美很不一樣。我們比較直接那台灣的習慣就就是講話比較間接。對我來講要特別的去猜別人在說什麼是很有意思的一件事但我不太習慣因我這一生都住在歐洲所以比較開放的講話方式比較恰當 哈哈

    謝謝你 做這個影片!我們可以說我愛你但是是用法文說: Je t'aime" ^_^

Anyway, I saw it as holiday flirts, I would never ever make such a girl my longterm girlfriend. I actually like girls, that are really hard to conquer.
