@everyoneSalegend i think I heard Maynard say once in an interview that he wants to leave them open to interpretation. I personally think he wants to keep it subjective because that's how life is, but that last bit's just my opinion.

Cold, it's like this...Tom introduced his friend from Chicago (Adam) to Maynard. If that's not "playing a big part in the beginnings of Tool", then I don't know what is. I don't know of anyone that has said he played a major role in their inital success. However, the fact that RATM allowed TOOL to open for them as they were starting out did play a role in TOOL developing a following to begin with.

BTW, lets not forget Tom Morello who was a big part in the begginings of Tool and Mars Volta (At the drive in). That guy contributed a lot.

Please explain how Tom Morello played a big part in the beginnings of The Mars Volta, or even Tool? Just because RATM and Tool worked together and Adam Jones and Morello were friends does not mean the he played a major role in Tool's initial success.
