I was looking forward to hearing this play when the movie ended and the ending credits rolled, then damn CMT went straight to their new episodes teasers and muted the audio from the movie. That is the tackiest thing to do and I hate when that happens, it slaps the movie across the face.

@Huxleayable It's not that i don't like CGI, its just that i don't think the gremlins would look as natural as they did as puppets. CGI is here to stay for sure, but the gremlins have a distinctive look that i don't think can be replicated with CGI that well.

In the question if this is a horror movie or a comedy, I'd say I agree that it's both, but at the same time it also feels like a social commentary. The Gremlins seem to represent the worse of all of us. The need to have pleasure at the expense of other people, even going so far as killing to get what we want. It's a very well made film and probably one of the best American monster movies of the 80's.

As a person who wants to go into the film business someday and as a big fan of horror movies Gremlins serves as a huge inspiration. Usually I find the black and white classics to be more eerie and mysterious with the fear of the unseen style or the atmospheric sets, but the 70's-80's were without a doubt the most impressive when it came to effects and making their monsters seem REAL. Best age for family films too. They knew how to entertain all ages. Most of today's movies aren't half as fun.
