Thought I would never find this song again. I remember hearing this years ago on a friend of mine's cassette of the album. Of course I didn't remember the name of song. I been a fan of CT since Heaven or Las Vegas. One of the most beautiful sounding bands of all time. Also this is Prince's favorite CT song.

I feel this album directly influenced MBV's "Loveless" album. That record certainly has its own merits, but it doesn't come close to the brilliance and euphoria of Blue Bell Knoll. This song exemplifies everything I love about the Cocteau Twins.

the thing i really appreciate about liz is that she's not really white-bread at all, she doesn't sound like a girl group singer in her phrasing, she has a very soulful delivery... i'm a major R&B fan and she fits in with that in my mind somehow..

It is very hard to find the right words to describe how amazing and unique this band is. I am a big fan of CT for 20+ years. I felt priviliged being from Venezuela that they fell in my hands. Many of their songs are especial to me. This one in particular has to me the BEST voice/guitar combination EVER right from 2:25 to 2:40 Those 15 seconds, preluded by the majestic/superb guitar from 2:03, are just pure Gold. First song I ever heard by Cocteau Twins was "Carolyn's Fingers." Heard it on the radio, wrote down the name of the band ("Cockatoo Twins"), bought the CD a few weeks later during a trip home from college. Listened to it on my dad's awesome sound system and my jaw hit the floor. After five life-changing tracks, I figured it couldn't get any better -- then "Cico Buff" came on, followed by "Suckling the Mender," and I just about lost my mind. This band is nothing less than a gift from God.

I saw this video on Channel 4's 'Wired' in 1988 and a twenty-year love affair began. Mark Cooper, in his review that year of Blue Bell Knoll for Q Magazine summed it up best: This warm bath of a record is a sensual invitation to wallow in an opiate haze of drifting melody, echoed voices and a slowed, almost processional, beat...
