This is a great sounding 12 string. Have you played the EG523SC-12? It sounds great also but its a Jumbo body style. I was leaning towards the Jumbo but now I'm not so sure. The Jumbo is a little cheaper in price. Does yours fret easily? Is the string action low? If U get a chance try it with a Jangle Box....it'll blow you away.
A few questions, How long does it take to re-string that? looks like loads of fun lol. And how are this in Open G? ( For song reference listen to Wild Horses by The Rolling stones). Thanks!
@KJEboys- I've actually never tried it. The sound will definitely be different as acoustic strings are usually Bronze or Phosphor Bronze wound. Steel Strings will not sound near as rich as the bronze strings. Steel strings are made to magnetically react with pickups, while bronze wound strings will work with the acoustic and bring out the natural sound of the guitar. But ultimately its just an opinion thing i suppose! it won't hurt to try!
@maurabazzarelli-i honestly do not know haha. i would check but i'm on a month long tour right now. i'm sure it says on musiciansfriend. I'm sorry i can't help you out with this information!
@CrimeTaK: Yeah man! the action is great! it took a basic truss rod adjustment at first but everything is built very nice and it is not hard to get your desired action with it. I don't have another video right now, but I want to get a video up of the guitar plugged in as well, so when i have time i'll do that.
Thanks so much brutha! This guitar brand new on musiciansfriend is runnin' $1,249, but I've seen it on ebay from 600-800 bucks on occasion. it's definitely worth the investment!
yeah i really lucked out finding a lefty... this will be the first time i actually played a 12 string. ive played them upside down but thats no fun... now all i gotta do is wait the "seems like forever" shipping period...
Oh, that is just 2 black pegs on the B strings. I left my case open for like a week and lost 2 of the pegs, and the black ones were the only ones I had haha. Nothing fancy about it, just a lack of music supply resources at the time!
You seem like such a good kid. Ill bet your parents are proud of you. I am 40 and have been playing a Taylor for 2 years now. I have a 19 month old boy and he loves to sit with me while I play. Hope he grows up to play as well as you do. Thank you.
Thank you! that means a lot! I wish you the best in raising your son, and hopefully guitar and music will be something you can share all of your lives. Appreciate the compliment!
Yep, the intro rhythm bit is most definitely a 12-string. And it is hard to hear and I can't exactly tell but i think it might continue on through the song too. But the intro is for sure man.
Well it doesn't have a built in tuner, but it holds tune extremely well, so i just use a Boss TU-2, tune it up, and its good for a set. It is an amazing guitar for live performances. I would highly recommend if its the sound you are looking for.
Man that sound is just beautiful! I gotta get my one of those, how much was it?
I loved every single song you played too! Stairway and Wish you were here is awesome! Ive had so much trouble playing the intro to wanted dead or alive, I can never get it to sound right.I have a requestm,Id love to see you play Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones!
Thanks! I picked it up for cheap from a friend. Musiciansfriend sells them for like 1050, but i've seen them on eBay for 800. definitely the best 12 string i've ever played. and yea dude, once i get my new cam, i'll take a look at it. Still can't match your Van Halen covers dude haha.
Yea, the tone on it is totally sick. it sounds amazing as a six string too. i alternate every once in awhile between playing all twelve and then just as a six string. i actually only payed 650 for it cuz i picked it up from a friend. Brand new they are about 1050, but i've seen them on ebay for around 850, so you can pick up a really good deal for how nice these guitars are.
definately a bar chord, because with the extra strings, its kinda painful on like the lines on ur knuckles. its pretty uncomfortable when u start out, you have to find the spot where it doesn't hurt to bar and get some muscle memory for that position. sometimes open chords feel better on a 12 string cuz there isn't so much tension on that one spot on your finger tip.
you are correct on that haha. i've never used a slide on a 12-string so i'm not sure how the tonal quality would be with the slide on the barre chord, but yes, it would make it more comfortable
hey its tyler, just wanna say playing pep band was awesome having you back again same with adam haha, anyway you sound great i think its a great idea that you are going to stay in music, i hope you have amazing luck with your life man and i hope to hear from you again soon
Haha, well changing the strings isn't horrible...getting them in tune is once you do get them stringed. In my opinion it is well worth it, but it takes a while to develop an ear for tuning this guitar. It takes some extra careful listening. But I guess I can say i'd rather change strings on my strat lol. so yea, its not too fun i guess.
Fantastic demo of this fantastic guitar. I really considering this 12-string for my next guitar. The way you play it almost me makes me certain that it's gonna be that one! Thanks! :-)
Thank you! you definately will not be disappointed with this guitar. it sounds very nice plugged in too. you can hear it (with only six strings) on my myspace account for the song 'forgive and forget'. good luck with your purchase if you do decide to get it!
of course. i am just waiting for a battery pack to come in cuz i got this guitar from a friend, and it didn't have one. once i get the battery pack, i'll get a video up. thanks for the compliment.
Love this guitar! Can you make a video where you show it and demonstrate its functions? Maybe the preamp, and where where to put the plug. I'm planning to buy this. Cool playing :)
