Seriously - in my opinion - this has got to be one of the worst anime adaptations I've ever seen, thanks to Gainax producing it. The original manga actually has a storyline, has ran for 27 volumes, and is a tad less crazy. This anime just decided to not follow it at all!

I bet the Gainax company were just trying to find something to use as a parody-each-episode crack-fest, read the first couple chapters of Rikdo Koshi's "Excel Saga", and decided, 'Hey, let's make a show with these characters! It can be filled with parodies, referances, dirty humor, etc.!' In truth, I feel bad for the fanbase that are more familiar with the anime than the manga, which seems to have a smaller fanbase. :(
