I live in wichita, KS and the first (and most recent..) time i got pulled over i almost started balling!! he pulled me over for nine over and said "i dont like giving tickets to nice young ladies but this is my job and i wanna make sure your being safe" -_0 wtf
Then go to Wichita! Its the best city in Kansas. If you have such a problem then dont come back because I enjoy it here. I know our speeding laws are tough but thats ok. And Kansans are friendly so thats what he was talking to you. Also he want a hick. Most people in Kansas arent hicks.

Ummm....I'm from Kansas City, MO...I think it is important to distinguish the vast difference between KCK and KCMO. Most people in the US don't realize that "Kansas City" as it's known nationally in KCMO (the MUCH better CITY). It sucks that you had a bad time in Kansas, my friends and I have made the trip to Denver a number of times, and it is really crappy. Just please don't judge Kansas City based on your experiences in the state of Kansas.

Cops in Kansas are like that! I had a friend who got pulled over, then they searched his car, and searched his cell phone! And grilled him for about 45 minutes. All of it in which I told him that they shouldn't have done that. But yeah, that's Kansas Cops for you.
But as for everything else, Kansas isn't that bad. The weather is nice, the people are mostly nice, and you're never too far from much, unless you live in the boondocks... But I'm a city girl.

lol, I'm from kansas. I know that most of it sucks, but it's like anywhere you go. It's all about what you make of it. Cops do suck, because of the "low" crime rates they're bored. Kansas city isn't too bad. I'm living in Everett, WA for now(near Seattle) the landscape is more interesting here, but It's not that much different than Wichita, or Kansas City. Ok, maybe that's a lie, but they're not THAT bad.
In Canada, they have cameras that send you a ticket for going 5 miles over. (10 km/hr) They just want your money. Don't bother apologizing. Never been to Kansas, but it sounds like Saskatchewan. Boring as hell.

I think it was probeably just a culture shock to you. the first time I was in a little hick town I kinda had that same reaction. And normally in little towns and stuff the cops are like that because its everybody knows everybody type thing.

Um, you do realize most of Kansas City is in Missouri, not Kansas, eh? (Granted, both are oppressively boring, and your eastbound approach, presumably all on I-70, hardly merits interest. If you'd gotten away from there (like the southern route, Garden City-Dodge City-Great Bend-McPherson-Abilene-etc) I guarantee it would've been way less miserable.
Basically, with out-of-state plates on a main cross-country route, you're just target practice for the hicks that give rural America a bad name.

My coworker and I were just south of KC, in Overland Park. He brought his DC/MD driving...Im surprised he didn't get pulled over. We were there for a week and he did make it into KC with no problems. I only saw a cop once the entire time. Jose Peppers and Jacks Stacks rocks!!!

Cops in Kansas are like that! I had a friend who got pulled over, then they searched his car, and searched his cell phone! And grilled him for about 45 minutes. All of it in which I told him that they shouldn't have done that. But yeah, that's Kansas Cops for you.
But as for everything else, Kansas isn't that bad. The weather is nice, the people are mostly nice, and you're never too far from much, unless you live in the boondocks... But I'm a city girl.

Okay so, I'm from Kansas and it's pretty nice here. A nice climate, pretty nice people, it's just kind of nice, but the cops are assholes. Especially where I live which is between Chanute and Humbolt And starts with an I. If you don't know get a map. But Kansas really isn't as bad as he makes it out to be. The video was good for a laugh anyway :D.

i'm from kansas, i know, it can suck. but it's not THAT bad, c'mon! kansas city actually *is* a city with huge drug problems so that doesn't surprise me. cop sees out of town plates and they usually get more suspicious than they normally would. and about the cop flashing his lights and speeding off, that was probably him just being cocky and giving you an "i'm watching you." there are asshole cops here just like everywhere else. sorry for your bad kansas experience, but dont hate us, come back!

lol, I'm from kansas. I know that most of it sucks, but it's like anywhere you go. It's all about what you make of it. Cops do suck, because of the "low" crime rates they're bored. Kansas city isn't too bad. I'm living in Everett, WA for now(near Seattle) the landscape is more interesting here, but It's not that much different than Wichita, or Kansas City. Ok, maybe that's a lie, but they're not THAT bad.

In Canada, they have cameras that send you a ticket for going 5 miles over. (10 km/hr) They just want your money. Don't bother apologizing. Never been to Kansas, but it sounds like Saskatchewan. Boring as hell.

I think a lot of it is culture shock. I moved from California to Oklahoma and it seemed like such a redneck place full of churches on every corner. Then you get to know the people and realize they are not All crazy hicks. It's just the few that are that color what you see... Sucks about the crazy cops hope you have a better time on your trip :)

Um, you do realize most of Kansas City is in Missouri, not Kansas, eh? (Granted, both are oppressively boring, and your eastbound approach, presumably all on I-70, hardly merits interest. If you'd gotten away from there (like the southern route, Garden City-Dodge City-Great Bend-McPherson-Abilene-etc) I guarantee it would've been way less miserable.
Basically, with out-of-state plates on a main cross-country route, you're just target practice for the hicks that give rural America a bad name.

I just hope you don't go near the OH, KY, WV tri-state area. There are many hicks around here. I may be from around here, but everyday, there's always that one person who stands out... my sister and I are like "what? I can't believe that we sound like that!" It's terrible. Cops here aren't too great either. My small town spends more money on police cars than education... NO LIE. If education was important the newer schools would be big enough for the crazy amount of kids coming in.
