@levedia why would he loose with a spinning back kick? when the timing is right is it is an effective technique. to just throw it randomly would be suicide in any fight. when the opeing is created either by the attacker throwing a technique (front kick turning kick etc.) or by forcing the opening with a combination. its all about knowing when to throw it. that was always chucks edge, there were faster and stronger fighters but he was a smarter fighter. he found your weekness.

Chuck's training in hapkido gives him enough familiarity with Steven's fancy little joint locks and momentum redirection. His extensive training in ju-jitsu would reverse Steven's attempted throws. All that training vs Steven's lone aikido?
@tj526 I've done Aikido for four years and I can tell you that Seagal's fighting is not just Aikido as you claim. When he gets the opportunity, he uses Aikido, but when he's really fighting it's something different. Also remember, killing white trash like Norris is Seagal's specialty ;)

Seagal would probably win, actually. The reason why is what it is a defensive martial art, hence cryptonite for any other art. it would be tight, for sure, but everything Karate has to give, Aikido has a defense against it. Chuck Norris is good for sure, but Seagal is a grand master, totally in his own league.
Chuck Norris is a Machado BJJ black belt. That right there leaves Seagal zero possibility of success with his fake grappling system which has proven to only make people worse at fighting by training in it. However, Chuck was also a full-contact, bare-knuckle (albeit point sparring) Karate champion for several years.

No. I've been training for 4 years (blue belt). I have a very small amount of Boxing/Muay thai experience at an MMA gym and before that I have a long history of doing crappy TMAs. If you really are a boxer and a practitioner of other realistic arts, you would know EXACTLY what I'm talking about by simply looking at a video of Aikido guys trying to spar.

Steven Seagal has the 8'th dan in Aikido. When using his skills he's practically untouchable. Try kick him or punch him, he'll grab your attack, toss you around like a ragdoll, while only using 1/10 of his own strength evt break what limp he has grapped onto. That's what Aikido is about, to use your opponents power against him while being fliud/ relaxed yourself. Chucks roundhouse kicks would be a childs game for Seagal to stop.

@tj526 I've done Aikido for four years and I can tell you that Seagal's fighting is not just Aikido as you claim. When he gets the opportunity, he uses Aikido, but when he's really fighting it's something different. Also remember, killing white trash like Norris is Seagal's specialty ;)

@tj526 not just the fact he trained in these arts but also who he trained with. judo gene labelle, bruce lee, joe lewis, superfoot wallace. his origanal art was tang soo do by the way. he trained in korea when he was in the military police. hapkido is closer to jujitsu than akido. akido uses large motion where jujitsu uses small circles, in general.

Seagal would probably win, actually. The reason why is what it is a defensive martial art, hence cryptonite for any other art. it would be tight, for sure, but everything Karate has to give, Aikido has a defense against it. Chuck Norris is good for sure, but Seagal is a grand master, totally in his own league.

Chuck Norris is a Machado BJJ black belt. That right there leaves Seagal zero possibility of success with his fake grappling system which has proven to only make people worse at fighting by training in it. However, Chuck was also a full-contact, bare-knuckle (albeit point sparring) Karate champion for several years.
So yeah, Seagal would probably end up shitting his pants again.

No. I've been training for 4 years (blue belt). I have a very small amount of Boxing/Muay thai experience at an MMA gym and before that I have a long history of doing crappy TMAs. If you really are a boxer and a practitioner of other realistic arts, you would know EXACTLY what I'm talking about by simply looking at a video of Aikido guys trying to spar.
I mean, if your training was shadowboxing only and you never, ever sparred, how good would you be?

Steven Seagal has the 8'th dan in Aikido. When using his skills he's practically untouchable. Try kick him or punch him, he'll grab your attack, toss you around like a ragdoll, while only using 1/10 of his own strength evt break what limp he has grapped onto. That's what Aikido is about, to use your opponents power against him while being fliud/ relaxed yourself. Chucks roundhouse kicks would be a childs game for Seagal to stop.
