  • I hear that they were pulled off the air. Did they come back?

  • @obg7320 It's because there was a fire and it damaged they're regular news room.

they tell you more about it in the video 11PM after the fire.

  • For being in the number one news market in the country, WABC's graphics sure are cheap and small market-like.

  • when was this?

  • I got dizzy watching the ticker at the bottom...

  • 2:02

  • In the begininng, you could see a breif catch of the Passport IPG, was this Comcast, Cablevision, or Time Warner?

  • It looks to me like Cox Cable.

  • @tmisch64 Cablrevision, Comcast has the custom color bar.

  • Lucky they are still alive

  • Interesting to note that the power was still on to the burnt studio-ceiling lights were still lit!surely all power needs to be removed due to water, fire damage etc...??

  • When ABC7 was off the air, did they broadcast a test pattern, black screen, or technical difficulties slide?

  • From wikipedia:

Due to the fire, Channel 7 broadcast Eyewitness News from the newsroom's update desk, while Live with Regis and Kelly, whose set was also affected, shared a studio with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Starting with the 5:00 p.m. newscast on June 20, 2007, the station resumed Eyewitness News and Live... broadcasts from their main studios.

  • By 1am that morning, Channel 7 began to show the 10pm(pt) West Coast "feed" of "BROTHERS AND SISTERS", followed by a complete "WORLD NEWS NOW" broadcast {with a first hour repeat from 3:30-4:30am}, then the regularly scheduled "AMERICA THIS MORNING" until 5am.....

  • Thats right.

  • Lucky no body got hurt in the fire, good job

by the fire dept. put the fire out.

  • wow, October 27th, my father's birthday

  • This was terrible! On October 27th, there will be a 6 month anniversary of the fire.

  • I can never get enough of WABC's intro

  • They are doing some upgrades to their existing set. There are also talks of them building a new set, but it is unconfirmed at this point.

  • Ahh, you have Crapplevision!

  • Wait once WABC goes HD it goes on fire how come KABC and KGO go on fire once it goes HD

  • "We are experiencing technical difficulties. PLEASE STAND BY."

  • it's sarcasm dude.

  • This is how WABC did the news the night of the August 2003 blackout. They got alot of info on whats being done to the rebuilding of the studio. 7online is keeping us informed on the rebuilding of the studio.

  • this rivals the drama of 9/11

  • haha!

  • A true national tragedy! (LOL!) My deepest condolences to ABC7 on the loss of their HighDef News Set!

  • Like they say, where there's smoke, there's fire and Sandra Bookman is so smoking hot, couldn't we have seen this coming??? :P

  • "this rivals the drama of 9/11" --- No it doesn't. Not even close.

  • Oh come on, take a joke. They're just overhyping the fact their set got destroyed and acting like's the worse thing to happen in NY since 9/11.

    "OH NO... OUR NEWS SET!"
