The drums definitely sound a lot different, the snare is a lot brighter, it’s kind of annoying. I guess if you listen to something for 20 years and it changes it messes with you’re head. The re-mastered Led Zeppelin’s SRTS live album is a great example of a re-master that works. In the R-M you can literally hear things that you couldn’t hear in the original record. That was worth re-doing.
Perhaps you’re right this is a dull re-mix, and uncreative. However, as a producer considers that this is the musical equivalent to re-storing the Mona-Lisa I would be nervous as hell to be “in charge” or responsible for cleaning this up or adding a new shine to it, I don’t think I would take too much creative liberty tinkering with this artwork. I understand why this re-mix sounds the way it does, let’s leave the original concept alone; I probably would have done the same just out of respect.

The drums definitely sound a lot different, the snare is a lot brighter, it’s kind of annoying. I guess if you listen to something for 20 years and it changes it messes with you’re head. The re-mastered Led Zeppelin’s SRTS live album is a great example of a re-master that works. In the R-M you can literally hear things that you couldn’t hear in the original record. That was worth re-doing.

Perhaps you’re right this is a dull re-mix, and uncreative. However, as a producer considers that this is the musical equivalent to re-storing the Mona-Lisa I would be nervous as hell to be “in charge” or responsible for cleaning this up or adding a new shine to it, I don’t think I would take too much creative liberty tinkering with this artwork. I understand why this re-mix sounds the way it does, let’s leave the original concept alone; I probably would have done the same just out of respect.
