lol Your aphonopelma seemani is pretty patient. Mine hides when it sees me attempt to throw a cricket in the cage. I don't know why though. She seems to be doing a litlle better now.
Thats a Costa Rican Zebra, right. I want one of those bad. I already have 3 tarantulas, and my big B. smithi is about to molt. She must be 15 or 16 years old, and it hasn't even been a year since her last molting. It must be the heat lamp I added. I hope she lives to 30. She is my favorite. Nice vid!
Thanks. Yeah, she did fine last time, She stayed in her burrow throughout winter, and molted in there as well. I reckon that it is alot humid in there as well. I could see it in the glass side (You can tell with one of my videos of the spider molting), but this time you can't.
My god, it runs in the water three times... then finally learn the water is a bad idea so it goes RIGHT for the predator instead. Crickets are so dumb lol
My stripekneed tarantula actually moled during the 2 months of hiding in her burrow, and has a little more coloring on it now. I guess I "fed it up" to quickly. It grew alot also! It still hasn't came out, but I can still see it on the side glass. It grew from 3.0" to about 4.0" Leg span, but I am still unsure if it is a female or not.
why?, what type of tarntula, ground dweller, old world, genrally, about month pre molt, it will grow a balt patch on theabdomen, pink about 1 month before, the spider will stop eating and drinking heavaly, abot 3 weeks pre molt, the patch goes a dark brown about 2 weeks premolt, it will begin a silk "matress", about 1-.5 weeks premolt, th patch will go jet black and molt,
1)What does your tarantula do in the winter? Mine dug a burrow and closed the entrence, and didn't come out for a month now.
2)How big is adult size for this species?
3)Is the coloration different in younger spiders? Mine seems to lack stripes. See my videos to see my stripekneed tarantula. Thanks for helping! I loved your videos!
I'm impressed that your tarantula didn't pounce on the cricket like my stripekeed always did. (I read that they are the same kind.) Anyway, I have a couple of huge questions concerning my tarantula if you have any idea the answers to them.
lol i didnt know they like water, he tried to clean himself before he got eaten and when he thought he was clean enough he ran right into the spiders mouth! LOL!
It prefered drowning to being pierced by 2 giant chelicera (fangs), being injected with vemon, being externally digested then having it innards drank out of its body! I can understand that!
But thats life for insects unfortunately!! I have had up to 30+ tarantula in my collection and I have tried to convince them on many ocasions to eat hamburgers and fries or pizza but, alas, to no avail! Maybe if they made cricket flavoured pizza that moved.........;)
it was just a hot day for the cricket and needed to cool off

I have a question. Does your Zebra tarantula goes in her burrow and close of the entrance with dirt for a while to molt, because mine does?.
IloveSPIDERZ 4 years ago
Some tarantulas do, others dont... its perfectly normal, worry not.

a male has "boxing glove like" pedipals, and a female has long skinny ones

Thanks. It is still in premolt, but judging by the size of the abdomen, it may be a female.
IloveSPIDERZ 4 years ago
no worries, oh and females do have much larger abdomens

I know, Right? The crickets I bought here at Petco are smart enough not to go within 2 inches of the spider.
