sounds awesome. 331rwhp are quite impressive; I remember the ZR-1 had a claimed 367hp when on sale here in germany, so that'll be around 10% of drivetrain loss...seems like there's a bit more at the crank than claimed by GM...
Well if you are so sick on watching Dyno videos... then why did you click on it? The only reason I have the video up is because it sound awesome when then secondaries open up... a special feature of the LT-5 engine. Or I have videos of me on the track... Pocono... not stationary there.
although stock c4's are fast enough, the looks are more of an acquired taste. It's like drinking a nasty beer 10 times until you finally get used to the taste and start to like it... reason: I used to own an '85. People used to comment on how nice it looked all the time when filling up for gas and I was just so shocked.. like WHY??!! C3's are much more sexier!!
that intake reminds me a lot of the dual runner set up on the taurus SHO... which was built by yamaha, and yamaha builds heads for toyota, and toyota is known to work with lotus.... idea sharing much?
Oh I agree... I love the sound! It's been in the shop having maintenance done... it is 21 years old now. When I bought it it had 6K in 2002. It now has 30K miles.
these cars are great i have 2 of them my stk 90 put out the exact same power figure . put headers ,port the inj housings and plenum and tune and they go to 410 rwhp. have a 92 callaway 475 super natural zr1 that made 374rwhp. love going to the strip with these cars , they blow the kids minds when they run very low 12s. ck my favs for my drag runs . you can have the new ones there is nothing like the sound of these cars @7200rpms
Yep. Sick=good. I think the LT5 is amazing at WOT. Mercury Marine/Lotus...32 valve DOHC...I still do not think the current LS9 or LS7 can do 175MPH for 24hours. This was a bullet proof design.
"Sounds Sick?" I hope that you mean that in a good way... if not you should research the LT-5 engine a bit more and understand how it was designed. The exhaust is stock and that is the secondaries opening up when the sound goes deeper. Either way... I love this ZR-1.
@88irocztpi i am sorry you are mistaken there are secondary throttle blades in the heads . there is a valet key that has to be turned on for the secondary injectors to work . they work of vac selinoids that are under the plenum
@tomhenman I realize your non-factual comment is 2 years old, but I must correct it. Lotus collaborated with GM on the design. It wasn't designed solely by Lotus. Mercury Marine built the engine.
the LT5 was a brilliant design that was known for is duribility in challenges against its european rivials. It put out an amazing amount of power with the technology that was avalible for the time, it had almost the same output as the callawy, and it didnt even have turbo's. but im sure you already knew that " lt1" ha dumass
Gotta love that sound.

The ZR-1 engine is not just a build up from a LT-1... it's was totally new design by Lotus. GM did not build this engine.

@tomhenman In fact MerCruiser at Stillwater, OK did!
