The state supreme court couldn't rule a constitutional amendment to violate the state constitution but the US Supreme Court could and would. Our state constitution is very clear on equality for all, the basis of the state supreme court ruling. The US Supreme Court would rule the same, throwing out the amendment created by Prop. 8.

It is very important that we don our American caps over every other cap that we might wear, religious or otherwise, when voting on Prop 8. Over 4 million people voted for Prop 22 in 2000. Maybe 5-10% of them were Mormons. The huge majority of people who voted for 22 and who will vote for 8 are not Mormons. You need to take up your quarrel with some other group.

This was a school sponsored field trip to a gay wedding. Just the other day in Hayward an elementary school had "Gay Day" without any advance notice to parents.
Spare me the comments about opt-out laws. The Hayward kindergartners were given no CHOICE.

What that school did was wrong, and they should have informed the parents so they could have opted out, and by not doing so, the people in charge should be punished. But they did this whether prop 8 passed or not, and some people are going to do this whether prop 8 passes or not. Gay and Lesbian advancement is going to happen, sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad.
Just to quickly clarify, the school did notify the parents, and only two parents ook their kids out of the field trip. I think i was a bit of an extrodinary circumstance that this even happened, but it was for a histoical event.
There is no such thing as a "right" for one man, or a group of men, that is not possessed by ALL. This means there are no special "rights" unique to women or men, blacks or white, elderly or the young.
If Marriage were a "right" then an elderly man would have the "right" to marry a young child.
Marriage is a definition. It is a word that defines a union between a man and a woman. Prop 8 reinstates the definition of Marriage.

The state supreme court couldn't rule a constitutional amendment to violate the state constitution but the US Supreme Court could and would. Our state constitution is very clear on equality for all, the basis of the state supreme court ruling. The US Supreme Court would rule the same, throwing out the amendment created by Prop. 8.

Children of same-sex couples should be able to live with dignity of having parents who have the right to marry, and their families should be treated equally. Children should also never learn that discrimination is good, and having discrimination written into the Constitution swiftly undermines this goal. Children should also learn tolerance and respect; I don't like hearing insults against gays from kids at all one bit.

Parnet can raise children as they choose. Children aren't being "indoctrinated" about same-sex marriage. In fact, Parker v. Hurley -- the Massachusetts case the Yes on 8 people try to use as a scare tactic -- explicitly held that there was no indoctrination involved. What's more, the case had nothing to do with gay marriage, it had to do with what rights a parent has under the constitution to decide what is taught in public schools. No on 8 = No on Lies. Vote No!

With all due respect, I think the most important literature that is relevant to proposition 8 is not the Bible. It is our Constitution. It is very important that we don our American caps over every other cap that we might wear, religious or otherwise, when voting on Prop 8. Over 4 million people voted for Prop 22 in 2000. Maybe 5-10% of them were Mormons. The huge majority of people who voted for 22 and who will vote for 8 are not Mormons. You need to take up your quarrel with some other group.

This was a school sponsored field trip to a gay wedding. Just the other day in Hayward an elementary school had "Gay Day" without any advance notice to parents.
Spare me the comments about opt-out laws. The Hayward kindergartners were given no CHOICE.
If you don't see that than you must be naive. There is an agenda here to indoctrinate our kids to the gay lifestyle and teach that it is completely normal and everyone should embrace it.

What that school did was wrong, and they should have informed the parents so they could have opted out, and by not doing so, the people in charge should be punished. But they did this whether prop 8 passed or not, and some people are going to do this whether prop 8 passes or not. Gay and Lesbian advancement is going to happen, sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad.

Just to quickly clarify, the school did notify the parents, and only two parents ook their kids out of the field trip. I think i was a bit of an extrodinary circumstance that this even happened, but it was for a histoical event.

Marriage is not a "right" it's a definition.
There is no such thing as a "right" for one man, or a group of men, that is not possessed by ALL. This means there are no special "rights" unique to women or men, blacks or white, elderly or the young.
If Marriage were a "right" then an elderly man would have the "right" to marry a young child.
Marriage is a definition. It is a word that defines a union between a man and a woman. Prop 8 reinstates the definition of Marriage.

No, rby--legally, marriage is a CONTRACT. But only certain people have the RIGHT to enter into that contract. Prop 8 removes that RIGHT from one specific group of citizens who presently have it.
Frankly, rby, most folks don't need that explanation. They understand full well that you absolutely DO want to revoke RIGHTS--no matter what wording you use.
Don't eliminate marriage for ANYONE.

When interracial couples were allowed to marry, the vast majority of the population did not believe they should be allowed to be married!
