  • think about it. case modding with a stanley knife, some tape and some cardboard! genious.

  • Until your cat rips it too shreds...

  • Hobo PC 2.0

  • If my computer was homeless...

  • friend will be jelly for this case

  • no one talk about boxes couse i like boxes >:O

me: kiss the box then he throw it away

  • its not a perfect idea! Cold weather and internal components heats can give drastic results..... Such cardboard box can replace keyboards and speakers...

  • i did this one last 2007 when i'm still using up a desktop as my main gear. nice idea for them to finally implement it in their upcoming products.

    more power

  • Um clever clever.

  • This is fire safe.

  • Did they see Darren form hak5 make it, and copy his idea?

Next is asus will come out with picture frame box too.

    Thank Darren

  • Guys, cardboard's flash point is 195C or 383F. That's nearly twice the temperature that water boils at. Unless you take the heatsinks off your everything, and kick voltage up to silly unsustainable levels it's not going to catch fire.

  • Hak5darren did that ages ago.

  • @iamnottomgreen daren is awesome!!

  • I guess it's good if you want to just test the components quickly... I would never ever use this case for day-to-day use. Cardboard, burning heat and potential sparks don't mix well.

  • @Toedoog you think that engineers have not thought of that before? or do you think that the box could catch fire with an ASUS MOTHERBOARD would they do that? BITCH!

  • @Toedoog wait wait wait, your computer is sparking?

Might want to get a new one!

I've run a shit ton of rigs in cardboard boxes over the years just for fun, never had a problem. There is literally nothing on any component in a pc that will get hot enough to light cardboard.

Even if you ran with no heat sinks, the shut off point(temp) for pretty much all the parts is lower than the temperature required to set cardboard a light. : ]

  • this is a joke right!?

  • A cardboard box as a case? That is f***ing retarded! If a part overheats or sparks, the whole thing will go up in flames along with ur desk and carpet and house!

  • sweet put a pair of OCd 580s in there let the box catch on fire and sue asus

  • @kemoss1990 It's a Mini-ITX case meaning it's only got one expansion slot. You can put one in and I doubt it'd catch fire no matter what components you're running.

  • I can spray-paint it red, to make it go faster!

  • New LAN gaming box?

    I think so.

  • I want mine in a pizza box size.

  • Screw buying a case, this works perfect. I'm going to buy an Asus mobo just for the cardboard case!

  • I like the way he says motherboard.

  • Or, get a cardboard case that doesn't catch fire... Check out Recompute

  • That's not how you pronounce Asus. They updated the official pronunciation long ago.

  • "While they search for the perfect case" I'm sorry, but I think I just found mine...

  • No shielding, and makes good kindling.

  • yes.... because people always forget to order a case when they buy a new motherboard :/

  • @burnzy3210 You missed the point completely, my friend.

"In the quest to cut down on shipping waste Taiwan's Asus has a novel idea: what if the shipping container became the PC case."

  • @ng76py 0:26 "allowing PC hobbyists to immediately get their computer up and running while they search for the perfect case" i did not miss the point, nobody is going use this for anything other than for sheer irony

  • @burnzy3210 uh.... there are times that you may want to wait for cases... like front panel USB3.0 cases that I'm waiting for..

  • enjoy your housefire

  • That wouldn't cut down on waste though..... it would simply postpone it (since the box is only good for 1 yr.).

  • They stole the idea from Darren from Hak5 :D

  • @armagedo0 The first thing I thought of when I saw this case was "I can be Ed from Cowboy Bebop".

  • @Kokosaur Wha? It must be a sad day when I can't relate to my Cowboy Bebop brethren. Ed had a cardboard pc?
