I remember it so well. I was so thrilled for her, even though I'm not Romanian, and was rooting for the Americans. It dfidn't seem to matter where you were from at that moment in time. Her performance and the resulting perfect score transcended all political, geographic, economic, racial and patriotic boundries/barriers! To not be thrilled for that tiny cherub at what would quite obviously be the high point of her life, was all but impossible. If you weren't happy for her, you had no pulse.

In case you didn't notice the judge's score... Nadia was given a score of 1. 0 (one point zero) because the scoring equipment used by the judges was unable to display

a score greater then 9.9 on the theory that no one could possibly get a perfect score.

Ha-ha-ha.. they learned their lesson that day.. NADIA WAS INDEED..."PERFECT".

I've been a gymnastics coach for a long time...and have seen 1000's of routines.

Nadia has one of the best....even by todays standards...routines on BB I've ever seen.

I'm not a "nadia" person myself...but her routine on BB is impecable.

She's fluid, form is perfect and difficulty is just about the same as what "they're" doing today.

@LuvLilKitty I totally agree, she is so fluent in her movements and everything is done so elegantly and perfect. I'm not saying that I was as perfect as she was, but I was doing the same, and more difficult tricks 30 years ago, back in 1981 when I was 15. More difficult tricks make it harder to be as perfect. I was a bar worker, was my favorite and best event. Unfortunately, these days, they don't give out perfect scores anymore, because of all the difficulty in today's routines.

Actually they (her routines) wern't "simple" at all!! they just looked that way because she made them appear simple.

I'm not exactly a "Nadia" fan....but I've yet to see a gymnast makke a beam routine look that well done.....regardless how simple.

Incredible. At 14, she was ahead of the rest. Any olympic champion that has made history by winning olympic gold after Montreal 76 will allways be compared to Nadia. Olga Korbut was making history of her own but Nadia was the one who raised the bar to a whole new level. Grace, technique and again, for a 14 year old that thin, she showed super thick skin. Nadia, allways Nadia.
