  • I was at Dodge when Taha recited this amazing poem. I still feel the chills of that reading. Am so sad he is now gone.

  • Of all the introductions of all the poets in all the world, NO ONE gives introductions that are anywhere near the intelligent, thoughtful introductions given by Jim Haba. His introductions are not something to sit through, they are enriching. The Dodge Festival misses him.

  • taha muhammad ali died today in the city of nazareth 2/10/2011,rip...

  • Lovely poem. :)

  • Wonderfull poem, greatly felt reading by Taha Muhammed Ali, but Peter Cole makes it into a terrible, smooth artistic act.

  • The POETS bring the Peace. The ecumencism that the rest of the world seems incapable of.Bless this Poet, the LIVING TREASURE OF HUMANITY whose voice, whose love, whose Life is such a Gift.Namaste.I have no Arabic words that come automatically. Yet with the Poet, this Honored Man,I expect, one day to be able to say I pray & Honor YOU,in the language in which he Speaks.Bless the festival that brings us ALL together in literary Peace. He was/is/remains Beautiful to Me. Through all Eternity.

  • Powerful stuff...even MORE compelling to see this reading live ...also was there for this reading!

  • I was very excited to find this video . . .

I met Taha Muhammad Ali at the 2002 Dodge Poetry Festival.

After we spoke of the importance of words, meaning and understanding, he signed for me, "with love," his little tome of poems, 'Never Mind,' which I had brought with me.

  • I was just there today! he didn't come because he was told by his doctor it wasn't healthy, but Phil Cole read his stuff and I absolutely loved it.

  • I am glad you were able to hear Taha's brilliant translator, fellow poet and friend (Peter Cole) read Taha's and his own poetry at the 2008 Festival.

  • I was there. Loved the reading. Love the poem. I share it on my blog (Luminous Realities) & facebook. This is a poet & a poem with wisdom and heart.

  • When i found out about arab poetry,it was like finding a treasure chest, out in the open.I'm like i have found a wonderful thing ,but no one around me cares. They just see trouble and oil, when they think of arabs.
