No need to use paper tape. As I explained in all the videos, I "BACKBLOCK" all around to joints. This method strengthens the joint eliminating taping so I get a flush finish. When sanded & painted correctly you won't notice the repair. Please check out the web site and look at all the videos. You'll get the idea and tips on various plaster repairs. Use it as a plaster repair tip course.
I just discovered water marks on my ceiling on my home after being out of it for over a month. My concern is actually mold developing on the wood itself. I noticed you didn't really check for that in your videos. Is the wood usually mold-resistant?
Hi, thanks for your question. At times it's normal to see some mould around damp areas without ventilation over long periods. All of the repairs I carried out for sagging or water damaged ceilings with mould on the timber I simply scrub off the mould. I then use a screwdriver or similar tool and prod around the timber to see if any rot has set in. If timber can be picked out easily, rot has set in which could need replacing. Hope I've helped
The plaster I use is CORNICE CEMENT. Great to glue BACKBLOCKS and good for stopping joints then a tight topping coat, when dry, sand and you're ready to paint! Please view all the other free plaster repair free videos to gain more info where I cover many basics and thus helping people like yourself to gain the confidence to repair plasterboard/drywall like a pro!
Hi, I saw your part 1 & 2 demos. They were great, really easy to understand. Can't get my husband to repair things so I thought I would try and learn to do it myself. It looks so easy.
Nice work good interesting to see, thanks
