As a teenage, Asian girl who has played Dag Hammarskjold, an older, white gentleman who has completely different views from myself I totally understand how it's more fun to play a different kind of character. :D
Coming from someone w/Starbuck's tattoo (perseverance reminder), I have to say that I actually disagree with you both on the issue of role models. Katee said not to model yourself after Starbuck. I agree but disagree. I believe you can take bits & pieces from many people (including great characters like Starbuck, a strong female character) & apply them to your life. Role models don't necessarily have to "make a difference" in the world; it's how they positively & personally impact your life.
i agree with this. you take the parts that effect you in a good way, and try to apply them to your life. Perseverance, being your own person, things like that.
