@b0bm3rley Cigarettes and Valentines was supposed to be released in 2003. The tracks were stolen and they didn't want to re-record it so they created a new album, American Idiot. They wanted to try something different after the tracks were stolen and that's why they started wearing eyeliner and all black when American Idiot went out. He said it's not that brand new because they made the song over eight years ago but it wasn't released. Why not use the internet for more information.

In the summer of 2003, the album was nearly finished when the master recordings of 20 tracks were stolen from the studio. Instead of re-recording the album, the band decided to start from scratch, leading to the creation of American Idiot. This is from Wikipedia. If you say it's false, then you're saying 39/Smooth was never an album.
