Depends entirely on the type of skating. If you're throwing down massive hammers, then yes, rock or punk can do (Refering to Ragdoll's part in Slaughterhouse), but if it's something fairly basic, techy or low key, it's always hip hop.
Is Jedi Mind Tricks really commercial hip hop? I had never heard of them before until my friend introduced me to them last year. They still haven't taken off at all here in England. Commercial Hip Hop is more like 50 Cent and The Game, etc etc.
