What's more strange is this was the first Castlevania game I ever played. The only bosses I ever had trouble with first time were Brachyura, Gravedorcus, Blackmore and Death.
So in theory, what are your fav Castlevania titles in terms of balance and difficulty?
My favorite new school (metroidvanias) CV game is Circle of the Moon. It has good difficulty that is not affected by levelling up and hero's abilities as much as in other Castlevanias.
Man you sure are confident about your own ability to defeat bosses! It seems no boss really manages to satisfy your desire for difficulty! Nevertheless, you are admirable in your confidence because you are very skilled! Good job!
Could you tell me what is your favorite boss in Castlevania? Why? Thank you!
Hm... You mean favorite boss in whole series? True Dracula from CV: Circle of the Moon. Not because of difficulty (though he can kill even an overlevelled hero quite fast), but because of the actual battle. It gives you the feeling that you actually fight the final and strongest foe. And the boss theme (Proof of Blood) adds even more to the epic feel of the battle.
There's no way to do it. You can only know which attack Dracula will use by looking at the color of his silhouette when he disappears (red - bats, blue - wolves, purple - soul steal). If you missed it - it's best to think that Dracula will release wolves next and prepare for that attack.
OoE is not as bad, no Castlevania game is really bad, but I still find it the worst, after Castlevania 64 (NOT LoD, mind you), Castlevania 2, Dracula X and, to some extent, CotM , because of the constant grindfest for items and levels.
This game kinda got old after awhile. I think Dawn of Sorrow is 10 times better than this is. And ArekTheAbsolute you're right Dracula is easy in this one.
Good job on killling Dracula! 5/5 Excuse my last comment there were alot of typos in it..That why I removed it. Btw which glyph were you using to attack Dracula?
@ArekTheAbsolute Thank you for understanding I just have a thing about typos..I don't like making mistakes when typing is all..One other question: What equipment did you have on you when you fought Drac? When I fought Dracula I had the following: Valkeryie Mail, Battle Boots, Onyx Pins, Death Ring and Emperor Ring. The Glyph Combo I had was Melio Falsis, Nitseco, and Dominus Agony. My level was 42. Anyhoo take care and I'll see you back on youtube.
Shanoa uses the Union Dominus do defeat Dracula. Union Dominus is the combination of three Glyphs that represent and contain Dracula's very power. The Order of Ecclesia was meant to use the combined power contained in these Glyphs, to turn Dracula's Power agaisn't him. During the Belmont's absence at the time of the game, it seemed like the only way to defeat him.
However, Dominus Union will claim a soul when it is activated, killing the user, unless another soul takes the user's place.
OoE is a good game im my opinion but it coulda been better I recently got the dracula X chronicles for psp after playin this and yea this one is easy compared to the rest
Well done bro, I would really love it if Konami went off of this overplayed SOTN formula and went back to the way things were. I loved the Rondo remake..lets hope they wise up.
The worst part is that OoE isn't even really based off SoTN, its a sort of bastard child between Super Castlevania 4 and Aria of Sorrow, which were both decent, if not good, games. The combo though, is...
I will answer this question (even though I know it is not the last time I am asked about it)...
One and only reason is not to leave empty places in collection of Castlevania boss fights on a certain site.
About the game. For me - OoE is a disgrace to Castlevania series (as well as Judgement). Playing it first time I couldn't help but feel that it was done in a hurry without putting any effort into it.
I also dislike that OoE is sometimes considered a hardest game in the series.
It is usually told by those who never played any other CV game (for example - Circle of the Moon from new school games and Akumajou Dracula XX from old school). OoE is nowhere as difficult as any older CV game. And bosses... I only complained about difficulty because there isn't anything else I would even try to say a word about. Such idiocy as Brachyura's and Gravedorcus' sound effects or Dracula's leg attack is very hard for me to comment.
Hmm, well, I guess you have a point with the difficulty. Although I am somewhat of a newbie to Castlevania (The first one I played was Dawn of Sorrow), I have gone back and played most of the older, platforming-based Castlevanias and they are much tougher than OoE overall.
I will say that OoE felt the hardest out of the three DS Castlevanias when I first played it, though.
@ArekTheAbsolute That's interesting. WIthout a question old school castlevania games are much harder, but I didn't think cotm was that much harder than OoE. I'm also in the middle of trying the level 1 cap challenge on hard which is interesting. I'm just wondering, do you think SotN is harder than OoE? Because I think sotn is a great but easy game, and I've tried many challenges to try to make it harder (low lvl, naked etc). For the record I love them all and your vids are great
Well, we are not talking about hard lv.1 here so I compare normal difficulties. SotN is the easiest of new school CV games (unless you try something like completing it using Red Rust only). OoE if you use something more than melee glyphs is an easy game as well (and it is not impossible to beat it with melee only and minimal levelling up). CotM is more balanced. Good armor and DSS will not always help against some foes (whose patterns are much worse than of any enemy in OoE). ->
As for hard lv.1 - it may be interesting but if I didn't like the game much on first playthrough I will not consider playing it again on other difficulty. Never played OoE too much on hard. But from what I experienced, I'd say that PoR's hard modes are much more difficult and interesting (recently completed hard lv.1 in Old Axe Armor mode).
@ArekTheAbsolute I love all the games, except I never quite got into PoR or Rondo as much, but I appreciate them. I was just a little surprised that you considered OoE to be a disgrace, whereas I could see some of the bosses in SotN to be disgraceful due to some poor exploitable AI. CotM is indeed awesome though, the only oddity I find is all the useless repetitive equipment you get and how items don't heal much at all, but those are minor.
I consider OoE a disgrace not because of bosses (the game's difficulty is too overhyped though). What I hate is just an impossible amount of copied things from older games (Rondo, SotN to be exact) and I don't mention locations copied one after another like Tristis Pass and Tymeo Mountains. Even more than PoR which already had too much. Also OoE didn't bring anything original to series. The glyphs are more like soul system from AoS and DoS with minor adjustments.
And with all this, OoE often is called the best in the series. What the..? Even the music here is a huge downstep if compared to any of the other CV games. I would consider OoE a somewhat decent game if it hadn't "Castlevania" in a title. But it has. So I expect more than this game can offer.
@ArekTheAbsolute what else can you expect from konami, but the reused sprites and characters are less that those in PoR, at least the bosses are quite unique and not sprites from RoB, also the sub-mode albus is quite neat (when playing on DS)
imo this is my 2nd favorite metroidvania (being DoS the best), i am one of the few who play SotN AFTER the DS games and even though is cool, it get old and boring really quickly compared to those in the DS

well, now Glass Joe in Punch Out for Wii he fights with a head gear and King Hippo with a manhole to cover their weak spot, so the idea isn´t ridiculous, they learned from their previous fights.

If this form was in Castlevania Harmony of Despair Hell fire would be so much easier to gain as Charlotte and a harder First Form.

I used Melio Hasta glyph against Dracula. It did the most damage to him and is easy to use (unlike hammer glyphs).

devinglenj 2 years ago
Yeah, I recorded it using NO$GBA. After few unsuccesful tries to nullify these slowdowns I decided to record the video with them.
Yet this caused battle to be a little more difficult (in this case - dodging while the game is slowly recovering to full speed)
