  • thanks but everytime i try to do this i step to the defenders foot and that interrupts the whole motion. what am i doing wrong? sorry for bad english, i'm from germany.

  • @pinkbrot3 Step between his legs. It is all about 'PRACTICE." Continue to work on it and you will work it out. Your English is fine.

  • @ShotScience ok. hopefully it works in todays game!

  • @pinkbrot3 This, like all of the other moves is not something that you can do a few times and then "have it!" It takes time to create the ability to get it done. PRACTICE IT A TON!!!!

  • @darkhouund20 It will help you get them off your body so you can go to work!

  • This looks like it will be very helpful; good video

  • This looks like it will be very helpful; good video

  • Carmelo Anthony does the diamond move a lot on post up to create shots from his jumpshot and Dirk too

  • @SilentbutCool19 Absolutely true! This must be a killer move if those guys have adopted it!

  • yeah..thanks so much too..

  • @ShottScience Thanks!

  • so it something like the triple threat position huh

  • @emire80 No, not at all!

  • @NotLmfao NotLmao, the answers to your questions are in our video library on our YT channel. Check out "Killer First Step" and go from there. The Attack Dribble series will certainly help as well. We have many offensive attacks that you can find. Let us know how they go for you.

  • @NotLmfao

around and I'm forced to take the shot.

  • @NotLmfao Where is your coach? He is the one to address this problem.

  • @NotLmfao Where is your coach? He is the one to address this problem.

  • I know this move is legit but this seems like a sure way to get into a fight if you play a pick up game.

  • @snaredevil Oh well!!

  • @ShotScience so are you supposed to pivot once? What if they dont back off?

  • @snaredevil You can pivot several times. If they do not back off use our Axiom: "They crowd, I go." When they are crowding you they have little or no time to react to your drive. Make it aggressive and they will usually foul you as you go. They will get off you!

  • thank u so much, i used this on my brother cuz he's ALWAYS defending me like that, i FINALLY found a way to get past that, thanks again

  • @rq1997 Glad we could help out!

  • i use this literally everyday against this way to over joyous defender xD

  • @andyeminem23 SWEET!! It sure backs them off, right?

  • @ShotScience yeah it does and sometimes when i go for the driver i use THE HAMMER lol but mostly i just pull up

  • @andyeminem23 Whatever gets the job done!

  • hey chase or anybody: im going to seventh grade and trying out for the team an tips to impress my coaches?

  • @iLuVeHeNdRiX Well, coaches love players who just play their A.......s off! Do not try to do more than you are capable of and be a great team player. Support and congratulate your team mates on good plays they may make and even when they make errors. Be the first guy in every drill. Never be at the end because you feel a lack of confidence. Let us know how it goes for you.

  • if lebron was defending he would flop

  • @4up4 Maybe he would flop! Some players do, but they do not always get the call. Never the less it sure gets that guy off your body if you happen to clip him.

  • i would love to play with you guys you have such a high basketball iq great vidoes like always

  • @aflohoops Thanks so much for your very nice comment. The Curtiss boys have been involved in basketball since they were 6-7 yrs old. We would love to have some competitive teams, but no likely now.

  • i just though of something, if you have an EEEXXXXXXXXTTTRRREEEMMMLLLLYYYYY aggressive defender guarding you... you can use the diamond in a triple threat and if you have an open lane u should use the hammer and get passed him, and scince hes sooo aggressive hes prob gonna fly when you fake or foul from behind.

  • @janjua8: janjua, You are on it!!! Now you are really using your brain to figure out how to beat that defender. Go For It!!!!!

  • the new fiba rules are very strict even an intent or if even looks like you intend to elbow an opponent during a reboundor protecting the ball during a pressure d, the ref will automatically call a technical foul.. how am i suppose to use d diamond in these cases? thanx

  • @benzondmd: This may be a problem, however if they are really crowding you it may be necessary to take a foul to get them to back off. This is not an attempt to make contact with the defender so much as it is to get them to back up. Let us know how you intend to deal with the defender crowding you.

  • i like this move a lot but i have a question. When i bring the ball back, how are my legs suppose to be? Bent or stood up? Cause i always end of not feeling comfortable bringing it back to the shooting form so i go for a lay up

  • @SethShot: Seth, please check out the video and watch as Chase demonstrates the move and you will find your answer.

  • 1:37 was a cool, lay up/ dunk

  • @DildoPlanet1: Glad you liked this!

  • @DildoPlanet1 lol i like yr username

  • @mikeydeff LMAO

  • once i pivet can i start dribbling (moving) again? i dont think i can but i just want to make sure

  • @usamorales: That's correct!

  • Do you have any advice about playing a small forward instead of a powerfoward

  • @frkickflip7: Just play the game and be sure to develop your skills completely. These terms do not always mean the same thing to all coaches.

  • since the diamond is fundamentals, got anymore fundamentals?

  • @NewDevid3: Whoa, this question makes me believe that you still need to go to our channel. There are more than 50 videos there for improving your game. Check it out.

  • coach what should when i play with my friends and don't defend me because they know i suck? Like they just leave me open what should i do then?

  • @dropsblood: Work your "BUTT" off so that they have to respect you and your game. I have no other answer for you. It's all about "PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND MORE PRACTICE" to get better and gain their respect.

  • @ShotScience Okay thanks!

  • thank u :)

  • @looccii95: You are very welcome.

  • this is awesome.

  • @zippereyes: Thanks. We are pleased that we could help your game.

  • hey coach I want to be in the NBA. I'm 6ft5 15 yrs old plus i'm a power forward nd i'm very athletic... the only thing though is that i'm french nd I livenin the uk. however do have any ideas 4 me to get better?

  • @looccii95: Well if you digest all of our videos and practice them like crazy, that will be a start! You need to find an academy or team that you can play on as well. Get busy with all of this TODAY!!!!!

  • coach, what if when i use the diamond and pivot forward, the defense man doesn't back off?

  • @IfYouAreNITYouAreE1: Step hard between his legs! He will step back after the first time you make contact and if not he is close enough to attack him to the rack.

  • @ShotScience okay.. thanks coach!!

  • @IfYouAreNITYouAreE1: You are very welcome.

  • If you do, let me know please - stylin', as the kids say.

  • @JimmySlattery: Thanks, we want all of you to be "Stylin!"

  • Thanks for the reply but I'm looking for the style Chase is wearing in the pics above, not the t-shirt but the golf/polo style with the collar. In Britain they call them a Fred Perry shirt.

They aren't shown at the store

  • @JimmySlattery: Well Jimmy, these are not for sale at the moment. We may run some for those of you who like them.

  • Where/How can I get one of those polo shirts with the Shot Science atom logo?

    Thanks for the lessons -

  • @JimmySlattery: Go to our Face Book store and you can order one of those shirts. They are "pretty Awesome" aren't they? Take a picture of yourself in the shirt and send it to us no FB.

  • wat if the defender doesnt back off. cuz im a defender a very aggressive 1 and if i guy used this on me i wont back off ill put my chest on him and try to distrupt his balance. and after that his going to have 1 lane to go through cuz i took away his other side because of that pivot.

  • @mangobango2o4: Notice that after he makes the "Diamond step" there is a recovery step. How we deal with your idea is this. We teach all of our students that if you have a defender up into your body/chest you immediately attack them to the basket. One of two things happen here. You have little time to respond and will usually foul the dribbler or they go right by you to the rack because you have too little time to react to their drive. Most players do not know this. Too bad!

  • yeah ! l..l

  • Hey chase...thanks a lot for this vid man...this is exactly what i was looking for...i got absolutely shut down today during a practise game coz they put a really aggressive defender on me...we've got another one tomorrow..time to put this to work!

  • @chackojegan: One more thing to remember when having a defender press up on you! Attack him right now and get to the rack. He will almost always foul you as you go by him. When they crowd you they have very little time to react to you drive and often foul you as you go. Try it, you will like it.

  • @ShotScience : Hallelujah!! it works!!! 19 points today!!! the odd no. is coz of the free throws!! thanx man...ur a lifesaver!

  • @chackojegan: We are really pleased for you and your success. Many players allow the defender to come up and crowd you to create pressure. You have now discovered that they are easy to go by when they crowd.

  • Thanks! A simple and clear explaination of an effective space creating movement. We are going to do it at practice today!!

  • @Primojoejoe: Glad to hear that you have found this element to be useful. We hope that you and your guys are able to make The Diamond useful> Let us know how it goes.

  • Hey Chase, I needed some help on defending.

I am unsureon some of the fouls one gets in defending. I know that you are meant to palm the ball, not smack it (when there's two hands on the ball), no elbowing (obvious), I don't understand about shooting howver. Say if the oppenent happens to release the shot just before i get in contact with their hand, does that count as a foul?

  • @LFC4EVA1990: Yes, that usually is a foul. You don't mean to say "palm the ball" because that is not what you need to do. Check out "Dribbling 101.

  • If you drive to the right they get in front of you and rip it. If you go behind your back they get infront of you and rip it! If you try to crossover in front really low they rip it, nomatter how fast you do it. If you try in and out they rip it. The problem is you can't crossover a short really fast defender. Yu r crossing over in their territory. The space that yoy can't create give you no room to do a move!! Help!!

  • @TheJerkawokeez: If you are experiencing these consequences on your dribble, we can only think that you have not worked on them sufficiently to make them iron clad. These moves do work, and work really well, however, you have to spend time on them to perfect them and THEN take them to the court. You should be able to beat them no matter how tall or how short and quick they may be. REMEMBER THIS: You have to attack them aggressively first and then they are set up for the move. Let's go!

  • What do you do if the defender gives you no room to even pivot. If u pivot forward they stay strong and don't move so youl step on their foot or knee them. If you jab step in any direction they don't move. If you try to bring the ball to the other side of your body you will hit them with the ball on the stomach!! What should I do to ctreate space with a not stupid defender!!

  • @TheJerkawokeez: Well, if you have your dribble still, the answer to this question is to attack them going to the basket "Hip-to-Hip." Remember, when they crowd you and you still have the dribble, attack and they usually are so close that they will foul you as you go. Be aggressive to the basket. They will not have time to get in a good defensive position and they should bump you or you go by them! This is one of our "Basic Rules." They crowd, I go!

  • Listen chase,..I have a big problem. This diamond thing doesn't work when the defender is on you and they're a good defender! If they're smart they stay on you pushing you back with their body. They giv you no room to pivot at all by getting real close to yóur pivot foot! Thets y I need a triple threat hard defender solution!!

  • @TheJerkawokeez: See the above response to your questions.

  • the advanced warnings are hilarious i watch all these practice it a few time in my drive way and sloppily try it in a game thats how i roll.

  • @vajinater: Keep workin on it!!

  • Do you have any videos for arch, or quick release?

  • @clakkers474: If you check out our other videos you will find information to answer your qustions.

  • WOW - that move may just help me with my game when i get rushed on D... thanks!

  • @frankwallace36It should hel a lot. Something else that works well when you are being pressured by the defender, they are up and into you and you still have a dribble. Immediately go on them with a hard dribble and they will usually foul you.

  • #LOL "TAKE THAT" Great video helps a lot!

  • @12eAcTi0nZz: Glad you like it.

  • i have a question when i excute my pull up i end up short can u explain why?

  • @therealdeal3161: Well typically, this is caused by holding on to the ball too long at the top of your jump, or "being late on your release." When we tend to hang on our shot it is usually short of the target. Work on releasing the ball as you reach the top of your jump. Let us know how this works out for you.

  • I watched the shot fake video. It really helped me a lot! I could never properly sell a shot fake. Mine's nearly perfect now though. Thanks a lot! :)

  • @guiltystick: Hey Stick, we are so glad that you could take something from our videos that will help your game. Great!

  • Hey i used ur videos but i just cant make it i tryed the shooting tips and stuff but the ball just bounces off the back every time or misses i tryed so many things but i guess im an only lay up guy =(

  • @Djlisjli: Well, you may be expecting too much , too soon!!!! It takes several weeks of pretty intensive work to re-establish the muscle memory for a new stroke pattern. Give it some time and really practice using our "Form Shooting Drill" and you may be surprised. Don't give up! Learning anything new takes time.

  • LOL

this is exactly the move that i need!!!!

  • @4570494: Glad you find this to be helpful. Stay tuned for more.

  • shooting off screens and pull up jumpshot

  • @VidMaker1996: These videos are in our plans for the near future. Stay tuned and please, "Spread the Word."

  • how do i play low post defense on someone thats way heavier than me?

  • @Showtime415: We will soon have a video out on defensing the post. Stay tuned for it.

  • man i seen a few videos so far and there awsome ive seen the hammer the crossover and diamond i tryed them and they worked thanks for your help !!!! : )

  • @RRrogerscompany; Glad you like our videos. Stay tuned, we are not finished yet.

  • Can yall make a video on Mid range shooting?

  • @MrFuturePhenom: Good request. Really, the shooting form and other elements do not change. The mid-range shooting is the same as the long range with one exception. You need more leg power for the longer shots.

  • I thought raising my elbow that high or hitiing their hands is a foul?

  • @00610228: Nope, sorry there are no rules about how high the elbows can be. There are rules about how you use those elbows. There are no rules about hitting their hands with your elbows either, but you cannot use them to "bust them in the nose" either. Go back and check this video again and note that this technique allows you to create space from the defender when he is pressing up on you.

  • does the diamond help in man to man?

  • @therealdeal3161: Absolutely! That's what this is all about.

  • 1:36 nice finish

  • @RebelReal: Thanks!!

  • thx ShotScience

even though i am still a trash in Basketball

i Feel Better And atleast i can fake people during shooting

    thx Man

  • @timtim627: Stay tuned Tim for more videos. Hopefully, they can help you improve your game. Let us know how it goes.

  • can i get these videos on my ipod so i don't have to carry the laptop everywhere?

  • @hattrick116: We are in the process of making these videos available for downloading to your ipods. It has not been an easy thing to get accomplished. We are working on it.

  • Can you make a vid on making shots not minding the defender's height cause I am usually the small guy on the court and I want to play the best that I can be not minding the height. thanks It will help a lot!

  • @seanpbg: sean, we believe that the most important thing that you can do is to learn to create space for your shot. You will find several of our videos that show you how to do this. One key is the "Step Back." There are several others that will help also. Check them out and keep us posted on your progress.

  • 1:32-1:34 was funny.

  • @Leanmass916; Well, the "diamond" got the job done there,no? It is an effective move and keeps the defender off you. Once is while, you may ding them in the nose and that reminds them to give you space even if you are called for a foul. This is nice for "creating Space."

  • @ShotScience ur vids have really helped me ,thank u

  • @Miguelz82;: You are welcome. Keep working on getting better.

  • hi all these vids are really good, thanks for posting them! do you have any videos on finishing for ppl who cant really jump? *thus tends to get blked easily etc.

  • @leontanko: Hey leon, check out our video on the "Finishes at the Rim." This is the answer to you getting blocked. Keep us up to date on your development.

  • For any game-like shooting drills and drills for creating space.

  • Do you have any suggestions or what types of drills on what I should do.

  • @kaitlinnnnn56: Well kaitlin, drills for what. The sphere is really wide. Be more specific and we are sure we can help.

  • I average about 10 points a game but I want to average 20 or more any ideas on how to do that.

  • @kaitlinnnnn56: The best answer to that question is "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

  • @kaitlinnnnn56 do some..assists..rebound..why concentrate on your scoring..it's a team effort..if you have 5 assists and 10 points average..summed them up its 20 points average..

  • i have the play offs in 2 days but mt team mates never like passing me the ball i need to show them i can be as good as them what do i do

  • @XxXbigstarXx: Well, the best thing to do is to get them to trust you with the ball. This usually takes time and maybe you don't have that time before the play-offs. We recommend that you work hard on your skills for next season to prove to them that you can take care of the ball and can score. Good luck in your play-offs.

  • hey coach how do you handle a speedy player that zips pass you when he gets the ball. also ive tried cutting him off but it leads to me getting ran over.

  • this doesnt work i tried it yesterday same resault

  • @PlaidSoxs, it definitely works! We have players at all levels using it and if you watch closely, a lot of the pros even use this to create some space from the defense. Keep trying it and you'll develop some instincts on how to react to the defense.

  • @PlaidSoxs: Hey Sox: It does work, maybe you are not executing it properly! Please go back and check it out again and see if you are forgetting one or several of the important points. It should back the defender off. If they do crowd you, you might have to catch their nose with an elbow to make the point!! Get it?

  • good stuff

  • @Fabsv21: How cool is this? Thanks for your support and stay tuned for more.

  • THANKS~ Your vids help me improve so much!

  • @RobloxBlood: Glad we could help you out. Stay tuned, we have a lot more coming. Thank you for your comment.

  • love this channel my game has improved so much just working on these small things use lift forward keep it up

  • joe: How cool it is to be able to help players from all over the world. Thanks for your comment and stay tuned. Watch for our new "STREET TEAM" due out this month.

  • ShotScience do you have any videos that helps me to be a better blocker?

  • Not yet, but that one is definitely in the works! Stay tuned and Spread the Word!! Thanks!

  • just a tip: dont "Rock the Boat" on your layups

what i mean by that is dont swing your arms side-to-side to gain momentum for your finish at the hoop

  • Good call! You are correct, "Don't rock the boat." Here you can see even a College BB All-American can do things that are risky.

  • what if u fake the deffender after the diamond and go in for a lay up or pass. Or even if the deffenders still close then i think youshud fake em while hes behind you and once hes faked pull up make it or draw a foul. You shud only do this once you gottn past your deffender and the big mans waiting for you. Also you can try to get an assist that will make ure teamates go crazy if you get the assist after faking ure deffender and the big man

  • Actually, if you're already by the defender, you NEVER want to slow down with a fake to let them catch up with you. If you're by them, take the ball all the way to the hoop and take it up STRONG. If he tries to go up with you and he's behind you, chances are he's going to foul you if you take it hard. There's no reason to let them catch up with you if you've already got them beat!!!

  • OMg i liike thiss imma try it on my nest bazketball game i hope it works n i dnt get a fould cus i get lotz of fouls

  • Definitely let us know how it works for you! It's an aggressive move, so you might get a whistle on it, but the defense will be thinking about it next time. Also, after you work on this for a while, you'll figure out how to use it and avoid getting the foul called. Keep us up-to-date!

  • thanks for your help with "diamond", my coach likes when i did it often in the game and definely made 21 point.

  • say: WOW! We love to hear things like this. We really like that your coach likes this as well. It allows you to protect the ball well. Keep at it.

    Please Spread the Word.

  • Oops, I meant Diamond lol. Can you answer that question again but with the Diamond instead? lol

  • @PokeAsian11 if they don't back off of you, you must immediately drive past them. If someone is crowding you and you do the diamond without them responding, you just need to continue through and go by them.

  • Ok, thanks alot! =)

  • Poke: O.K. you got it!

  • Poke: Our pleasure to help out.

  • Hey ShotScience, I try doing the Hammer on a few people but when I do it, they don't back off. Did I do something wrong?

  • Poke: They will not back off. The idea is to "hammer" the hand check so that you can get by them. If they are players they will not back off or give up. This is merely a technique to use to get them off your body as you attack the basket. Go back over this video again and you will see what we mean.

  • Nive vid .... something new for me... i will definitely try it.

  • hiphop: Let us know how it works for you.

  • Can't wait

  • Hey ShotScience, I was wondering if u guys can make a video about driving the lane or attacking the basket. Every time I drive the lane I get intimidated by the big guys in the paint right after I get past my defender. Which results in to a blocked shot or a turnover. Any tips? Thx in advance.

  • Hataka: This video is coming. Stay tuned.
