We've similar bridges and roads in B.C. (Canada.)

My parents told me that when they immigrated to Canada and settled in Vancouver in 1960, they toured some parts of B.C. They were shocked to find that at some places, the bridges consisted of nothing more than two planks of wood!

Socialism is government control of the economy. The free market is the opposite. No nations lie at either extreme on this spectrum. All are somewhere in the middle. The US is about 30% socialistic, Europe is about 50%, and the former Soviet Union was about 80% socialistic. And the more socialistic you are, the lower the average income of the poor.
