  • Tx486 as just a boosted 386 clone ;)

  • It can be a 486 cpu with a 386SX pin lay-out.

    Cyrix used to do this with the 486DLC, wich internaly is an 486SX with a 386DX pin lay-out.

  • TI did indeed make x86 CPUs & they named them very strangely. Looks like the Tx486SLC/E-33 there, and you'd think it's a 486 going by the name but it's actually a 386 architecture CPU. Very odd, I always thought was screwed up. I remember upgrading one of these at my school once, I thought it was a 486 but nope! That would be why Jazz has trouble with it I'd assume, since it didn't play very well at all on most 386 CPUs. That one you've got there is basically a 386SX, not the faster DX.

  • @phreakindee Wow, so that would explain the 386SX BIOS chip... really that was deceiving the way Ti named the chip. Thank You very much for clearing that up for me.
