not so interesting interview questions: why did you do this tour, why are you so popular, how do you get into the mind of a composer, would you like to hear records of chopin and liszt... though of course Horowitz is an intelligent and humble person, so his answers are still enjoyable to a degree.
...little did he know...youtube happened...the hypocrisy of an artist...doesn't like to stay too much in america but will choose to be its citizen...i find this very offending being a naturalized citizen myself and grateful beyond words that i was given the opportunity to become a citizen of the greatest nation on earth.
@utubuser10 "greatest nation on earth", hm maybe it's time you take a look across the border, and see that there are other nations equally good or even better (in any kind of way; economically, culturally, mentally, etc.). I actually had to laugh when Horowitz said that, as he thought almost no-one would hear it except some dutch people. Don't take it too seriously, aren't there much more important things than chauvinism, for example: Music? ;) Greets, Titus
The interviewer was young and naive ... albeit quite enamored with horowitz.
The maestro was on the other hand remarkably patient and polite. There were some scintillating glimpses of his sense of humor and general character. Pleasant and very likeable overall.
The interviewer should not have interrupted Horowitz when he started speaking. A good interviewer must be a very good listener for the first place. This young man, however, seems to have wanted just one thing; to impress himself to the viewer or maybe even to the distinguished pianist infront of him. If he had tried to listen to Horowitz with due respect, Horowitz would have told him much more intersting, insightful or enlightening things.
Many thanks for uploading. I heard many pianists in concert: Cherkassky, Pires, Earl Wild, Emanuel Ax, Lang Lang etc. But Horowitz, he's fundamentally different, he's the essence of piano music.
