  • Pennies post-1982: 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper... LOL (where is the nickel?)

  • hmm Let's see... No Welding Goggles or Welding gloves...yikes! You're an accident in the making.

  • LOL i dont think any of those effects were even worth the video itself.

  • yeah dude, its a science lab, not exciting in the least...

  • it can be, if you know how to use it

  • We just bought a MAPP gas torch and if thats MAPP and oxygen, then MAPP itself shouldn't be that crazy... I'm guessing

  • pure MAPP is 70% better and hotter than propane. temps up to 1340 farenheight are acheivable with pure MAPP. Propane can get to 1050 at best. MAPP oxy has the potential to get up to 2950 Farenheight. If you crank it all the way up a MAPPOXY will vaporize steel with ease. You can get the nickle content of standard US pennies to explode violently in cyan flames with just a propane torch.

  • @Mattersmatter

No those temps are CELSIUS. I have melted 1/4" copper wire in a puddle with MAPP gas alone! That is 1093C or 1983 Fahrenheit. The white metal in pennies is ZINC NOT NICKEL and yes it is combustible when strongly heated.

  • or oxy mapp for that matter...

  • I've gotten a whole roll of pennies to fuse into a solid chunk of nickle, wich i then hit with the super hot mixture and ignited the whole brick. Vid of that coming soon.

  • Rock on matters matter, Oxy acetalyne fun!

  • boring video set to hard rock = instant fail

  • thanks for your support and appreciation of my video editing abilities

  • sarcasm doesnt seem to be a strong point with you either

  • any metal or transition metal will burn in an abundance of oxygen and a high enough temperature, especially in powder form. Titanium burns, molybdenum burns, even indium burns. I would love to have a chunk of indium to burn WOW!...expensive

  • *goes to get periodic table*

But what about gold & platinum?

...The alkali metals will always be my favourite.

  • wow. iv81, they don't use solid oxygen.

  • elighten me of what state potasium nitrate is then, one of the oxidizers used in BP.

  • umm, u sure that was aluminum?.. only magnesium is known to ignite on it's own.

  • yes, i promise...it is pure 100% aluminum. and technically under the right conditions virtually any metal will combust w/ oxygen. Copper, Iron, Cobalt, aluminum, and Zinc are among the most comonly combusted metals. Just think about how fireworks operate. (burning metals)!!

  • I'm aware that fireworks operate with solid oxygen. Never knew you could make metal such as aluminum burn on it's own with the ammount of oxygen available in the air we breathe, Interesting
