@LocoYoFla Dude you know that Charlie Crist ran for Governor over two years ago on the Republican Ticket. He wasn't a Republican then. You know this right?
@olgadel1 I'm a Democrat who voted for Charlie in 2006 for Governor. He's never been a hardcore Conservative Republican. He appointed many Democrats in his first year in office. He was also the first Republican Florida Governor to be invited to NAACP events.
@LocoYoFla He is qualified because he was invited to NAACP events? So by appointing Democrats that makes him qualified? Marco Rubio is the man. Lower taxes cut government spending make the government more efficient.
@olgadel1 Rubio has been quoted by the Tampa Tribune as saying the tax cuts provided by the Obama stimulus "were not the right kind of tax cuts." Instead, Rubio "would have like to have seen a flattening of income taxes by lowering tax rates for the highest income earners, eliminating capital gain taxes, and lowering corporate income taxes." Yes, he's for tax cuts, but only for the super wealthy and large corporations.
I love it! Go Charlie. Its the Republicans nightmare! Chalk it up a win for the Dems. I could go on and on....Morris, O'Rielly...etc
@LocoYoFla Funny that the Republicans shunned him for his enbrace with Obama. They refused to support him and now he's gone independant and is going to mess up their chances of winning Florida. He will then get a place in the administration at some point. I say good for him! :)
We deserve the government leaders we get....Crist is a phony...like Reagan, like Clinton, like Nixon.....all a-hole fakers..... He will probably get elected to the Senate.
Well I think Cuban Americans have more than enough influence down in south Florida as is. No Mark Rubio for me and out friends. I think Crist did a good job for the state of Florida because he placed his state before his party.
I'm a Cuban that lives in Miami. I can tell you that the Cubans do have a lot of influence, but we are not the majority. Cubans are about half of the Hispanic population and a third of the total population. of the County. Miami-Dade County always goes Democratic in presidential elections. Cubans Americans in Florida are being outnumbered by other Hispanic groups that don't reliably vote Republican like the Cubans, .i.e. Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, South Americans, etc.
Well this A** hole has decided to go the third party route. That's a great American and if you believe that I've got some swamp land in Nevada to sell you.
Charlie Crist is an in-the-closet gay hypocrite who votes against gay issues. Dont vote for this guy because he votes against his own people. See the movie: Outrage. Outrage is a newer movie (November 2009) which publicly outs in-the-closet gay politician hypocrites who consistently vote against gay right issues.
Crist is a piece of shit if he runs as an independent. This is a Republican year, and the last thing that Florida needs is the conservative vote being split in November.
@Edgehead10075 "This is a Republican year" .... How about we leave it up to the voters to decide that. Crist doesn't divide the conservative vote, he gets his base from independents, Democrats and some moderate Republicans. He is currently ahead in the polls and could win without the Conservative vote.
If Crist were smart, he would have dropped out of the Republican and wait to challenge Bill Nelson - whom I believe he could give a run for his money.
There's no way Crist could win any Republican primary after vetoing SB 6. The Republicans are VERY close minded in Florida and are going "RINO hunting" as they so eloquently put it.
And going RINO hunting is fine with me ! The Republican needs to be cleanse itself of these people. I am tired of the Michael Bloombergs', Arlen Specters', Scott Browns', Dede Scosafavas' of the world and now you can throw in Charlie Crist. These people need to be thrown out on their ass.
You guys are nuts if you think going "RINO hunting" is a winning strategy for a general election. The Democrats did not regain the House and Senate in 2006 by nominating extreme left-wing candidates. They had to nominate center-left "Blue Dogs" to get the independent and some of the Conservative vote.
The Republicans are totally misreading the electorate if they think this is an anti-Democrat, pro-Extreme Republican year.
"The Democrats did not regain the House and Senate in 2006 by nominating extreme left-wing candidates." - LocoYoFla
Yes, actually they did. Those same "Blue Dogs" were also voted into office again in 2008 and voted for the healthcare bill which gives the government more power than it has ever had. If you believe that Obama, Pelosi and Reid are somehow moderate, then you do not know very much about politics and continuing a conversation with you is pointless.
@mrblujet I hope you Republicans go "RINO hunting" and nominate the most far-right extreme Republicans like Rand Paul who believe just about any government action is going too far. Rand Paul believes the Civil Rights Act goes too far. He also believes that American Disabilities Act is wrong because it oversteps government authority. He also believes that we don't need an EPA, because the private sector can adequately secure the environment.
Crist supports Cap and Trade, stimulus, Crist has been somewhat coy about his stance on immigration issues, but has generally been sympathetic toward immigration reform proposals including an amnesty provision for illegals.
I don't understand.... The Republican-controlled Florida legislature has gladly the stimulus money to balance the budget and keep teachers and police officers from being laid off.
Do they believe that Crist should have done like all the other Republican governors and accepted the stimulus while simultaneously criticizing it?
@LocoYoFla ,there is a struggle inside the republican party.Crist represents the group that has had control for many years, the RINO's.They want open borders, open trade with the chicoms, amnesty for illegals.Mccain, graham, spectre, snowe are all in this group. Now there is a growing movement called the tea party that want to shake things up,they believe
"America" must be defined by "borders, language and culture".
@LocoYoFla Should Republican governors accept the stimulus money while criticizing it? Sure. That sounds hypocritical, but it isn't. They can't get what they prefer, which is federal tax cuts. So they should use what is available, even if they don't like it. You might rather have rainbows than rain; but if it rains, you're not a hypocrite to water your plants.
@rockinray76 "Crist cares about the people... as long as they are Christian conservatives" Trust me nothing could be FURTHER from the truth. Crist was the first Republican Florida Governor to be invited to NAACP events.
than why did charlie crist sign into law the biggest tax increase in florida history, its funny how crist takes credit for other peoples work,it was him who allowed all felons to vote in florida no matter what thier crime was,he is a joke
@singledad11 No, you are wrong. You might be pissed that Crist allowed the polls to stay open longer in 2008 due to the long lines of voters. This has nothing to do with allowing felons to vote. Its been on the books for years that a felon can appeal FDLE to have his voting rights restored after time served & his/her debt to society paid. What you speak of, Sir, reeks of everything that is against democracy. If anything, this is one thing Crist did right; you are in the wrong.
what on earth are you talking about? The snow birds who hold duel residence up north & down here & chose to illicitly vote twice in federal elections are predominately rich, white, conservatives.
They should be prosecuted. That should hole your argument on two counts.
Most snow birds here in Palm Beach County are overwhelming Democrat. They tend to come from New York where they have traditionally voted Democrat their whole lives.
I think it's different though in other parts of the state.
Thank you for your response, LocoYoFla. Sun City isn't far and that was a bastion of Bush/Cheney in '04. Tampa Bay seems to be a hot bed for entitlement seeking republican seniors, I could be wrong.
And I believe duel voters should be prosecuted, regardless.
As for your discussions about "bright futures," wasn't that a stock market based approach to investment? I know Cali had a similar program & it is in the toilet. Thank God Congress didn't back GW's desire to put federal $'s in the market.
Could you please explain how Crist signed into the "largest tax increase in Florida history?" Yes, license and registration fees did go up, because the Florida legislature did not want to raise the sales tax rate to cover the huge budget gap in 2009.
Felons should be allowed to vote. After they have served their time and paid their dues, they are reintegrated back into our society.
1st you need to read what he signed into law , there were many new taxes, for example the 1.00 a pack cigarette tax and so many others.not to mention the cut in bright futures for kids going to college and raising the cost of all universities.
just check out the trip he made to Europe
and how he spent floridas taxpayors money.
Charlie C. is the biggest joke in history, its funny everytime the media catches him in another lie.
the people of Florida are to smart to ever vote for him again.
Firstly, no other governor since the Great Depression has presided over such a steep loss of revenue from economic decline. The Florida legislature had to get more revenue from somewhere, and the cigarette tax affected the least amount of people.
Secondly, the changes in Bright Future requirements are completely necessary. You have multi-million dollar families that still qualify for the scholarship.
Crist went to Europe to try to attract industry, ALL governors go on trips to do that.
firstly , Bush left him with a surplus, and the taxes he signed off on was a direct aim at the low and middle class during hard times.
2nd. you agree that charlie has hurt all low and middle income college students who depended on this funding for college now many of them had to drop out because of what he did.
No other governor ever spent that kind of taxpayer money on a trip, even the lib. media are laughing at the cost not to mention the room service bill. it was another one, vacation
Yes, Jeb Bush left the Florida budget in very good condition. But, Jeb never had to do a budget during a complete economic collapse which forced the Florida legislature and Crist to make very uncomfortable and unpopular decisions.
Secondly, it's not Crist that raised university tution. The Florida Senate voted to give 11 state universities the option to increase tuition to offset the budget gap.
If you don't think they should have tuition, where should they have gotten the revenue?
Crist had the choice not to sign the bill that cut back on Bright Futures, now all of these families will remember that when they go to the polls to vote.Crist is desparate now that he is like 30% down in the polls, the people of Florida don't like him, maybe because he is on vacation more than any governor in the U.S., Maybe he will change his last name like his father did to get elected because they sure don't like Crist
1st off thats not true, my kid gets bright futures,so I know what I'm talking about. The university got millions from the federal government, they just hired 87 teachersthis past fall, and look at the courses that are being taught,
Yes, they do get less for bright futures.. but do you honestly expect taxpayers to pay for all of your kids' tuition? Wouldn't a conservative consider that socialism and welfare?
for your information the university of Florida cut spending last year and did away with programs that were useless. Now that they got this money they are wasting it on useless projects again and increaseing thier salaries . AS I can see you are trying to justify all the bad decisions that Carlie C. made, could it be that you are working for him? Give it a break the people do not want Crist to be Senator, I talk to alot of people each day and can not find 1 person who would vote for him.
My guess is that you work for the crist campaign, for a so-called democrat to love crist that much and to try and get him elected, its ok everyone needs a job, just make sure you vote for Marco Rubio, because we all know we can't trust CharlieC.he could not get elected dog catcher.
Also, you do know that all budget-related items come from the Florida legislature (which is among the most conservative in the country--nearly 70% Republican) and then the governor can sign or veto it.
So, if you're complaining that Crist isn't fiscally Conservative, then you need to do the same for the Republican dominated legislature.
Also, wouldn't a "true conservative" see Bright Futures as a type of socialism?
charlie ,cant make a decision until he finds out if it will cost him a vote, and most of us know he would change his political party if it meant a larger office.
Sorry charlie, everyone in my family will vote for Marco Rubio to be our next Senator.
How could anyone in thier right mind vote for Charlie C.after knowing about his past,
right now the democrats are hoping that charlie beats Rubio in the primary, which is highly unlikely, because they know that repubilcans will not turn out to vote for him.
Charlie should be made to pay back the tax-payors money he wasted in Europe on luxury hotels and room service well over what some people make in a year, maybe someone should tell him that he is no king
Here's the latest poll numbers from PPP (taken 3/5/10 to 3/8/10):
Crist (R) vs Meeks (D): 46%, 33% (+13%)
Rubio (R) vs Meeks (D): 44%, 39% (+5%)
Primary Rubio vs Crist: 60%, 28% (+32%)
I don't think Crist can win the primary. But Rubio will obviously be the easier candidate for the Democrats to beat.
This poll was also taken before all the news came out about how Rubio can't account for $120k in campaign contributions and how he hired family members.
@singledad11 "The Democrats are hoping charlie beats Rubio in the primary"... Wow a lot has changed, because Charlie is leading in the polls in the general election as an independent.
You made one other point about Crist raising the tuition rate at universities. What would you have rather him done? Raise general revenue taxes (i.e. sales tax) or raise tuition to pay for the budget gap?
trip to EU wasn't paid by taxpayers. Media catches Rubio in more "lies" than Christ. Rubio is more of an opportunist, more ambitious than good 'ol Charlie... and, bottom line, isn't electable in a state-wide general contest.
the trip was paid for by taxpayers , the trip total was over 400,000 for luxury hotels and accomadations fit for a king and his wife the queen, not to mention over$30,000 of personal expence for crist paid for by all of the special interest that went with him, I would like to see that souvenir crist brought home, and the truth about lies is that the media is laughing at charlie for telling so many lies its funny,
@singledad11 The $430,000 figure Rubio campaign quoted for the Crist trip was proved false by the Miami Herald's fact checker PoltiFact Florida. The total trip cost was $17,638.43 for everyone that went. The trip was paid entirely by business executives trying to lure European business (NO taxpayer money was used). Just google "PolitiFact Crist trip" and you can see all the details.
As a Republican, I hate to tell you this but just to let you know that your Republican Governor Rick RINO Perry is a fiscal liberal, but he is a social conservative, he like Crist raised taxes in 2009 and got at least billions of the stimulus money and it did not solve the deficit. The REAL conservative candidate Texans should support at least is Debra Medina. She's a real conservative and possibly the next coming of Sarah Palin if elected Texas Governor.
Just paid double the amount of the fees on the registration of my 2 cars, my boat, my boat's trailer and all when I'm praying I don't loose my job, from 18 employees we are down to 4, thanks Crist, you are a RINO.
@robh2000 You criticize the Florida legislature for raising registration fees... But where should they have come up with the revenue to keep the state government running? Even with the stimulus money received, the Florida budget faced a HUGE shortfall going through the worst recession since the Great Depression. State government employees haven't received pay raises in many years. Would you have rather raised sales taxes?
I guess all the rural floridians said"well goll lee,his name is christ so we'll vote for him",not understanding he's just another rino selling the country out to the highest bidder.
In the two years that charlie Christ has been in office Tolls prices have gone up Utility prices have gone up unemployment is up and wages in this state are stagnant.65% of Florida residents make less than 32thousand a year.the only reason he want to be senator is to push for drilling on Florida's coast i am willing to place bets on it he is an oil company plant if there ever was one .watch this guy.
I'm not voting for Charlie Crist but isn't offshore drilling or drilling for oil anywhere her in the U.S. a good thing? Think of how it would solve our dependence on foreign oil not to mention solve our debt problems!
Consider that most of the oil we drill at home is sold into the world market and that we import most of what we use. (i have no idea why it is so but it is look it up)and you have to come to the conclusion that drilling for more oil at home doesn't really help us, it helps oil prices. We live in a technology rich society with the resources to get of oil we have to look past drilling for more oil. Energy can be free they just want to keep selling it to you.
Charlie Crist ran for Governor and got elected when I was still a Florida resident. I did not vote for him then, but I would gladly vote for him now. He's one of a small handful of Republicans that actually care about the Country, instead of just catering to big business and special interest groups. To me, Charlie Crist is a good candidate for the "Profile in Courage" award, and I hope he gets it someday. This is a true gentleman, and my state of Florida is lucky to have him as Governor!!
I am from Florida and I hate Charlie Crist. I don't want to steal money from other states. These guy thinks he can get free money lol. Tax cuts and increased spending lol.
charlie crist you raised our taxesand now you want my vote for senate, I DON'T THINK SO,I will vote for marco rubio and if he does'nt win , I will for the 1st. time vote for a democrat,Charlie crist you lost this family's vote for senate .This might teach you a lesson and not lie to the citizens of Florida again.
Just because he calls himself a moderate does not mean that that is what he is. he has spent his entire time in office trying to get another job first it was trying to be the vp when he licked mc cain's boots up and down the state and now he is running for senate Florida is in trouble he should be focusing on us
have have you been , charlie crist signed a bill this year to increase a tax on every floridian, you will see when you go and buy a tag or pay for your registation, many other taxes this governor imposed on us, and if you smoke it's a extra 10.00 a carton, go to the georgia -florida border people are now goiny there to buy them. Crist can't make a decision until he finds out if he could get a vote out of it.He is a fake that is why people are switching to marco rubio for senate .
charlie crist raised our taxes more than anyone in the state of florida has ever done , so i will vote for marco rubio, and if marco doesn't beat charlie, i will do something i never done before and vote for a democrat. charlie crist you lied to the citizens of florida and now you must be punished
When you go to a scrap yard in Florida now because of a new law, they take your finger prints even if you just have aluminum cans so Charlie will not be getting another vote from me. Our constitution was written for a purpose and if the bums don't like it, then throw the bums out!
too many extremists in the GOP...all stuck in the past. They all think they are 100% right and there is no comprimise. People who think like this are useful tools for abject tyranny.
If the Republicans don't embrace republicans like Crist, we will have four more years of Obama. The Dick Cheneys and Rush Limbaughs of the Republican party are alienating all potential Republican voters. We need a moderate to take our party back to the top
If he paired up with Bobby Jindal, we could have the first homosexual president (not counting Lincoln... you don't have any proof!) and first exorcist VP!
God help us if they won, but it certainly would be interesting... in a Douglas Adams kind of way.
Just because the money is being spent by the state branch offices of a de facto federal government doesn't mean the spending will help anybody. The spending helps the bureaucrats and government.
Crist would be a terrible candidate for 2012. I think the best candidate so far is Mitt Romney. Not too much baggage, other than his faith. Mitt Romney has excellent and engaging speaking skills. He would cream Obama in 2012 and he would have creamed him in 2008.
Crist is just another (I want to be in Washington ) democrat. He needs to change parties. Where the hell does he think the money is coming from for his state? it's coming from us taxpayers.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Crist pwned Jindal This Jindal guy is supposed to be the next Ronald Reagan? Now maybe he does better in other settings but on the show he just came off as boring and nothing to offer but standard Bush Republican talking points.
Perhaps Gov Crist should start raising state income tax on his residents who need help instead of taking handouts from residents of 49 other states - 56 if you listen to Obama.
One of those top social conservative politicians that are fiscal liberals?

Cubans Americans in Florida are being outnumbered by other Hispanic groups that don't reliably vote Republican like the Cubans, .i.e. Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, South Americans, etc.

Edgehead10075 1 year ago
@Edgehead10075 "This is a Republican year" .... How about we leave it up to the voters to decide that. Crist doesn't divide the conservative vote, he gets his base from independents, Democrats and some moderate Republicans. He is currently ahead in the polls and could win without the Conservative vote.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
I think that Crist is being selfish by running as an independent instead of doing what's best for the team, that is, Team GOP.
Edgehead10075 1 year ago
If Crist were smart, he would have dropped out of the Republican and wait to challenge Bill Nelson - whom I believe he could give a run for his money.
mrblujet 1 year ago
@mrblujet
There's no way Crist could win any Republican primary after vetoing SB 6. The Republicans are VERY close minded in Florida and are going "RINO hunting" as they so eloquently put it.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
And going RINO hunting is fine with me ! The Republican needs to be cleanse itself of these people. I am tired of the Michael Bloombergs', Arlen Specters', Scott Browns', Dede Scosafavas' of the world and now you can throw in Charlie Crist. These people need to be thrown out on their ass.
mrblujet 1 year ago
@mrblujet
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
"The Democrats did not regain the House and Senate in 2006 by nominating extreme left-wing candidates." - LocoYoFla
Yes, actually they did. Those same "Blue Dogs" were also voted into office again in 2008 and voted for the healthcare bill which gives the government more power than it has ever had. If you believe that Obama, Pelosi and Reid are somehow moderate, then you do not know very much about politics and continuing a conversation with you is pointless.

@mrblujet If Republicans nominate a Conservative Tea Party Republican in Mass. They would lose.. No question.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago

Kissificationify 1 year ago
I don't understand.... The Republican-controlled Florida legislature has gladly the stimulus money to balance the budget and keep teachers and police officers from being laid off.
Do they believe that Crist should have done like all the other Republican governors and accepted the stimulus while simultaneously criticizing it?
LocoYoFla 1 year ago 3

You might rather have rainbows than rain; but if it rains, you're not a hypocrite to water your plants.

than why did charlie crist sign into law the biggest tax increase in florida history, its funny how crist takes credit for other peoples work,it was him who allowed all felons to vote in florida no matter what thier crime was,he is a joke
singledad11 1 year ago
@singledad11 No, you are wrong. You might be pissed that Crist allowed the polls to stay open longer in 2008 due to the long lines of voters. This has nothing to do with allowing felons to vote. Its been on the books for years that a felon can appeal FDLE to have his voting rights restored after time served & his/her debt to society paid. What you speak of, Sir, reeks of everything that is against democracy. If anything, this is one thing Crist did right; you are in the wrong.
RightWingDown 1 year ago
you must think democracy is allowing people to vote more than once,
singledad11 1 year ago
what on earth are you talking about? The snow birds who hold duel residence up north & down here & chose to illicitly vote twice in federal elections are predominately rich, white, conservatives.
They should be prosecuted. That should hole your argument on two counts.
RightWingDown 1 year ago
Most snow birds here in Palm Beach County are overwhelming Democrat. They tend to come from New York where they have traditionally voted Democrat their whole lives.
I think it's different though in other parts of the state.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
Thank you for your response, LocoYoFla. Sun City isn't far and that was a bastion of Bush/Cheney in '04. Tampa Bay seems to be a hot bed for entitlement seeking republican seniors, I could be wrong.
And I believe duel voters should be prosecuted, regardless.
As for your discussions about "bright futures," wasn't that a stock market based approach to investment? I know Cali had a similar program & it is in the toilet. Thank God Congress didn't back GW's desire to put federal $'s in the market.
RightWingDown 1 year ago
Could you please explain how Crist signed into the "largest tax increase in Florida history?" Yes, license and registration fees did go up, because the Florida legislature did not want to raise the sales tax rate to cover the huge budget gap in 2009.
Felons should be allowed to vote. After they have served their time and paid their dues, they are reintegrated back into our society.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
1st you need to read what he signed into law , there were many new taxes, for example the 1.00 a pack cigarette tax and so many others.not to mention the cut in bright futures for kids going to college and raising the cost of all universities.
just check out the trip he made to Europe
and how he spent floridas taxpayors money.
Charlie C. is the biggest joke in history, its funny everytime the media catches him in another lie.
the people of Florida are to smart to ever vote for him again.
singledad11 1 year ago
Firstly, no other governor since the Great Depression has presided over such a steep loss of revenue from economic decline. The Florida legislature had to get more revenue from somewhere, and the cigarette tax affected the least amount of people.
Secondly, the changes in Bright Future requirements are completely necessary. You have multi-million dollar families that still qualify for the scholarship.
Crist went to Europe to try to attract industry, ALL governors go on trips to do that.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
firstly , Bush left him with a surplus, and the taxes he signed off on was a direct aim at the low and middle class during hard times.
2nd. you agree that charlie has hurt all low and middle income college students who depended on this funding for college now many of them had to drop out because of what he did.
No other governor ever spent that kind of taxpayer money on a trip, even the lib. media are laughing at the cost not to mention the room service bill. it was another one, vacation
singledad11 1 year ago
Yes, Jeb Bush left the Florida budget in very good condition. But, Jeb never had to do a budget during a complete economic collapse which forced the Florida legislature and Crist to make very uncomfortable and unpopular decisions.
Secondly, it's not Crist that raised university tution. The Florida Senate voted to give 11 state universities the option to increase tuition to offset the budget gap.
If you don't think they should have tuition, where should they have gotten the revenue?
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
Crist had the choice not to sign the bill that cut back on Bright Futures, now all of these families will remember that when they go to the polls to vote.Crist is desparate now that he is like 30% down in the polls, the people of Florida don't like him, maybe because he is on vacation more than any governor in the U.S., Maybe he will change his last name like his father did to get elected because they sure don't like Crist
singledad11 1 year ago
Bright Futures was cut in 2 ways:
1) Children of wealthier families no longer qualify (before it was not income based)
2) If you grades drop below 3.0 for 2 semesters you will be droped out of the program.
Perhaps the Florida legislature should have just pulled the money out of thin air, rather than make cuts or increase taxes.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
1st off thats not true, my kid gets bright futures,so I know what I'm talking about. The university got millions from the federal government, they just hired 87 teachersthis past fall, and look at the courses that are being taught,
singledad11 1 year ago
Yes, they do get less for bright futures.. but do you honestly expect taxpayers to pay for all of your kids' tuition? Wouldn't a conservative consider that socialism and welfare?
"and look at the courses that are being taught"
What are the courses too liberal??
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
Secondly, without the economic stimulus money from the federal government, the state universities would have be forced to raise tuition even more.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
for your information the university of Florida cut spending last year and did away with programs that were useless. Now that they got this money they are wasting it on useless projects again and increaseing thier salaries . AS I can see you are trying to justify all the bad decisions that Carlie C. made, could it be that you are working for him? Give it a break the people do not want Crist to be Senator, I talk to alot of people each day and can not find 1 person who would vote for him.
singledad11 1 year ago
The Florida university system laid off valuable good professors. If you think it was just useless programs that were cut, you are truly delusional.
Yes, I know Crist should have cut taxes and made the money out of thin air to not cut Bright Futures (SARCASM).
Quit living in Republican fantasy land! In the real world, you have to make hard decisions that are not always going to be popular.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
I hope Rubio wins the election. Because the margin between Meeks and Rubio is much slimmer than the margin between Meeks and Crist.
Yes, the University of Florida was forced to cut spending and raise tutition. That's how bad the situation was!!
BTW, could you mention specifically what programs you consider to be useless?
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
My guess is that you work for the crist campaign, for a so-called democrat to love crist that much and to try and get him elected, its ok everyone needs a job, just make sure you vote for Marco Rubio, because we all know we can't trust CharlieC.he could not get elected dog catcher.
singledad11 1 year ago
Also, you do know that all budget-related items come from the Florida legislature (which is among the most conservative in the country--nearly 70% Republican) and then the governor can sign or veto it.
So, if you're complaining that Crist isn't fiscally Conservative, then you need to do the same for the Republican dominated legislature.
Also, wouldn't a "true conservative" see Bright Futures as a type of socialism?
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
charlie ,cant make a decision until he finds out if it will cost him a vote, and most of us know he would change his political party if it meant a larger office.
Sorry charlie, everyone in my family will vote for Marco Rubio to be our next Senator.
How could anyone in thier right mind vote for Charlie C.after knowing about his past,
singledad11 1 year ago
I can't believe I'm talking to a Republican that is upset about tuition hikes and cuts to Bright Futures.
Hey, the world is tough. The government can't take care of everyone.
And this is coming from a Democrat!
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
right now the democrats are hoping that charlie beats Rubio in the primary, which is highly unlikely, because they know that repubilcans will not turn out to vote for him.
Charlie should be made to pay back the tax-payors money he wasted in Europe on luxury hotels and room service well over what some people make in a year, maybe someone should tell him that he is no king
singledad11 1 year ago
Here's the latest poll numbers from PPP (taken 3/5/10 to 3/8/10):
Crist (R) vs Meeks (D): 46%, 33% (+13%)
Rubio (R) vs Meeks (D): 44%, 39% (+5%)
Primary Rubio vs Crist: 60%, 28% (+32%)
I don't think Crist can win the primary. But Rubio will obviously be the easier candidate for the Democrats to beat.
This poll was also taken before all the news came out about how Rubio can't account for $120k in campaign contributions and how he hired family members.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
@singledad11 "The Democrats are hoping charlie beats Rubio in the primary"... Wow a lot has changed, because Charlie is leading in the polls in the general election as an independent.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago

mrblujet 1 year ago
@mrblujet
What poll am I looking at? Mason-Dixon shows Rubio 32, Crist 39, Meek 19; Quinnipiac shows Rubio 30, Crist 32, Meek 24; Rasmussen Reports shows Rubio ahead though.
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
You made one other point about Crist raising the tuition rate at universities. What would you have rather him done? Raise general revenue taxes (i.e. sales tax) or raise tuition to pay for the budget gap?
LocoYoFla 1 year ago
trip to EU wasn't paid by taxpayers. Media catches Rubio in more "lies" than Christ. Rubio is more of an opportunist, more ambitious than good 'ol Charlie... and, bottom line, isn't electable in a state-wide general contest.
RightWingDown 1 year ago
the trip was paid for by taxpayers , the trip total was over 400,000 for luxury hotels and accomadations fit for a king and his wife the queen, not to mention over$30,000 of personal expence for crist paid for by all of the special interest that went with him, I would like to see that souvenir crist brought home, and the truth about lies is that the media is laughing at charlie for telling so many lies its funny,
Rubio is beating everyone in the polls.
singledad11 1 year ago
@singledad11 The $430,000 figure Rubio campaign quoted for the Crist trip was proved false by the Miami Herald's fact checker PoltiFact Florida. The total trip cost was $17,638.43 for everyone that went. The trip was paid entirely by business executives trying to lure European business (NO taxpayer money was used). Just google "PolitiFact Crist trip" and you can see all the details.

The REAL conservative candidate Texans should support at least is Debra Medina. She's a real conservative and possibly the next coming of Sarah Palin if elected Texas Governor.

robh2000 2 years ago
@robh2000 You criticize the Florida legislature for raising registration fees... But where should they have come up with the revenue to keep the state government running? Even with the stimulus money received, the Florida budget faced a HUGE shortfall going through the worst recession since the Great Depression. State government employees haven't received pay raises in many years. Would you have rather raised sales taxes?

Consider that most of the oil we drill at home is sold into the world market and that we import most of what we use. Energy can be free they just want to keep selling it to you.
