Shouldn't Obama be brought up on international terrorism charges for his handling of the Somali pirate incident. The captain was not in iminent danger, the vessel was being towed in Somalia waters. There was no need to the execution of the alleged pirates. For all we know, the alleged pirates were either fishermen who had their livelihood taken away by the illegal international fishing fleets in Somalia or hostages who had to participate because their families were held hostage.

Shouldn't Obama be brought up on international terrorism charges for his handling of the Somali pirate incident. The captain was not in iminent danger, the vessel was being towed in Somalia waters. There was no need to the execution of the alleged pirates. For all we know, the alleged pirates were either fishermen who had their livelihood taken away by the illegal international fishing fleets in Somalia or hostages who had to participate because their families were held hostage.

These soldiers are not simply claiming they were ordered; evidence exists that they knew torture was wrong, but were misled by legal authorities on the definition of torture. jreed, you don't seem to understand that other people have a point in being critical of our behavior - we were wrong, and made some bad decisions out of fear. Invading Iraq when there were no WMD = bad move. Of course others have made bad decisions, and America isnt the only one, however, in this case I think its important to purge ourselves of Bush era policies, ask for forgiveness, and hope that we can restore our good name. Most Americans are good people, as I believe other nations are.

In Nuremberg carrying out orders was ruled out as a defense. Prosecution is law and order, not retribution or revenge. The international courts should go ahead and try some of these people, and let the USA respond as it wishes. By the way, did Russia do anything to bring people who ran Gulags and tortured (NKVD etc) to justice?

All news here are spinning for those news. They try to find totally alternative meanings to things, and the claims are not based on reality. The RT headline "Obama has violated international law", and the scroll "UN versus Obama" have nothing to do with reality, as anyone with any intelligence or sense of fairness knows.
Contrast this report with the RT defense of Dear Leader Kim last week. Very sad.
Al-Jazeera is much more level-headed and circumspect alternative new source. RT is hack, period.

Americans tend to be extremely ignorant of history. Many here actually think that the US was a shining light in the world until Bush messed it up. They don't know that the US invaded Russia, Cuba, Iran, Dominican Republic, Canada, Mexico, etc etc etc. (Probably easier to list countries that we haven't invaded) It would be great if the UN actually started a trial against the US on this issue.

In the first place, this country has rules about freedom of speech and is probably one of the top 50 countries to live in.
But that has nothing to do with the fact that our leaders, including Obama, have violated international laws and there should be some recognition of this. As Rev Wright has said, the chickens will come home to roost.
