@barberof1965 Well in this video I had only been playing about a month, now I've had it for a little more than a year. Maybe I can get my roommate (a much better banjo player than me) to put a video or two up. Enjoy your playing!
Good job! Don't worry about restarts. I get all fumble fingered when I play in front of anyone. Usually after awhile I finally forget the're there. Really good playing!
thats hella cool! see i play the electric...and now Im wondering how different is it from a guitar? like is it hard to transition...can i use some guitar basics?
Clawhammer is quite a bit different than guitar. You know... your left hand finger technique is about the same, but the hard part is working your right hand into a demented claw... and it's a little rough on your nails too. Oh, and it's tuned nothing like a guitar. This song is in GDGBD
Thanks. You're probably used to the bluegrass style banjo, which is twangy and slightly annoying. This style is clawhammer, and is used in "Old Time" music.
Claw hammer is used a lot in Bluegrass too, the Great Ralph Stanley plays as much two-finger as he does three-finger. Well used to before his arthritis caught up with him. Ricky Skaggs, also plays claw hammer. Really to many players to mention. Good playing, but I wouldn't call Scruggs style picking annoying, it's good to have variety.
Nice job, thanks for sharing.

Rock on. Almost every time I hear the banjo it is kind of annoyingly-twangy, but that had a richer sound that I liked. Nice job! :)
