  • Nice job, thanks for sharing.

  • Hey, nice tune, nice playing! Was playing tenor banjo but now i want to buy a goodtime and learn reg. banjo. How long have you been playing?????

  • @barberof1965 Well in this video I had only been playing about a month, now I've had it for a little more than a year. Maybe I can get my roommate (a much better banjo player than me) to put a video or two up. Enjoy your playing!

  • Excellent! Loved it!

  • well done.....nice version...

  • Good job! Don't worry about restarts. I get all fumble fingered when I play in front of anyone. Usually after awhile I finally forget the're there. Really good playing!

  • Sounds good man. I'm looking at getting a deering goodtime; still enjoying yours?

  • I forgot all about that old tune. I always meant to learn that one. Good job, 5 starts.

  • great job!

  • Way to go Wes. That was was good. I hope you can show Jenn this xmas. Check out the beard your getting grizzly adams on me. See you at xmas.

by the way this is Johnny

  • Very good, a 5 star performance :)

  • wesley you use and DVD's or books? I am looking for a good one!

  • sounds good, slow it down the traditonal way to play it is a little slower. BUt hey stills sounds damn good.

  • Good going Wesley!

  • Perfect..Nice job man

  • Best version I've ever heard! Are there tabs for it on the net?

  • Well thanks. I sure don't know about finding those tabs online. I'll go looking for you though.

  • Well I can tell you that this version is in the book "Southern Mountain Banjo" by Wayne Erbsen. Awesome book really...

  • @wesleyburkhart you are very talented you rock

  • @shockofgod I can tell we won't always agree. But I can tell you're a solid guy.

  • thats hella cool! see i play the electric...and now Im wondering how different is it from a guitar? like is it hard to transition...can i use some guitar basics?

  • Clawhammer is quite a bit different than guitar. You know... your left hand finger technique is about the same, but the hard part is working your right hand into a demented claw... and it's a little rough on your nails too. Oh, and it's tuned nothing like a guitar. This song is in GDGBD

  • Very nice. I like that... I think you did it perfect..

  • Rock on. Almost every time I hear the banjo it is kind of annoyingly-twangy, but that had a richer sound that I liked. Nice job! :)

  • Thanks. You're probably used to the bluegrass style banjo, which is twangy and slightly annoying. This style is clawhammer, and is used in "Old Time" music.

  • Claw hammer is used a lot in Bluegrass too, the Great Ralph Stanley plays as much two-finger as he does three-finger. Well used to before his arthritis caught up with him. Ricky Skaggs, also plays claw hammer. Really to many players to mention. Good playing, but I wouldn't call Scruggs style picking annoying, it's good to have variety.

  • Nice tone-good job

  • Ya did fine....good job...

  • well done mate, well played!!!
