  • Very nice version, i listen to billy's version all the time but this almost sounds like a different song.. so beautifull

  • A perfect voice......like no other......so smooth, with a warmth that can't even be described. Dinah's phrasing, dynamic control, voice slides and that vibrato, so quick like hummingbird wings flapping all together keep me wanting to listen over and over. I watched her Talk Show in the 1970's and she always left enough time to fit in one of her songs which delighted all. Dinah was such a kind and understanding person as we all saw when she had a very sick Rock Hudson on.....such good friends.

  • My father wrote and produced the first 163 broadcasts of Command Performance, U.S.A. He recommended that she change her hair color to blond. She remembered Dad on pg.251 of her book "Dinah."

  • Three cheers for the piano player also. Very nice.

  • WHAT A VOICE !!! CONTROL ALL THE WAY ..not bad for a little girl from Winchestrer Tenn..r.i.p. Dinah

  • It was such nice even before I was born!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My mother has a signed photo-print of Dinah from 1944 I just pulled out of a treasure chest and framed. It's nice to hear the voice behind the photograph. Very lovely.

  • dinah had a long-standing thing for burt reynolds. burt starred as a detective in a movie. last scene shows the criminal going under water in the charles river, i think, accompanied by dinah shore singing this song. beautifully haunting. quite the lady.

  • Very nicely sung by Miss Dinah Shore herself! YouTube is a great place to hear old songs you've never heard and/or new songs you've yet to hear. :D

    Thanks for posting!

  • This song was one of several "G.I." tunes that became so popular during WW2. The emotions of hope, longing and even grief (that the loved one never came back) are all there in this song. My parents spent the war under Nazi occupation in France and heard this tune over the BBC--it became one of their favorites. Thanks so VERY much for posting!!

  • This is the best recording of this song. Ever.
