I like the stress part of the video , nobody thinks about it really . You may be able to shoot that red circle every time , but when someone or something is coming after you , and you get "shook" what good was shooting that little red dot ? Get the heart rate up at the range for a little stress , run a lap , do some jumpin' jacks ! May look dumb , but oh well .
I thought I saw you holding a Ruger SR9c. If that is accurate, I say bravo to you ZT. Most guys would take their high speed, low drag 19rd "combat" pistols and then go home and carry a 5 shot .38 special as their edc pistols.
@bulldogger71 Well, I train like I am likely to fight. The SR9c is my current carry piece, so it makes no sense to go with my Glock 22 for "funzies" in a training class, lol.
Thanks for sharing...New things sometimes scares people but your overview hopefully will push someone to get more training. The more trained good guys out there the better we all are.
Its always nice to catch up with fellow N Cal preppers. The writing is written clearly on the wall for this valley though and I will be moving my family from Folsom north into S. Oregon by summer, and build our homestead. Good luck on the rooftops in the up and comings.
Don't forget that they let us re-take any mobile course at their home range later for half price! I think Tactical Response and I.C.E. are tied for first place as best tactical training in the nation.
The purpose of TRAINING is to teach you WHAT and HOW to PRACTICE.
You go to train under the watchful eye of an instructor and then you do "homework" practicing those skills until they become ingrained. If a class has too much depth you are paying for practice time at a training rate. Also you may not like everything you are taught and could spend many repetitions ingraining a skill you will have to "unlearn". All that plus I have A.D.D. and so my class outlines keep moving!
Semi-unrelated but just watched a youtube video of a UFC fighter (Frank Mir) And his pistol shooting drills. He talked about doing a few push-ups or doing a little sprint with a friend on your back to get heart rate up and then shooting. Makes sense in the fact that range training is like dojo training. Always could use realism. Doubt that my heart will be at resting pulse when i need to use a firearm in real life scenerio.
@meatloafzombie I think your comment is COMPLETELY related. We can't train with absolute realism, so we need to find various ways to up the stress-quotient, physical factors, etc.
Didn't realize you were near Sac. Thought you were somewhere in Socal for some reason. I'm in Sac (just outside city limits). I guess I should have been paying better attention, that would have been a cool class to take. Any idea if/when they'll be back?
@gboyd242 They are expected back at least once a year. I heard talk of them bringing the advanced-level courses out here as well ... which would be incredible.
@ThePerformanceEdge Aaron: Thanks to both you and Paul for being some of the best coaches I've ever had. There's not a trace of exaggeration in that estimation, BTW. I hope to see you again at some future Tactical Response training or event.
I would say that getting a breadth of exposure to me would be more valuable then depth. Depth/Proficiency, I believe, is something that has to be achieved with practice and time. Exposure to skill sets gives you something to practice...Great Review of the course! ★★★★★
