  • What causes this? It always looks rough as from the bill.

  • @x2REPx The race is caused by rapid moving tide over shallow ground, suddenly reaching an underwater drop-off. Water cannot be compressed so the only way is up! Add wind coning from the opposite direction to the tide and a spring tide and bingo...massive standing waves. Check out my latest vid of bassing in the race.

  • Best way to catch these, is in the estuary with light spinning tackle, gives them a chance to put up a mental fight :P

  • i fished portland race 3 times, i thought i was going to die, sooo sea sick, on the third time the skipper took me back in, he thought i was dieing too, never again
