  • this song makes me smile so much:] i love the fact he's not from here(ireland) but still things about us:) (the girls...people:L) definately my favourite song ever <3

  • steve sure can pick that mandolin!-wonderful-still one of my favorite musicians/songwriters-you go steve!

  • eww is that hair on his forhead? Lol, good song.

  • i need help! how does he play the tune and the chords at like 1:09? not sure how to do this.

  • @quagmire475 hello I think he is playing double stops -- this allows him to give the effect of playing the melody with chords.

  • He needs Sharon Shannon on accordian to accompany him. This version is lacking.

  • love that mandolin, anyone know what it is?

  • @jtallen12345 Bajo Sexto or Banjo or Dombro it is a little bit same sound

  • @jtallen12345 The mandolin looks like a Gibson F-9. These are wonderful mandolins carved out and made on the same production line as the very expensive F-5 models that cost 5 to 7 times as much. They just have less inlay and binding -- very good deal for an insturment.

  • S E looks like he lost weight here. AND HAIR! regardless, still one of my favorite artists with mad talent and a terrific moral compass always pointed True North.

  • Lets be honest, I think 90% of us would choose Mundys cover over this!

  • @Wardimus83 , hahaha yes 90 % of the Irish I guess. the rest of us like the original...But now you dragged me into one of those YT bitch slap internet "fights"...each his own.let's leave it to that.

  • @moe17moe How have I dragged you into a YouTube bitch slap fight? I merely stated my opinion, isn't that what the comments section is for?! If you read my comment, at no point did I say I hated this version, I just said I preferred Mundy's. If anybody has started a fight, it was you!

  • @Wardimus83 OkOk hold your horses. I was just thinkin'out loud as in"before you know it" and all that. Just forget it. Yes the comment section is there to state your opinion. but to kinda state what " 90 % of us think and choose" ? common.

  • @moe17moe I didn't say "90% of us prefer Mundys cover," I said, "I THINK 90% of us prefers Mundays cover." THINK being the operative word, therefore still my opinion.

  • @Wardimus83 , haha you are one stubborn probl. Irish dude. Maybe I should go over to Mundy's clip and say that 99%...naaaah.here's a thought: you stay at Mundy's clips I stay at Steve's, hows that?

  • @moe17moe I'm English, and no, I'll watch and comment on whatever video I like. How about we just block each other and we'll never cross paths again! Remember dude, you started this with your "Bitch Slap" comment.

  • @Wardimus83 ,block me whatever that is for pussy's BTW. you started it . on a Steve Earle vid, thinkin we "care"what you think we think.... to feel the need to "be honest, 90 %.like Mundy...blah blah barf"whatever Im outtahere. you win.happy? don't expect a comeback you start to bore me.

  • @moe17moe Dude, you were fucking boring me the second you sent that first message. Go and plague someone else with your mundane little arguments.

  • @moe17moe mundy is just cashing in on steve earle s talent . I think 99% of irish people and all people would choose steve any day.(This is my view)

  • Steve Earle rules! simple enough

  • hes from birr

  • @Bulgaria4life He is an American. Mundy who covers this is from Birr Co Offaly in Ireland. Neither are from Galway!

  • Where is filmed or where is it taken?

  • princess...you know I'm still waiting for Steve to do a show in the very southeast u.s. :(

  • i know you are, sweetie...i want him to come back to MN, too..when he gets back to the US and A we should just lock him up in the basement!!!!

  • @princessofhesse If we lock him up, make sure he has a guitar with him! :) (ha)

  • oh, yeah, i will have several guitars here that he can chose from....i wanna see him when he's in Fargo in Jan. and my husband is being a real drag about it,....gee, it's only 5 hours from here....gee...

  • Bach and Beethoven wrote songs for the Mandy before there was a guitar. Steve is playing an old Gibson and has a mic mounted on it. Mandys with their own pickups, plugged in to an amp record better; but this must have been great live

  • you are right, my friend, it is better live, i've seen Steve so many times live and this just gets better and better....he's incredible, believe even Bach would have agreed no one does it like Steve Earle...

  • when i am having a bad, bad day, Steve Earle always makes things better.....i am in recovery right now, 23 months clean, could not have done it without Steve's music....

  • shug, Steve Earle is always great live.....

  • It's kind of like the equivalent of a 12 string guitar except the paired strings are the same size tuned the same while on a 12 string the strings are not the same size & are tuned to the same note but an octave apart - it's an 8 string ukelele for midgets & children & Tiny Tim - check out Tiny Tim's version of ACDC 's Highway to Hell.- for once there's some funny stuff on here instead of bitter crap - the Toob rules!

  • YEA!!

  • I love my Steve xx

  • whats that hes playing

  • its a mandolin

  • a beautiful instrument played by a beautiful singer....that's all..

  • Its a guitar for midgets... there was a midget in the front row who asked him to play and sign it for him during this concert

  • wow....midgets...you are smart, my friend,i believe they prefer little people these days.....and Steve Earle plays brilliant on any mandolin, guitar, etc....wow...

  • wow...its called humour and being sarcastic...wow....i know Steve Earle is brilliant....wow....i listen to him all the time...wow...i even play a lot of his music...wow..sorry to all the midgets, dwarfs, hobbits, shire folk etc, out there if i offended you...wow

  • wow

  • wow...i know...thats what i was thinking too....wow

  • yeah, oh well, what can you do? free speech and all, and I thank God for that everyday in this country....i think Mr. Earle would have to agree....

  • Thats great....tow big thumbs up from me !

  • yep, Steve's a huge, inspiring infuence in my life, he's a recovering addict and I've got 2 years clean...love this feller...

  • I've been listening to him for as long as i can remember...theres a good vid of him doing "Johny Come Lately" with The Pogues on here somewhere...also "Tennessee Blues" is a good tune he does a solo acoustic. Yeah he was hard core heroin during the Copper Head Road years. His son does some tunes too but not as good as his dad. Justin Earle I think..Justin Towne Earle or something like that

  • absolutly fukin brilliant

  • makes me want to move to galway :] and makes me want to cry cuz its in ps.i love you. gerard butler is hotttt!

  • gerard butler???? you have hot right here, sweetie, Steve will have it forever, and I've been a fan for 20 years and more...he's the very best at what he does...

  • @tarababe112 ur dumb

  • amazing.

  • try the heggarty twins / nice songs

  • haha. nice

  • Steve Earl should be made an irish citizen. He has the heart and sole of an irish poet.

  • You spelled soul wrong

  • maybe they meant he has an irish person's foot :) I love this song!

  • He spelt it like fish!

  • Not if you are Irish!

  • whats that mean?

  • Always an awsome song.Saw him do this one in Vancouver B.C. in March.

  • I missed the Atlanta concert, so thanks a lot!

  • was that from Somerville?

  • It was from Northampton.

  • great stuff!!!! Steve sang this on his recent stop in Minneapolis for his WSS tour...he's incredible, always....
