This is not acceptable in Islam. There is no hadhis indicate that a women leading a prayer for men and women. This could be a sign of day of judgement. Your are correct Allah swt did not make men better then woman we are created equal but each gender has their set assignments. In prayer it is not correct for a woman to lead because of the art of the prayer you are required to bend over. It is not right for a sincerley modest woman to bend over in front of a male in the way the prayer requires. That is the only reasoning behind women not leading for men.
