Ive had mine for six years after about seven months my monthly stopped still havent had one which i do « love didnt gain any weight due to mirena it has rised n cost n i havent had many downsets n it has been a wonderful product for me
so, well see what happens when i have it removed, i dont want to get prego, so i guess im going to have to use condoms or spermicide, all i know is i want my body back, i dont want to expirement with different birth controlls any more, best of luck with your IUD hope u dont go thru what i did!
ive also experienced irregular bowel movements (weird i know, but i was regular before getting on birth control, but im not now), my stomach always hurts, i always get cramps on the left side, sharp stabbing pain, that last seems like forever, when i first got it put it, i also got alot of yeast infections and bacterial infections, its okay now, but i have to be extremely careful, cant just have spare the moment sex, have to make sure we are both clean showered
ive had my mirena for 5 years now, im actually having it removed 2 weeks from 2day, im kinda of nervous but excited to have my normal body back, umm, my side effects are hair loss(shedding ALOT) , acne!!! OMG ACNE!! weight gain(about 15 lbs) no matter how much i work out or diet i cant seem to keep weight off, irritable, moody, depression, paranoid, cramping, i didnt get a period for about 3 years but for the last two years ive been getting my period on and off, maybe about 2 times a month, umm,
@tastyscorpio25 I did talk to a gyn but I rly didn't think I would be the one who right away doesn't get her period. No I haven't seen one since I need to the week after my period but its not here yet just spoting. :(
@Tastydcorpio25 thanks for easing my mind I wanted to call my doc but I wont anymore. Now im worried at my period. Hasn't came n late. N sex since I got it in so not pregnant but still. I can't wait for my body to adjust to this.
@MsLulu111 Before I got my iud or mad the decision to get it placed I had a consult. Mandatory by the gyn... so I kind of knew what to expect. Not having a period or light to non is an affect. When my periods come now they are spotting to nothing 1-3 days, so its normal. After I had my iud placed it was mandatory that I came it 2 weeks after having it place to make sure it was in properly...have u had an appointment since you got it in?
I have the mirena iud I also had the insane cramping. Its only been 2 weeks n I tried looking for it but can't find it. Still get cramps. Idk what to do.
@MsLulu111 After I had mine placed I went to the doctor 3xs afterwards because of the pain and discomfort, I though that the Iud had came out. The thing is once its in, its in. I usually check for strings but I personally never feel them, but its still there.... Now 8 months later im loving it and my results...thanks for watching and please subscribe
@MsLulu111 i have had the mirena for over a year now and still have cramps that feel like contractions i honestly feel like im having a baby i am definitely getting it removed thats my only side effect
I got my Mirena place in August, I was also in a lot of pain when after the insertion. It was horrible! I always see these videos of horror stories about the Mirena and I really haven't experienced anything that bad. I haven't gained any weight, but I have been breaking out and I never get break outs. Nothing that makeup can't cover up ;). Other than that, a few mood swings here & there but I don't know if the Mirena is to blame. So far, I love it! good luck to you!
I have had my Mirena for about 4 years now soon to be 5 when I will have it replaced with a new one. I have had only one symptom and that was more discharge than usual but the doctor says that's ok. My periods are hit or miss. Sometimes light sometimes not at all. I didn't get mine for birth control but because I had extremely heavy periods and severely anemic. I love mine because it had helped with my periods. Good luck to you.
I had the IUD for 1yr and 3mos. I experience lower back pain and thought it was from giving birth to my second child, but never thought about the iud. The back pain was constant. I had acne, weight gain, mood swing, depression, tenderness of breast, etc. You name it. I never thought about the side effects of the iud and never go to the doctor about it. Finally, I started doing research which I should have done before and most are having the same side effect. If you are experiencing side effects
@BeautyLuV83 oh wow.. I had to have a consult with my gyn before my insertion. My doctor went over my pros and cons of the Mirena. It was my decision afterwords weather or not I wanted it inserted or not. I wish you the best of luck
I am pregnant using Merena IUD, Morning After Pill, and a Condom. I have not gotten the IUD removed yet, as I need to make an appointment. All women in our family have trouble with birth control. Sometimes no birth control will work. But I am not about to let this child die, I am willing to accept my responsibilities as a future mother. :)
@Okalani5000 Wow...what a story...how are ur pregnancy symtoms while on the iud?? I appreciate ur responaibility... this can be dangerous ive heard...how far along are u if u dont mind me asking?
@tastyscorpio25 Turned out, I wasn't pregnant. I had the GI bug and the mirena was causing me to lactate. I am still going to get the IUD removed as the heavy bleeding has returned.
I've had the Mirena IUD for five years now, and I'm about to get it removed and have another one inserted. I do have headaches and dizziness sometimes, but no hair shedding, weight gain, acne. My periods did NOT stop, but they are very light and short.
@blkbutterflii I have been experiencing dizziness as well, but I do look forward to seeing if this works for me. Thank you for watching and commenting...please make sure to subscribe

Hair shedding, cramps, period off and on last all month spotting acne moles all the above u name it mirena does it I've had mine for 4 years finally getting rid of it this year I hate the shedding
@lashawndra803 oh my....I am hearing so many stories....this is going on my 6th month and I have no issues...even my hair shedding has changed... I have noticed that my last period was only for one day...
After watching your video I was to scared to get the mirena. I love the hair on my head lol. I hate shedding. So I decided to get the copper iud. Insertion wasn't as bad as I thought. To me it felt like a slight contraction then it was over. Day 3 and I'm still cramping with moderate bleeding. Smh No fun at all.
@NewKrystal4Life I know what u mean... I had cramps for about three days and was spotting. Ive had my iud in for 4 months now and im great...im stillwaiting on periods to "stop"
I had my Mirena put in in April as well. I was previously on Desogen (pill). I really haven't had any side effects other than my hair is shedding more than it ever has. I haven't had any children so the placement was a little painful but really kind of like horrible cramps for just a minute while they measured my uterus and another minute while it was placed. It got rid of symptoms that I didn't even know I had with Desogen but I'm not sure if I"m going to keep on it because of the hair loss.
I will try tea rinses though because honestly I'm willing to try anything. My hair was majorly thick before and it feels noticeably thinner though it's not really visible yet. Hopefully, the hair loss with slow down or stop so that I don't have to have my IUD removed since I love not having to take a pill everyday.
@MSIslave28 I heard that the Mirena is best for women who have had children?? However placement was painful for me afterwards. The cramps were terrible...no acne for me, im just dealing with the shedding. I have not really worn my hair down, I try to keep it in a protective been. I am doing a black tea rinse today
Well some doctors recommend it for women with children only but that's really just because there's a slightly higher risk of expulsion of the IUD in women who've never had children. The nurse practitioners at the clinic I go to now had no problems placing them for women who've never had children. The risk isn't really that much higher for expulsion and expulsion isn't really a big deal anyway other than that if it happens you aren't protected against pregnancy of course.
I was iffy as well girl, just thought of it made me sick, I would ask my friends who had it and side affects seem to be different for everyone I guess. Ive been on my hair journey since Dec 31 2010 and I didnt have that much breakage, some but not alot. I refused to go back to depro and the pill wasnt an option, neither was getting my tubes tied. I hope u look more into it...let me know what u decide
@NewKrystal4Life Yes it does...However I do recommended doing the black tea rinses, they have been helping with my shedding. Also take a vitamin supplement as well. Over all I love it because I dont have to remember to take a pill everyday.
@tastyscorpio25 Oh no that's not cool. I've tired black tea rinses before but it only slowed it down. I also tired garlic and it did the same thing. It started shedding about 4 months after I had my son and he's 18 months now. I've been taking vitamins everyday like clock work. I'm just wondering if my hormones are still out of wack. I've been on my hair journey for a while now. Please keep us all updated. YouTube reviews are making me iffy.
