  • Saw them live at deer lake park in burnaby last night......hands down best show ive seen.

  • Too bad much music doesn't play this stuff any more...

  • Woo-Hoo CANADA! I love you.

  • Such a whacky video. Nice shirt Rob. Love it

  • I love being Canadian + raised with parents who would go concert hopping to hip concerts(L)

  • Langois with the smoke hanging out of his mouth is classic...

  • I AM CANADIAN !!! AND THE HIP ARE LEGENDARY!!

  • ya you should

  • Awesome song, awesome band, awesome country!

  • the album 'Road Apples' kicked all kinds of ass.

  • Great idea putting that long ass subdomain url at the start with an h ttp as long as 2 hyphens hahahaha, come on canada lets get our shit together here

  • great song

    period.

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!!

  • love the hip

one of the first CD's I ever purchased

    dating myself

  • CANADIAN FUCK PILE 2010 HELL YEAH.

  • This is the first Tragically Hip song I ever heard. Gordon Downie has one of the greatest voices in rock! It is America's loss that radio stations here rarely, if ever, play The Hip.

  • our lady peace, the hip, rush, bryan adams, kim mittchell, some of the great candian rock acts of all time.

  • @bdawgmarsdin Dont forget Helix

  • for james a great friend whos off to canada tonight and for stu of course both being missed already

  • Am I seriousley hearing the Hip and Hedley mentioned in the same breath....saw Hedley the other nite at the Kee, in betweeen the coke snortin they were average LOL

  • @Ontarioarab i wasn't comparing the *talent* of the bands, i was just comparing how people associate their success with being Canadian. reread the comment please :)

  • the Hip make me proud to be 3rd Generation CANADIAN <3<3<3

  • i am Canadian, and happy to be one, but...

how come every time a Canadian band becomes successful, we all act like they're the greatest ever? it's like this with Hedley right now - nobody outside of our country gives a shit about them but we act like they do and worship them just because of their nationality

if you like the band, great, but don't use them to illustrate the greatness of Canada. they are just a band that happened to be born in this country...

  • @Eman137 but, you can't compare a band like Hedley to the Hip, cummon...i know what you're getting at, but don't even bother to bring Hedley into the picture when it comes to the Hip.

  • @Eman137

The hip are good, I like them and I'm an American, but I would have never known about them before I was put on to them by Canadian friends

  • @Eman137 haha shut up bro

  • @Eman137 @Eman137 haha shut up bro, hedley has nothing on the hip, best band to come out of canada, thats i guess an exuse to worship them

  • @Tpost11 i was just using an example man. i actually don't like Hedley at all, but i was just illustrating how our country goes wild whenever a Canadian becomes successful. The Hip are successful because they are talented, not because they are Canadian - this is the point i am trying to make.

Before my comment, there was like pages full of "OMG I LOVE CANADA", and i was just saying how the band and the country should not be connected like that.

  • man all these comments are about bein canadian

  • Canada is better than everywhere else because we think it is... we have the most land per person, we are the nicest people on the planet, our nature is spectacular, we grow great dope and brew great beer (don't forget the whiskey) one of the best healthcare systems and we produce bands like the tragically hip

  • @Jables158 Amen!

  • @Jables158 Well said.

  • Good times good times :)

  • great music

  • I am glad and proud I am Canadian :D

  • @JesterNeil canada sucks sucker

  • @clintony3000 you must not live in Canada then...if you do gtfo

  • @jcobaltss2005 What's sooooo great about our country then? Why are we soooo much better then anyone else

  • I absolutely love the hip too and Im 19, and so do a lot of my friends.

  • one of the best bands ever, no question!

  • loveeeeeeee it

  • I fucking love the hip....

  • this song means enjoy life today...the past is the past...today is what counts! got it?eat your chicken slow...

  • after so long, it's strange seeing gordie with hair...

  • How many guitars are playing in this song? Plz let me know. Thx.

  • theres 2

  • @nofx1231 two

  • does anyone know if there is a meaning to this song?

  • ONTARIO FTW!!!!!!! Dam I moved from Ontario to Alberta, ppl here to stiff (lolz) too conservative, whilst in Ontario no one gives a shit.

  • Sic song, GREAT COUNTRY!

  • being canadian is great and all but there are some down falls to it but other then thats its pretty fucking amazing

  • just curious, downfalls like what?

  • Great concerts, memorable concert in New Brunswick.

  • apparently they REALLY hated how this video turned out and made sure the director of it never did videos again. I can see why now....

    Great song anyways though

  • Yeah lol this stuff went out of style in the 80's.

  • the hip will never go out of style. your kidding me!!! I am 21. I love the hip more than people who grew up with them making hits. why? because i was born and raised with them. So I am living proof that it didnt go out of style in the 80's, i was born in 88 and i love the hip..i actually bought a hip album a few days ago...

  • @makattak88

Easy on the cheez whiz dude, I'm a year younger and I love the hip too. I was talking about the video style. Not the hip.

  • great song. one of the earliest songs i can remember from my childhood. the other being Jump by David Bowie.

  • Yeah when I was LITTLE I can always remember my mom cranking up the volume while listening to The Hip & Rush...

and some others but these bands are my favorite.

  • jammin guitar work.....songs well written...saw them in a club in Dallas Texas in 1992 i think

  • I wish I was Canadian!

  • You have no idea what your missing

  • @undertaker1545 I am so glad i am canadian.

  • @undertaker1545 I don't hear that very often, but it's nice to see. :)

  • @undertaker1545 me neither.

  • The Hip is rock and roll. Everything is there. They have it eminating from their very souls. Solid gold rock and roll.

  • played 4 shows here in winnipeg last month. Best concert ive been to in awhile.

  • Played 4 shows in Edmonton too it was an awesome concert.

  • Played Austin,TX 10/25/09 great show .Been a fan from the beginning.I favor seeing them here than Canada, smaller venue and you can get close up and personal. They keep getting better and better I hope they go forever, and if it matters I'm a native Texan. They recorded here in Austin before and I would see them around town, very nice guys and not at all unapproachable.

  • Lucky! My parents got to go to the show but I'm working in Florida atm so I missed it :(

  • The Hip rocks harder than granite itself.

  • Kingston, Ontario Rocks !!!

    And I'm in Korea!!!

  • CANADA ROCKS!!

  • I just saw these guys in D.C. Monday night, MAN ARE THEY GOOD LIVE!!!!

Im not CANADIAN, Actually a Texan, but I lived in Watertown, NY for a bit and heard them almost everyday on Kingston's K-Rock 105.7. Best rock band ever and even better live!!!!!

  • I'm from texas too, and I can't find anyone whos even heard of them lol. One of my favorite bands.

  • ROCK ON CANADA! My name is ken, and I AM CANADIAN!!!!!

  • I actually like this video. I love how it's so out there - branching away from the more conventional, often overly shallow and literal most bands put out.

  • I can't understand why, how the HIp has never been recognized? The uprising who???? THE HIP GETS Canadians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VMA's are so out and lost!!!

  • Isn't it obvious? They'll only be reconized if America can get them to sign with them and cover up their nationality.

that's why i love "It's a good life if you don't weaken" song so much.

  • They are our folk. Canadian Folk. No one else get's them because they are ours alone!

  • @898malachy I do know that The Hip had a good to excellent following in Detroit, Mi by the 1990's. They were as big as Triumph ever was back in the 70's.

  • In my opinion the Hip are great but Rush is my band....

  • for being the same 5 guys since high school..... the tragically hip should be as acclaimed as Aerosmith or The Rolling Stones. And Rush.

  • Definitely better than Aerosmith, and they're certainly at least equals to the Stones. Better than Rush, as well.

  • Awesome for an album 2!

  • The Hip are f'n gods!

  • nothing dead down here its just a little tried

  • the solo is the fishing network song

  • and OLN

  • Baby watch this fishin' show,

It's full of them little bones!

  • Gord Downey has one of the most recognizable voices in rock music

  • True! Just like neil young.

  • and geddy for sure

  • I know...But , man what a day that would be.

  • The Hip,Big Sugar,Trooper, and The Headstones. How's that for a summer concert at the Dome in Toronto?

  • and how many out of the four are still together!?

  • I've eben trying to think of the Headstones for WEEKS! THANK YOU!

  • I feel 'em ,I hear em' great band ! Thanks!!

  • The Tragically Hip is truly amazing live, and reserves a spot in my top 5 favorite bands. I have many friends who dislike the hip solely for Gord Downies voice, of all things! regardless, i dragged them all to Edge Fest, in Barrie Ontario. AWESOME SHOW and my friends have since loved most Hip songs. i remember clearly the Hip was the last to play at edgefest, it was dark and when they started lighters were being held up, and the smell of marijuana became especially thick! good times with the hip

  • I agree with you. I went to go watch them perform live last night at the Winnipeg concert hall, and they put on one hell of a dam good show. On top of that, it was the first concert i ever got to watch live. All i can really say is i wouldn't choose any other band to watch for the first time live, besides the Hip.

  • Check Out Pratically Hip A Tribute To Tragically Hip!!! Awesome Band !!!

  • the hip rule indeed!!!!!!!!

  • Just discovered 'The Hip', after moving to here (Canada) from UK. Pretty darn good!!

    Sorry to sound sensible.

  • welcome to canada... where do you actually live ?

  • You can make a lot of great music if you get away from it all ! Ask fasciast germany ! The hip are great ;and we're hip too !! Be cool !!

  • Yah i was jus wondering what that song was the first 8 seconds. Ive been looking for it everywhere.

  • H-E double hockey sticks--what is with all the rush fans on this page...its like no one can enjoy a good effing band without a rush fan being: You know what is another good band? Rush.....

gah!!! and before you give me thumbs down Im married to a Rush zealot and he hasn't kicked me out of bed yet for being a hater :D

there was a time, in Ontario at least, you couldnt hear this song at a bar played without everyone in the joint jumping in and singing along

  • I remember the first time I saw The Hip, they broke out with this song right at the end of the show. When it got to the part in the song when everything stops for a little bit (around 3:14 in the video) they turned everything up way louder. Needless to say, I was completely blown away, and I still remember every little bit of that show. Simply amazing. So far it's safe to say I haven't seen one other band perform as well as The Hip do live.

  • Rep, these feckeckers rock. No question.

  • There are lots of cowards on the net, wouldn't say shit if they were being spit on, but are brave over the computer, thanks for giving them what for! :)

  • Okay. Back to The Hip. I'm sure you all all less than 25 because your language suggest no knowledge of anything whatsoever.

Maybe go see The Hip live and then offer some intelligent comments. Sorry, don;t trip over that chicken coop on your way to the outhouse, Deliverance boys.

talk about absurd dialogue about a great band - join the main threads you losers or go play Wii or pretend GnR are the best band ever.

    Bye, fun boy.

  • So...I'm not one to spend my time leaving comments on youtube; but, as I stopped by to listen to a great song by the hip, I (unfortunately) came across your comment. Not only was it riddled with gramatical/spelling mistakes and ageist slander, but your input was ignorant enough to make me waste my time correcting you with THE FACTS :

    1. I'm <25 (thus apparently unintelligible)

    2. Could run vocabulary and lyrical circles around your excuse for a life

    3. And want you to think before you talk

  • Hmm.

Gotta love our presumably south of the border friend who doesn't know how to turn 'CAPS LOCK' off and enjoys his stroking/masterful name along with profane and unsupported language .

I can't figure out caps on because I'm surrounded by hay and cows in canada and that shrill noise is making me barf with the smell of coal from a southern breeze....

Sorry. when you profess yourself to be supreme we all laugh at your limp dick funny but not smart boy

  • Thats why I love our Canadian men, because their MEN, not boys......smarter too! Nice going mongo!

    Regards

    Canadian woman

  • @norsericci their also careful to never mess up they're words.

  • Buddy, take your racism back to fucking America, we don't want it here. Natives are the reason that Canadians still exist. Just like the Americans would have been fucked without the Africans. Man I hope you aren't Canadian, you bring shame to the title

  • amen brother !

  • sounds like your mother drank too much lysol when you were in the womb either that or you saw your mother with an Indian just fucking giving it to her! i mean she must have been getting FUCKING RAILED IN THE ASS...HARD!!!! and this is the root of your animosity towards Indians.

  • lmao your such a peice of shit i was only stating the truth about natives, and if you disagree your probably a greaseball chug
