i never understood why ppl go to all the trouble of going online going to this site searching for a song ,lisyen to it and then put the stupid lil thumbs down or a stupid comment, seem like a lot of trouble for nothing and their time whould be better spent going out of mommies basement and searching for a life !
now i'am an old man,an i think of yesterday, the good days an bad ones, there were more good ones than bad,i love this song,R.J.F. .from niagara falls ont.
@ready45678 Nice feelings and nice words. Ezra Pound wrote: "What thou lovest well remains, the rest is dross. What thou lov'st well shall not be reft from thee. What thou lov'st well is thy true heritage." Regards from Argentina.
I think this song was originally written by a French songwriter; I've only heard it in Englsih. Roy Clark's version is by far the very best recording. Some years ago, this song was played in a Korean movie which was very very moving. The movie was "Once in a Summer" ... I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind reading translations in subtitles.
An odd thing about this song, at least to me....I LOVE IT , first of all, and Roy does an incredible job emoting--he REALLY means it, and I get it.
But, some years ago now, I discovered the Aznavour version...and was floored that I liked it better, that somehow the words connected more to me...and found out that he wrote it.
Two great, great artists doing what we all are blessed to have...their tallents recreating music. Thanks God for music!
@LarryStaples I liked your comment - could not have said all of that any better myself! I have loved Roy Clark's version since I first heard it many years ago - but I also love Charles Aznavour's, which has been hard to find on youtube (at least the Aznavour version I remember).

I am 55 years old and have listened to this song since I was a child - I have yet to find a song or an artist that can compare - timeless !

って、捜していたらなかった;

skrca50 2 years ago
aka1215aka 2 years ago
